Red 7 standing by….

Looking forward to my first Ludum Dare Compo! Here goes nothin’.

Going to be using Scala, LibGDX, and whatever else I can get my hands on.

The base code I’ll probably be using can be found at https://github.com/JavadocMD/engine2d-ld28 if anyone’s interested.

I guess that’s how we do it!

Thanks to all you LDers for the inspiration and the courage to give this a try!

Robogenesis is my first entry and my first complete game! (In that it has a well-defined start and an end… the gameplay is slimmer than I was hoping for, but it’s a start.)

I hope you’ll give it a try and let me know what you think.

Let’s compo this pig!

I didn’t learn my lesson the first time, so here I am for seconds.

I’ve got Scala for days. LibGDX? No doubt. Eclipse? You know it, sweet thing. I’m here to make games and chew bubble gum, but I forgot to pick up bubble gum from the store today, so I guess I’ll just do the former.

You can join me on the Twitter as I spew my thoughts and crappy vector graphics into the universe. http://twitter.com/javadocmd

Remember how Batman has a sweet utility belt? Yeah I’ve got that too. Only instead of Batarangs it’s got implicit conversions. There’s no Grappling… Hook? Bat? only actor prototyping code. You can view it here if your eyeballs have the sheer fortitude required. http://github.com/JavadocMD/libgdx-util It contains up to six files. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.

DROPPING MIC SOUND

Keep on truckin’!

I’ve been watching the feed and I’m blown away by the quality of work. You are all some impressive sons-of-guns (and daughters-of-guns).

Here’s my night one progress.

Fear this ancient beast! From depths unknown to man, he has come to deliver his vengeance upon the mortals who disturbed him!

After Action Report

I wrote up an after action report for my Ludum Dare entry “It Came from Beneath the Surface of the Sea!” — a game about a monster who loves nap time.

I hope you’ll check it out! Inside I talk about doing character animation and AI for the first time, and the pre-deadline despair that I’ve seen others admit to.

In the end of course, Asiatic clam farmers know the secret: Never Give Up!

We’ll do it live!

Here’s my official “I’m in” post. Spent the week figuring out some new tech and new art tools. I have no framework code to show for it, just a paper full of keyboard shortcuts, a brain full of docs, and a heart full of righteous valor! (On second thought, that might just be gas.)

Java. LibGDX. Photoshop. My pump-up jam. Let’s do this.

Interstellar, Inc. — now with 25% More Lose!

Good news, everyone! Interstellar, Inc. has been updated with a (small) bug fix that unsticks the AI and opens up the possibility of horrible, horrible defeat!

Now you can play and enjoy the game that reviewers are calling:

  • “interesting”,
  • “neat”,
  • and “game”

Handy Photoshop swatches tool!

Getting your toolkit arranged for the LD Jam this weekend? Maybe you want to add this one to the list! Simply turn an image file into a Photoshop swatches file for fast and easy import. Great when combined with those color ramp generators found around the web. No more copy-pasting color values one at a time!
