[Compo] Got my idea, prepare for working

This theme was “annoying” on start, I search 1 hour before to sleep and 2 ideas, the first idea was complex, the second one to (multi-worlds platefromers).

Then After few hours sleeping (I’m on GMT+1) I got 2 new ideas, the first one is pretty cool but need 2 players and is less fun than the second one.

It’s a game about all things, from the smallest to the biggest, about science, about knowledge. You have to connect things together with the current given pattern, when you finish this “parts” you go to a bigger one to finally connect stars together to create constellations.

Is the name of my game.

Well now I told you my idea, I’m gonna to do some search about arts (I’m bad with 2D soft so I draw on papers then use it xD).

I’ll use my engine the Dream Engine (avalaible on Github here) with few plugins (not sure what I’ll use for this)

And for sounds I have a piano, I’m not sure about connect it to my computer and register, I’ll try in 10 hours.

See ya and hf for all participants.

Constellations

Here is the game, I’ve finished gameplay and pathfinding (and it’s very efficient) now I’m going to work on the leveling progression.

Actually the gridsize is 3*3 (the beginning), with 9 case patterns it’s work great (and it’s really hard), I’m going to do a gridsize that grow with your leveling.
I’ll add a timer to force the player to play (otherwhise it’s easy to find the good path before playing).

No arts actually, it’s only circles, I’ll probably made some arts and the game will upgrade visually, if I got the time for this.
Here is 2 screenshots.

Constellations - screen 2

It’s working on mobile obviously and with fingers it’s funny

Here is the end and Constellations is (are ?) complete !

I finally ended this jam successfully, my game is finished, with online score and social sharing.

I made my first steps with LMMS (for the music) now I know I can do something, not awesome but something that do the job.
Obviously I’m still bad as an artist (in 48h).

Hope you all will enjoy my game, check my submission

Constellations – post compo version

Hey everyone you know what ? I’m making a post compo version of my game.

I wanted to rework (absolutely) the arts/ux of my game and after 2 days thinking about it, I think it’s done.
Constellations
Also I’m on few features to add enjoyment and challenge in the game like combos and power ups.
If you don’t already played my game/rated it, go for it, now ! :) (it’s take you 30 seconds to play it)
And coming soon version downloadable from stores (but it was already working on mobiles and tablets).

Check out the post-compo version!

Let’s make something crazy

Ok all I’m in !

I want to make a multiplayer game with dynamic fights ! (of course this will be a short prototype xD)
Hope I’ll find something fitting the theme \o/

Technologie: JavaScript
Engine: 2D DreamEngine / NodeJS

Should be going in Jam (with an artist yay my game will be “look-able”).

Enjoy your LD all !

After – One night – platformer and fights ok

It’s the “first” day for me (it’s 3pm for me ahah) and I coded along the night to get the prototype working.

What’s the game ?
It’s a Beat’them all like smash bros, it’ll be online (trying ahah) and right now 2 players can “play” on the same computer (better for testing fights).

No graphics, just “boxes”. Come and see on my twitch (and ask for questions):
http://www.twitch.tv/inateno (speaking fr and english :) )

Come try Online Beat them all

Hey guys, after few hours working on server it’s finally running.
I’m benching the prototype online, come play :)

http://dreamirl.com/games/ola/
(will be offline in 1 hours maybe)

Can play with gamepad, space for fight, wasd or zqsd for move and e/r for spell.

See ya !

Concept + First step

Here we are for the LD33 with a small team, 2 artists and 2 programmers/GD.

Using JavaScript with the DreamEngine and NodeJS we are going on a 2D multiplayer game, based on the card game “werewolves”.

Here is a first art :)
Wolf card

We plan on other monsters kind, today we have to go faster on code ^^ (yeah it was 3am at the beginning of the jam)

Monsters hiding in the darkness

Here is our current progress for our game

screen-dev-2

Multiplayer is okay, handling movements and actions, we’ve done 3 classes, the monster wolf can kill in the darkness only, the human, can defend himself with a sword but don’t see a lot in the darkness, and the little girl, she got a powerful candle to see in the dark places but for a short period of time.

Scores and coop-interactions and we are good for tests !

Almost done, time for features, sounds and more

Here is it, we’ve done all mains feature and finished the dynamic lights rendering engine (with an existing experimental library).

Right now this is a preview of the game:
screen-dev-3
For those who are curious, we use PIXI.js with the experimental lights library which was hard to include in my engine (it is the dream engine with pixi inside + lights now).
https://github.com/pixijs/pixi-lights

Also planning to push all the source on github then all of you will be able to check it out !

We won’t be able to create dynamic shadows because it’s take long time to make this work, and we have sounds and music to put in + more features (yes we are issuing GD fails, so we are looking for more interesting way to play, objectives, and adding fun).

Anyway code is ready, level-design almost, and arts almost, time to use nitro.

Good luck to all jamers.

LD 42

I slaughtered the themes but...

Is it me or there is too much "42" related submissions?

IMO I don't find this relevant for an LD theme, and through these 3k+ themes, only a bunch was interesting/new.

What's your thought people?

I don't exactly know what I will do but there is something I wanna try

I don't think I'm the only one thinking too much right now (lol) and so my head is burning.

For this LD I'll try to do a 2D flat isometric game using Magica Voxel (never tried). Would like to put some multiplayer stuff in, but I will see how many time doing my Voxel stuff.

About the engine, I'll use mine as usual (DreamEngine on Github, JavaScript based on PIXI) and will try to make it runnable on both desktop and mobile.

Ofc I'm going compo ;)

Anyone else having some technical/game-design objectives?

Wont register in compo finally :(

I have more things to do and had a few issues on the w.e, my game is playable but doesn't deliver the experience I wanted to create.

So, one more day of rush (even if I go in compo, I stay "hardcore" mode, everything by myself until the end). Hopefully voters won't judge my game as a "team / assets-ready" game.

A small render of an altar I made. autel.png

Keep up folks!
