LD 44 April 26–29, 2019

I'm in!

It's jam time again, hooray. In a dramatic break from tradition, I'm teaming up this time and only entering the jam, which is a little strange but gives me loads more freedom 😁 I'm actually really happy with the themes, which has come as a major surprise! Risky Powerups in particular is the best suggestion I've ever seen - so thank you whoever came up with that!

... I have a weekend off

I’ve been following this jam for a while and well, I actually have a jam weekend off from work.. yup. I’m making something.

Using unity and photoshop and probably a computer and some Red Bull.

What have I gotten myself into. First jam.

I'm IN

Hello! Technically, this is my second Ludum Dare. In the first we took part a team of 3 people. Due to circumstances, I am now participating myself. It will be difficult, but I think I can handle it. I wish you all good luck.

My first JAM!

Hey everyone,

Been following Ludum Dare game Jam by following the Youtubers who took part in it. Always wanted to take this challenge but was afraid as I can't make good game art or music, but then I realized this is the whole bloody point of this game jam, so here I am to make a mediocre game with ugly graphics.

Best of luck to everyone taking part. -Monish Vyas

I'm In

My first Gamejam. Using Unity, bfxr and piskel. My goal will be to atleast complete the game before submission hour.

I'm in!

Fifth time participating. Finally have some time again. Hope the Theme is going to be alright.

Hopefully I'm joining in for the 13th time!

Hey folks! It's been a while since last time, and I hope you're doing well! After so many Ludum Dares it still a huge pleasure to be able to participate again, vote the themes and see people getting ready and sharpening their tools :)

I wish you all good luck and have fun!

The themes do not suck, you do!

Is it just me or do all these blog posts presuming to tell us how we should choose themes or why our themes suck usually posted by participants who rarely if ever create a playable game?

Just my opinion but maybe if said users concentrated on creating a game and having fun doing it rather than all that theme hatred their games wouldn't suck so badly.

Just sayin!

We're In!

We are super excited for our third Ludum Dare jam!

We will be using: Engine: Game maker studio 2

Graphics: Photoshop

Music: Bosca ceoil

Good luck with your Ludum Dare 44! :) and don't forget to drink coffee :)

Title

Say something

I am in, again.

I am going to do another LD  My first jam was #24 and my last one I finished something was #38.

Here is the list of tools/libs I going to use.

Unity Boilerplate for Unity https://github.com/Thorig/SharedStateObjectLibrary Gimp and Pyxel sfxr Github

Thank you for reading, make cool games, stay awesome and have fun!

I'm ready!

Got days off work. Got my machine prepped and ready to go.

Lets do this!

  • Unity
  • Rider
  • Blender
  • Photoshop
  • bfxr

Good luck everyone!

Please, keep the LD original, and don't vote to redo past themes !

If you want to make a game using those, feel free to do so, as a bonus theme, but do not force "veteran" ludum darers to work again on a theme they have already done, and to see all the same hundreds of games they already have rated before… :cold_sweat:

We already have done those

I didn't let the following two in the list, because they are related to LD before the 21th, with less than 300 entries, and so I think really few people would be annoyed to have them as final LD#44 theme :

Space exploration, close to #16 (Exploration : 121 entries), and #19 (Discovery : 242 entries)
Contagious, close to #4 (Infection : 66 entries)

In for the sixth time

I have some ideas for tinny town, and with underground I will probably experiment with am extremely simple clone of Dwarf Fortress. Space exploration probably something with gravitation and orbit

Getting closer! + a boilerplate!

Getting closer to start time - I can't wait! I made a little boilerplate and script for setting up Nuxt, the Vue framework I'll be working in for this jam - you can see the repo here. I figure the faster I can get up and running, the faster I can work through ideas and flesh those ideas out. Good luck, all!

Does your team need a musician?

TL;DR: Would your team be interested in a musician to do an adaptive score for your upcoming Ludum dare game? Hit me up!

Hey there everybody, happy upcoming Ludum Dare weekend!

My name is Martín, I've been participating since LD39, but for reasons out of my control (...cough Work, Avengers, Game of Thrones) I won't have enough time to do a game. So I thought I could find a team and only do what I love to do the most, the music.

Ok, so... Is anybody interested in an adaptive soundtrack?

I'm a musician and a programmer, and I have used this to do interesting things in my games. I have a tradition to always make an adaptive soundtrack for my Ludum Dare games. Here are examples from my previous games:

  • LD39: Ted Crashed! You have to add fuel to a rocket and the music transition smoothly from an acoustic to an electric version (with a sweet sax solo) as you fill the fuel tank.
  • LD40: Bus Mayhem You drive a bus and, as you pick up more people, the music adds more instruments to the arrangement.
  • LD41: I didn't finish the game. But the idea was to do a genre change when changing abilities.
  • LD42: The Game Collector It was based on the history of game consoles, and as you level up, the song changed the arrangement to reflect how it would sound in that console era sound chips.
  • LD43: A Band Story You played as a trio that needs to pick up their instruments, and yeah, the song added the player instrument when you do.

Making the music speeds up with the speed of the character, change the arrangement to reflect the game status, make a solo storm out with a powerup, make the music sync up with a game mechanic or graphics, whatever we can imagine. So yeah, if your team thinks this could be useful to add to the game mechanics, hit me up. I could even help with the programming of the sound engine, especially if you guys use Unity because I already have the scripts ready.

If you wanna check other stuff:

Any questions don't doubt to comment here, or you can add me on discord Martin#2351

Thanks for your time, and good luck on the jam everybody!!!

Straw-poll for themes.

https://strawpoll.com/3bdzwp5b Let's get some more votes on the Straw-poll of the final themes, it's never right in predicting the theme, but it is tradition and pretty entertaining while we wait for the actual results!

Currently Shelter is in the lead, what do you think of that?

I need someone to make “cover-art” for my game

Are you good at drawing? Could you make cover art for mine? You’ll be listed as part of the team behind the game.

Here is sort of a moodboard to quickly give an idea of the style and feel I have in mind.

And here is a sketch I made

NOTE: I am entering into the jam, not the compo, and will be opting out of the graphics voting category.
