First attempt at making 3D assets

I'm trying to make a little 3D dungeon crawler about seeking out fuel for a torch and keeping it lit. I've never made 3D assets before so I'm excited to share my first crack at it using Magicavoxel ^_^.

It's a little knight guy.

First time making 3D assets

ACK! I accidentally doubled posted. Anyone know how I can delete this one?

~Generating Cosmic Forces. An Existenstial, Deep-Space Text Adventure.

Things are off to a solid a start. I created a brief design document ( https://docs.google.com/document/d/1nCCL4JIiu-s8frVf_dP2s85ETRp1QNnrtYQkmrugKqg/edit ) and I've already got some basic text box components up. I think it should be programmatically simple, my ability to deliver is gonna depend on whether I can generate enough narrative content to sustain the game.

Started over with PICO-8

I ran into some weird issues with Haxeflixel so I started over with PICO-8.

Accidentally double posted and I don't know how to delete this one @_@

text option boxes, submission and cosmic force interaction are up

Got a late start to the day but I finessed up the text boxes a bit, setup a basic version of the force's attitudes and engagement status, submitting dialogue to impact engagement and added some more option boxes.

Plus configured my coding setup a bit

Winning and losing

Took a long break to WANDER THE EARTH but you can win and lose now

Narrowing down the narrative and mechanical design

Came up with a document that finalized topics, adding text that helps show their scope and what they encompass. Also came up with a little grid that shows the main factors in what might decide the force's attitude in dialogue.

Screenshot 2021-10-02 225759.png

It was hard deciding how many topics should be addressed mechanically. It's gotta be enough that the deduction isn't too simple, but not so many that it's impossible to get anywhere. And they have to be concrete enough to be recognizable.

Here's the quotas I've set for my narrative content: Screenshot 2021-10-02 230513.png

A dialogue test

A little test to see how big of a prompt can fit

Calling it a night

Feeling like I'm not gonna be able to get enough writing done for this, but it's probably just midnight and I need a break/sleep.

Making final day design adjustments to rein in the scope.

The writing goals I set for myself are proving to be a bit too ambitious.

8 topics x 2 dialogues x 4 attitudes is 64 prompts from the cosmic force. I got through 3 topics and 24 prompts so far and I'm feeling a bit burnt out @_@.

Each prompt is supposed to have 8 responses too.

I think I'm gonna scrap the idea of topics for prompts and just make use of the 24 prompts I have now. They're distinct enough that I can present the attitude variations as individual prompts.

The attitudes were supposed to be based on combinations of engagement and disposition for the topic, but I think I can just separate them based purely on level of engagement instead.

This would give 2 variations of 12 prompts rather than 4 variations of 6 prompts.

If a full game only has 10 turns, that would be enough to get through a run without repeats, and still have some variation based on engagement-level variations.

I think I'll scope it down to just 4 responses for each prompt too.

Actually, I might just make one response for each topic and reuse those over and over for each prompt. That would make the prompts kind of irrelevant though and rip out a lot of what makes the game work Person facepalming. At least it'll be finished and playable though.

Last resort option

Reliance (~Generating Cosmic Force) is up and out!

An existential deductive adventure!

Reliance went out on time for the compo last night.

I didn't get it as fully fleshed out and developed as I would have liked but I'm pretty happy that it's atleast playable and beatable ^_^.

Polished up title screen for Summoner

I was so dang close to actually getting to making content for my jam game I decided to keep tinkering on it for a while post jam and re-write it in a less hacky way.

Got the title screen polished up a bit tonight
