I’m in – first timer

I’ll try to make something cool on the coming weekend. The starting time is 4 AM for me so I guess I’m starting on saturday. :)

I don’t really know about what engine to use or how I’m going to proceed. I think it will be a mess, but hopefully such a happy and creative mess that will output something playable and enjoyable at the end. 😉

Good Luck.

Do you know now what engine you’re using?

Thank you!

After 2,5 hours…

I have a pretty solid understanding of what I’m suppose to be doing. And I chose to ignore what I should be doing and started drawing the assets already. So yeah. Here’s a door:

I promise to start the mechanic testing now and do the rest of the assets after everything is working.

I know I’m probably going to run out of time, but such is life. :)

First timer is all out of breath

It was a roller coaster from getting shut out of my own house for an hour to some windows BSOD:s which made these 48 hours more exciting to say the least. I was doing first time anything in Unity and it was about 10 years since I did anything meaningful in Javascipt, so this was a learning experience like nothing else.

Here’s a glimpse what I managed to do in these last 48 hours CLICK ON THE PICTURE:

I wanted to do so much more with my Westbang homage, but time just ran out.

Thanks for this awesome experience! I’m going to review all of you’s games now! :)

I’m in – and it’s not going to be pretty…

Although if I have extra time I could make it pretty. :)

I started 101-ing unity and playmaker today so I’m way behind schedule. Fortunately I know how to make crappy graphics and sounds in a hurry beforehand.

Type: something 2d
Engine: Unity
Gfx: Adobe
Sound & music: FL studio and a mic Rode nt1a

Goal is to make either something very out-of-the-box and very interesting even if very short or if I lack the imagination trying to hone my non-existant skills on Unity and animation.

Break a leg you guys!

Jailocorp is out to get you

original version

cover_2.jpg

When the Compo deadline came up it was about 4 AM here in Finland and I went to my day job without any sleep. After that weird work day where I wasn't quite sure if something trivial my co-worker said was hilarious or not and a solid 14 hours of hitting the hay I started to polish off what I'd started. You can see some of those results from the gif below.

updated version

update_510.gif

In the upcoming days I reworked all the models, textures and tried to add all of the bells and whistles of a normal game, like say a pause screen, intro cinematic sequence to layout the scene for the player, UI-text on interactions what the player is about to do and a Game Over music.

I think I spent 2/3 of the time overall after the compo deadline figuring things out and improving the short experience that is Jailocorp. Overall I consider this a very successful participation, since I learned a lot and had fun learning it.

Now that I think I'm done with this game (unless It's too hard, incase I might add a hint system). It's your turn to tell me if it sucks or not. I'll be taking the whole weekend off to listen to your feedback, to play so many games you have made and of course reviewing them.

I'd like to thank Ludum Dare and everyone involved on making this such a nice game jam. It has made me push beyond my abilities and I'm still on that road.

Have a great weekend! Cheers!

I made two things

Well I had some spare time so if you have use for them, go ahead!

And I guess I'm in for the 3rd time for the jam as well.
