Let them fall! Harder than you expected… than I expected…

BombardeAlien! Tired of shoting at enemies to kill them? How about shotting aliens to make them fall off your spaceship to a big star under you? Doesn’t it sound exciting? 😛 This is my game for the compo.

There were many things I wanted to put in it that I couldn’t (went out for several hours…), but it is indeed playable, and not only that, it’s hard! Even it’s not that long, I coundn’t beat it yet, it ended up harder than it would be if I had more time… But, come on, together we can beat it! 😀

BombardeAlien Title screen

I had an idea (good, I think) for a music, but time didn’t let me make it.

It was made in Game Maker 6.1 (only for Windows, therefore).

The graphics, in MS Paint and Game Maker’s built-in image editor (it has some nice functions). Oh, sure, and with a graphics tablet. 😉 And with paper and pencil before that…

So, let’s play! Let the aliens come, let the aliens fall. :)

Ad Libitum

For the musically inclined, how about playing Ad Libitum?

Having been not able to do something at the weekend, after 24h, this is what I’ve came up with. Not quite what I planned, but appreciate the mood :)

Ad Libitum
(Windows only)

Keys from Z and S to J, M and comma work as the piano keys.
For those who will give from medium on a try, you will have to use intervals (play exactly 2 keys simultaneously).

My idea was to have score, combos, bonus for hitting/killing more than 1 robot at once, notes coming according to a specific scale (blues scale would have been great!) and to the background music (that ended up being a drums loop only, hehe), more effects, better timing… But, you know, 24h…

My weapon is MUSIC! :D

Like to play piano, but all you have is a computer with a browser with ludumdare.com open? There are a lot of sites where Try playing Ad Libitum! Enjoy it and the eternal[citation needed] pun with its name 😀

Previous post talking about why this isn’t a perfect (piano, robots destruction) (game, simulator)

How happy is that guy!

I liked the idea, just didn’t have time to accomplish something closer to what I wanted, but I plan on continuing with this game 😀

There’s a man…

There’s a man
Who will tell you a lot of things
But it might be hard to understand
“which man”, you may ask
/usr/bin/man

Ludum Dare 37

Definitely

Not a theme I was expecting. I want my money back! Or some good ideas… Yep, having good ideas looks good.

So...

I did it!!! :tada: :bacon: :bacon: :tada:

After 2 years of ludum-idleness following my made-in-24h musical LD 32 entry, I've finally been able to make a game again and take part in my 3rd Ludum Dare!

My game: RagooP!

I've made a few fixes (see link above). It came out a little too hard (but there's a cheat...). Can you beat it? :sunglasses:

Power is good. But if you don't use it, it'll consume you.

Warmup

Here are some MS Paint graphics I've just made in a few minutes for a homework (the first was 2 days ago)...

Needs more polish (or not!), but... Enjoy!

Remake

If "The more you have, the worse it is" wins, I'll just submit a remake of my LD 39 game, Ragoop! hehe

I haven't managed to improve it yet, so that's the opportunity  (NOT!)

Update: HTML5 version

Woohoo! This time, GM:S created a working HTLM5 version of my game!

Come to Taserland via the HTML5 portal and play Taser Loser!

ss2.png

How much money can you get before some hidden bug terminates the game? XD

Got there!

I thought this random part of my city ("world") was unreachable!

(Of course, I had to cheat and change the character's initial position to try over and over again...)

Play Taser Loser!

I've already listed some things I have to improve because time didn't let me implement them. Post-jam updates on the way!

Taserland...

...the best place to invest your money! (or "invest")

Play Taser Loser!

Two big bugs found so far (involving the AI) that I didn't fix (or didn't publish the fixed version). If you play for long enough, you may meet them

And here's something I had broken when refactoring some code, but also isn't fixed in the published version, so you may appreciate it here for now:

It's dangerous to go alone

Well, I've got 20+ ratings, and it was faster than I expected.

Nevertheless, I'd like to get some more ratings. So, if you still have some stars available, play Taser Loser!

...? Oh, sure! That "dangerous to go alone" story. Take this taser! :D

Try this taser

I hope to release updates soon after the voting period ends.

But for now, if you haven't yet, play and rate Taser Loser! (HTML5 available!)

Short lessons

Results aren't really pleasing (so they're small), but I think I should be glad I didn't get too good scores with so much incompleteness. You can't even imagine all I had (and have!) in mind looking at my game right now. Some simple things that would improve the result didn't made it to the game.

Highlights

In this entry, I've made my: - 1st AI of this kind ever - 2nd platformer ever - 1st entry with real music

The music almost alone (only sounds of coins besides) gave me 3 stars in audio.

Lessons

  • I've got (as in last LD) solid platformer mechanics. But, being the 2nd time EVER I make that (didn't really try before LD 39... maybe tried once, not too hard), it took too much time. I need warmup.
  • ~5h making the music and it's kind of complete but incomplete. To much time spent polishing. I need better tools and a better workflow. And warmup.
  • Someone had borrowed my P2/P10 plug. I wasted too much time trying to record my (musical) keyboard playing the MIDI. And ended up recording my note playing it. And wasted time trying to get the recording right. Warmup warmup warmup

I have got almost no other games to a playable state besides my 4 LD entries. So, to sum up: Warmup. Beginning right now.

Next year I hope I'll get there!

Post-compo bug

So... Looks like I've got an interesting post-compo bug in Puzz Snake...

bugInt.gif

Should I call that a feature and use it as part of the puzzles? 😆

Little post-mortem coming soon...
