I’m in!

So I’ve been meaning to do a Ludum Dare for a while, so why not now!

Tools

Engine – Unity (4.6 beta, time to try out dat GUI)

Graphics – Probably Paint.net

Sound – Probably mostly Bfxr, with maybe something to generate music if I get the time…

It’s my first solo game jam, and I’m a programmer by trade so the graphics will likely be abysmal, but hopefully I will end up with something playable by the end! Lets see how this goes!

It’s something!

After initially struggling  to come up with an idea, and trying my very best to just avoid making a generic platformer, I’ve finally settled on an something I’m somewhat ok with.

I bought a copy of Pyxel Edit, which is fantastic and with my limited programmer art skills, made a bunch of assets. Now to make it work!

Progress..

So I’ve made some progress today. Maybe not as much as I would have liked, but something!

So here’s a little gif of whats going on so far!

Submitted!

So I’ve finally completed a Ludum Dare. And while I didn’t exactly get everything finished I would have liked to, with a lack of background music, a very much unfinished level design and some last minute chopped features that would have been nice to have.

I did however end up with something somewhat playable, with most of the core mechanics in place and working, and some programmer art done to the best of my limited abilities. Hopefully what I did manage to finish implementing will give a reasonable impression of what I was going for with this idea.

So feel free to check out my attempt at http://www.ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-30/?action=preview&uid=41401. Any and all feedback is welcome. The web player link may not work due to me using the Unity 4.6 beta release, but there are platform downloads available.

Everyone, get in here!

Lets do this. My second attempt at a Ludum Dare.

I’ll be using Unity (C#) and Pyxel Edit.

There is no real plan so far, just kind of winging it. So far I have a crudely drawn background, which is indicative of the art quality to come… Lets see how this goes.
