Not Failing this time!

So. I uh, may have failed last time. I wrote an entire ASCII game engine in C#/.NET but then lost all creativity. Heh. Back then I was still very much a noob at programming and game development in general. But I spent the entire Summer programming and doing almost nothing else.

BUT I WILL NOT FAIL THIS TIME!!!….I hope

I’m starting my junior year of high school(11th grade) on the 27th, the day after the competition ends. SoooOoOoOo I will be doing LD24 as my last adventure of Summer! I’ll be locking myself in my room with whatever $30 can buy me from pizzahut and a few 2 liters bottles of Soda.

Language:   Python

Library(s):  Pygame! And pyOpenGL! And probably some other libraries but mainly Pygame & pyOpenGL!

Art: Gimp

Sound/music: Not sure yet, might grab some public domain sound effects or something like that.

EDIT: Sorry, I didn’t know that ^^^ was against the rules. I will use a sfx generator instead :)

Good luck to all other Ludum Dare participants!! <3333

Love,

The newest addition to the Ludum Dare community, Mattykins.

Releasing my base code

I’m going to release my base code for all you guys to use if you want :) And also to make it legal that I use this..heh. It’s just some basic functions and initialization stuff for pygame and pyopengl. http://codepad.org/EkqLe0fI

FOOD <3

Kickin’ off Ludum Dare right with a little pregame snack.

(By little I mean an entire digornos pizza.)

(theres only half of it on my plate, i was too hungry for a picture at the time)

(yet another footnote)

(ok this is getting awkward)

Bullet Evolution – Complete?

Well, here I am about 15 hours of total work into this and i’ve got a game i’m satisfied with. If I have motivation tomorrow I will add more content but the game and all of the core mechanics are done :) Its tipping the scales at close to 1300 lines(Mainly because of the Verbose way I did bullets and enemies)

I Should probably explain a little about what my game is. It’s a shoot-em’-up / bullet hell (Think touhou or 1944) but with (Of course!) Evolution! Depending on the type of enemy you kill different stats are affected. If you kill the fast enemies, your movement speed increases, if you kill the enemies that shoot bullets really fast, you will shoot bullets really fast! Etc etc etc.

There is a special enemy called the anti which basically, if you kill it, it drops all your stats by a noticeable amount :) So that is 5 enemies total.

Here’s a screenshot! Fo yo viewin’ pleasuh!

Finished!

Well, It didn’t turn out as good as i thought it might. But hey! I finished it and that’s what counts :) This was a very fun first ludum dare and you can count me in for the next one! I will be uploading my time lapse to youtube within the next few days and I will write a post here about it.

Good luck to all those still cramming to finish their entry and I look forward to playing/rating everyones game!

I’m in!

I haven’t competed in a while, so I’m pretty stoked.

My last entry I believed I used Common Lisp and didn’t even release a binary because i couldn’t figure out how. I’m an idiot for trying to use Lisp when I had only just learned about it (or am I?) 😀

This time around I’ll either be using C#/Unity, or make a web-based game in javascript. Depends on the theme.

Good luck to all!
