Ludum Dare 55

Day 1 - Creation of Beansters

With day 1 of Ludum Dare over and done with, development of Beansters has started. The game is like a Pokemon cross Wizard game, where you can battle others either with monsters, called Beansters, or with your wizardry powers.

Right now, the game is nothing more than a mere demo, all you can do is walk around, challenge a guy, fight his cuber with yours, and that's it. But today I will aim to add more. I'll work on the map, a storyline (sort of), and other monsters. That'll be it for today

Good luck to the other jammers!

Day 2 - Map & Bug Fixes

So, with Day 2 almost over, I've worked on Beansters a bit. I fixed a little bug in the fighting system, allowing players to attack/heal as many times as they want. I also got to work on the map, and other little things for the fighting mechanic. Now since my last post didn't have any gameplay photos/gifs/videos or whatnot, I decided to add TWO here - one of movement and one of a battle. Here you go:movement.gifbattle.gif

Nearly done

Ludum Dare voting is almost over! What a competition it has been

If you still need to rate games, please rate our game Beansters. We need a couple more, if you don't mind

This is fun

With day 2 coming to an end I'm glad I'm not doing the compo. I've got a map in place, but the enemies are refusing to work. So that's great. Gonna work on the collection system, UI, music and maybe some more maps and leave the enemies and cutscenes for tomorrow. Hopefully it will work tomorrow.Screenshot 2025-10-05 184458.pngScreenshot 2025-10-05 194222.png

Isle Of The Orbs

Another Ludum Dare done! I was really happy with this one, especially after the tiny RPG I did back in LD55. I think Isle Of The Orbs is a massive improvement on that, and I think I did well. You can play it on web or on Windows here: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/58/isle-of-the-orbs Screenshot 2025-10-07 080633.png

Results are in...

Well, Ludum Dare 58 results are in, and I went...

Look it was better than last time where I got no results in anything. Everything was better this time. And ending with 302nd in audio is pretty good. Thanks to everyone who participated, and huge thanks to everyone who played Isle Of The Orbs. I hope to see all of you again in 174 days from Ludum Dare 59.

The Future

I might work on Isle Of The Orbs a bit more, maybe package it into a bit of a larger, stronger game. Not sure yet. Tell me if you think I should.

Ludum Dare 59

This will be my third Ludum Dare this year, but my first suggesting themes. I've got Whimsy and Rock 'N' Roll. Probably not going anywhere, but worth the shot

Theme Slaughter

Took a while but I finished my first theme slaughter. There were some interesting ones there, and space seems to be a recurring theme quite a bit. Also the order some of them came in were kinda funny. I got Immortal Shake And/Or Sun Factory at one point.

Also this one

the theme sucks but better.png

The Voting Begins

Well I'm sad to see Joe's Corner didn't make the cut, but I like a lot of these themes. I haven't decided what game to make, but I'm definitely doing carrier pigeons for Unusual Communications.

Also everyone's going over what they're using for the jam and whatnot, so I might as well

Engine: Unity (probably 2018, dunno why, I like it)
Visuals: Not sure yet. Don't even know if I'm using 3D or 2D graphics
Music: I'll compose/record in Songsterr and Musescore, and edit it all in Audacity
Hosting: Itch.io

I won't use AI, I hate it. Maybe if I like my game enough, I'll make it a full game later. We'll see. I want to try and come top 100 in something. Maybe I can in music, that seemed to be my strong suit last jam. Anyway, good luck, I'll see you again when the jam commences!

Signal

Not too bad. Somehow I came up with a good idea but I reckon it might be a bit big. We'll see. I'm gonna do 2D for once! This is a sprite of the character I just knocked up

Progress so far...

I've done a little bit. Only really have the player moving and a working gun script, and designs for 3 enemies. The plot for my game is an alien race has sent a signal to Earth threatening war, and after failed peace talks and miscommunication, send alien warriors down to fight. A top ranking soldier is sent to kill the aliens that have been sent down. This is the first jam where I've thought of a good idea, and my first 2D game, so I'll see how it goes.

Space Supremacy is finished!

My third ludum dare is finished! This is probably the best game I've done so far, and I hope it'll do well. Congratulations to everyone else, I can't wait to play your games. You can try Space Supremacy for yourself here: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/59/space-supremacy
