Participating in warmup weekend + Marmalade

This will be my first jam that I am openly participating in. I’ll be in the compo category, likely. Previously, I have done a jam with a partner and failed. I also made my first game (which I am not proud of so never showed anyone) in a self-imposed game-jam structure.

I recently started my own solo fps project. I realized though, that my art-style needs a bunch of polishing, and I have no idea how to make the FPS viewpoint feel  both right and immersive. So I decided, as my digital-art  art-style has improved much over focused sessions of drawing via shading. Bringing a similar treatment to the skills involved with crafting not just a game, but an experience is something I hope to do with the upcoming jams.

Aims:

  • Experiment with camera and interface movement
  • Experiment with art-styles and representations
  • Become faster and more effective

Tools:

  • Unity 3D (Free license)
  • GIMP
  • Blender 3D
  • SFXR

Angsty Angst Angst!: 10 Seconds Shapeshifting Game (Working Title)

My game is a shapeshifting, arcadey, (very slightly) japan-influenced fps brawler. After every timed cycle, the player gets a 10 second break from an onslaught of monsters, to regenerate health, to whack out monsters while they are vulnerable in slowmo (if it’s feasible for me to do in the time), and for the monk to  think about his angsty angst.

Here is some fairly quickie art for the monk stuff, which I am about to texture
