LET'S GET IT ON!
13 minutes, I'm more excited than I thought I would be, it's been a very blah day, and now that we're so close I just cannot wait to start, only my second Jam but I love it.

it took me a bit to get an idea going, but main mechanics are in place, just building out a level now

how are you doing?
progress day 1:
3pm - midnight
tomorrow is going to be focused on music, menus, and if I have time baddies / voice work.

Im at the point now where I will be adding more and more and more to the game, the simple premise of it is set and done, animations in place, models look good, sounds work, menus work...
I could try and add in an enemy? right now the only threat is time and .... lava.
Last time I did this my WebGL build got kinda messed up, this time im trying to get it right... it all looks good from an outside perspective but it runs at like 1 frame a second.
any advice? I am using unity
I "finished" the game last night, but my buddies ran through it and found a ton of holes in the colliders on the WebGL version, spent this morning improving the level block geos, modifying colliders, THEN SOME HOW ONE WAS PUSHING/PULLING the player for literally no discernable reason so that was like 2 hours of trouble shooting, and then somehow the floor colliders on like 30% of the level went back to default sizes....
it's all fixed now and I'm rebuilding but DAMN that was stressful

Congratulations to everyone who took part in the compo part of the Jam, I cannot wait to get to play your games, I have already gone through a few of them and have had a blast.
This is only my second Jam and I have noticed a thing when I go to look at all the games that have been made, I feel a crazy amount of wonder when I see the verity of games made under a simple theme, things that I wouldn't have ever thought about are the first thing in others heads.
I cannot wait for the next Jam to see what we can all come up with.
I can't remember if there is a restriction on when you can start rate on games or not.
There were some bugs I didn't catch that required a fix, stuff well within the rules, however there were a few things I changed that I didn't know if it would break the rules or not, so I have uploaded a second build for both download and web.
bug fixes: - fixed inventory dropping below 0 - fixed colliders being set to default sizes - fixed death sending player to victory screen instead of death screen. - fixed a bug causing the "inventory full" message to display even if you were not full.
changes: - Changed victory conditions now you need a minimum of 2 items before you can use the elevator instead of a full inventory - Change the inventory drop system instead of UI buttons you can now use num 1 - 5 to drop corresponding items to make room for higher value (@ellaris) idea - Changed interact from E to Left mouse

Creative use but like… what?

This is my third jam and I’ve gotten better and better at slaughter, first time it was like 500 yes votes next was capped at 100, this time …. It should probably has been like 20 but it all kept blending together and I couldn’t remember what I had voted for lol

they're all pretty simple but i can work with any of these.
We're only two days away from the jam... 1day 21hrs, but it's Wednesday here so 2 days, and I'm starting to get excited, I've spent the past 2 years developing my first releasable game, and it all started with Ludum Dare, I had an idea and started working on it but really had no where to go with it, so i took a break from tutorials and trials and worked on my first jam game "rain, sleet, Zombies" the theme was delivery, you had to take a cure for a zombie virus to the other side of town as a mail carrier.
after that things really started to develop for my game, I was able to do more and understood how the engine worked, how animations worked, texturing was still beyond me lol, when the next jam came about I dove head first, spent the day before completely clearing my desk, nuked my "office" clean and ensured I had my generic scripts set up, audio manager, and movement controller.
What came out of that is actually a very solid base for it's own game that I will eventually get back to and finish, but after that things were on fire I had more than a prototype working the game was finally starting to feel like a playable game, bugs galore however and I ended up taking a 6 month break due to not understanding saving to Json or any other system.
weirdly enough my team at work has these "action weeks" where you can do whatever you want so long as it develops a skill you use in work, or improves a system for work, being a game company I set out to treat it like a jam, spent 3 of the 5 days studying tutorials and learning all I could from Udemy, and then spent 2 days making a game, at this point im 1 1/2 years if not a bit more into actually developing my own game so my confidence was pretty high, i burnt out a prototype in a couple hours then started working on the actual game, threw in a giant floating eye ball enemy with particle effects and animation and 3D sounds so you can hear them coming, it was super cool.
my team was pretty impressed that I was able to make something like that in such a short time, and i realized then just how far I had come from "Rain Sleet, Zombies", I figured out Json saving not long after and have been developing nonstop on my main game.
and here we are again, another Ludum Dare, another Jam for me to learn and develop my skills, I'm getting very excited to see what I can come up with and what everyone else will be able to create.
so let's get excited, we're only 2 days out from the jam.
5 hours 40mins to go, if you have the time remember to clean your work space a bit, get some energy snacks like nuts and veggies, or if you're a degenerate like me, energy drinks and pizza rolls.
Get your generic scripts set up, movement controller, audio managers, save scripts, etc, the type of scripts that don't really change 1 game to the next.
TAKE A SHOWER! this ones not a joke, go into the jam feelin clean and fresh.
Get a writing implement ready and some paper, or a white board or something to jot down ideas and doddle plans.
Set up Genres you might want to try out, or mechanics you've been wanting to learn.
I'm looking at one of 4 options. - Horror side scroller - Classic FPS - 3D platformer - Bullet hell.
no matter the theme I'm going to do one of these 4 genres which should help narrow down wtf im doing.
and lastly take a bit of a walk, get outside stretch your legs, take in some fresh air before you get started.
