I managed to get a basic game application based on lwjgl up and running.
Additionally i used some parts of slick2d for rendering.
Behold, the mighty warrior named Whimbo!

Starting to prototype now.
After some prototyping, i came up with the idea of reversing good old space invaders
You are the commander of an alien armada trying to invade planet earth. But the little earthlings do not give up without a fight!
One-liner:
You get to choose which ships make up your attack wave and let them try to break the defense.
Detailed:
You proceed level after level, deciding which ships are best to destroy the earths defense forces.
With every level, you get a certain amount of points depending on how well you did.
By spending this points between levels, you are able to upgrade your ships or unlock new ones, for even more destruction!
After a good night sleep and some tasty breakfast, back to work!
Sadly i couldn’t keep up with the deadline for the 48h challenge, so i might as well try to submit the game within the next 24h for the jam challenge.
Despite the fact, that i failed to finish my game in 48h, i had great fun so far and made considerable progress.
Here are some screenshots from the current version:
I’m going to bed now. I’ll try to finish my game tomorrow, after getting home from work.
So long, have a good night, and congratulations to all participants who finished on time
Good morning everyone,
so the theme is minimalism. Well not exactly what i hoped for, but still very interesting.
So i will start the day (its 9:30am where i’m from) with a mug of coffee and a bowl of cereals, trying to come up with an idea for my game.
I’m not yet sure about the tools i want to use, either jMonkeyengine@java or Unity3d@c#,
but i’ll come back to you after i experimented and prototyped a bit.
Good luck to everyone, and have fun!
I decided to go with Unity3d/c# and a port of my java entity component system, which i’m going to develop while participating in this ludum dare.
You can check it out here: YanecosSharp
Unfortunatly i have only been able to work on my game on saturday, which leads to unfinished buisness. But besides the point that i could finish my game (yet again :P), i’m content with what i archived. I was able to almost completly port my yanecos java code base over to c#. I even wrote some unit tests using nunit, which were really helpful finding little bugs and flaws in design. I havent yet been able to integrate yanecos with unity3d, which i’m really looking forward to. So to sum it all up, i had fun and learned quite a bit, but could finish my game. Congrats to all of you who could, and see you next time.
I had the pleasure to work with a friend of mine for this Ludum Dare.
At first we had the idea of creating some sort of economy/strategy game, where you have to manage resources for different floating islands. After a couple of drafts, we lost connection to this idea. Unfortunatly at this point, we were already approximately 20 houres in.
So we went back to the drawing board. Both of us liked playing the hacking mini game in deus ex: human revolution. So we tried fitting the mechanincs into the theme, and so we went with solar systems, where you have to hack planets and moons, instead of servers and workstations.
Its buggy and short, but we hope some of you can enjoy it!

Check it out here.
Have a good one.
