LD 40

I guess I'm in!

LD always come to my knowledge on such a short notice that I never join thinking that I'm "unprepared". I guess it's time to put an end to this procrastination.

I'm not even sure what I'm going to use though...

Good luck and have fun everyone!

End of Day 1

Life got in the way but I still managed to learn and create some nice art and mechanics for my game. I think I'll stick to it and focus on balance and creating some audio and props for some levels tomorrow. Let's get some sleep!

Let's rate some games!

I guess now that I got some sleep it's time for rating!

My Compo entry: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/40/high-protein-diet-dungeon

Please send me your links!

Rating some games right now!

Put your links in the comments bellow. Even if I don't rate it right now I'll definitely iterate through every single one eventually.

Also, if you're kind enough: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/40/high-protein-diet-dungeon

Dungeon Solitaire (More like Platformer Solitaire)

I just think that if you like platformers and puzzles games you should really check my compo entry. Maybe not?

Anyway, finally got some free time to be posting this and also rating some games. Leave your love bellow. I mean... your links.

That's quite an improvement over my last LD Compo!

And I even thought about skipping this LD because I didn't like the theme very much at first... Oh the irony.

In the end I loved it. Creativity ruled and that's always nice to watch, there were a lot of great entries. Thanks for everyone who rated and played my game. I guess now I'll have to keep working on this title and try to release a full game as I promised. Cheers guys!

PS: By the ratings I guess it's clear what I have to improve here, heh.

Goin for Compo!

Already setting up everything for yet another Ludum Dare! I probably won't do much today besides from brainstorming on the theme.

This time I'll try to stream everything at https://www.twitch.tv/lexmelotti. Feel free to join me but be warned that the content is probably going to be in Portuguese (BR).

Never done this before, but I've been watching @honest-dan so much on twitch I got motived to try this out! You should certainly check his channel at https://www.twitch.tv/honestdangames.

I'll be using Unity and whatever else I get at my disposal for creating assets. Paint.net, Inkscape, MagicaVoxel, Bfxr, BoscaCeoil and Audacity are probably going to be my tools for that.

Sacrifices in the Cat Yard

Yay! Finished in time for Compo! I know the game is quite simple but it's just as I intended. Recording audio, making sprites and everything all by myself is quite challenging (but I love it). This time I even had time to make some polishing! I'm really proud of myself.

Oh, and this time I was streaming everything! Great success!

It's late now and I'm eager to have a shower and go to bed. Tomorrow I'll start rating some games.

Congrats for all Compos and Keep on Rolling Jammers, 22 more hours to go!

My results for LD43

Even though I have reached highers scores with my previous Compo entry, this time I was able to get top 100 in all categories. Investing and learning a little more in graphics and audio was really my goal this time. And well, considering my previous scores on those categories that's a clear success.

I don't know what happened with Humor though. Really. I don't know. I wasn't really able to work the intro and ending as I wanted and tried to simplify things with humor instead. I guess having voice acting really makes people laugh, heh.

Submited a very simple game this time

I knew I wouldn't have much time for this LD so I went with a simplest idea I could think off. A guessing game. Fortunately I was able to do everything in about 10~12 hours (most of it drawing in paint, haha).

image.png

Anyway I'm very happy I actually made it in time even if it's not the most fun game out there.

Some ideas I had but I couldn't implement in time would be: * color command to make everything colored * sound command to add background audio for some of the picture assets * animate command to make some simple frame animations * real choices with different final picture outputs

Playing and Rating some games right now

Finally had some free time since the end of the Compo. Going to play and rate some games live on Twitch right now.

https://twitch.tv/lextatic_

Oh, btw I'm streaming in Portuguese but english speakers are always welcome!

Also, check my game and leave a comment and I'll definetly play and rate yours too.

Loop Back to the Future

Loop Back to the Future is my Compo submission for LD47!

Even though the core mechanics were pratically done by day 1, I still wasn't able to finish everything I could, like Intro Menu, Tutorial and Music.

I still think it was a very solid submission and a pretty fun concept. I also learned the basics of making Fire and Electricity VFX and I'm very very proud of results.

The tools I used for this game were:

  • Unity
  • Paint.net
  • Audacity
  • Vfxr

Day 1 progress on my lame fishing game clone

I know the game is kinda lame, but this time I was able to create all core gameplay mechanics AND menu flow, including victory condition, tutorial and pause logic. All on Day 1!

Now all that's left is level design, balancing, art, audio and juiceness. With 15 hours left I think I may be able to do it well.

I'm working with Unity, Audacity, Paint.net and other tools I'm finding along the way. Follow the progress live on https://twitch.tv/lextatic_ I speak 🇧🇷 and 🇺🇸.

Feedback needed!

I'm off to bed after a long day working on the core mechanics of my compo submission. Everything except the victory screen!

For the first time I'm uploading an unfinished version of the game early on to ask for feedback for QA purposes. If you got some spare time please try it out and leave a feedback in this post.

It should be easy to realize the gameplay and goals yourself, if not, that's exactly what I'm trying to figure out with this test. I'm mostly looking for feedback on things you didn't understand about the game, things you thought were too challenging or difficult, flows that are cumbersome and critical blocking bugs.

Art and juiciness is coming tomorrow :)

This gif should be enough to demonstrate the gameplay.

Play against unstable physics

Wanna test your engineering skills against some unstable physics?

Test out my Compo submission for this Ludum Dare's edition. The main mechanic was inspired by the well known indie game World of Goo. If you like that you're probably going to have some nostalgia playing Wibbly-wobbly Tower.

https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/49/wibbly-wobbly-tower

wibbly-wobbly-fall.gif

The game was made using Unity, Audacity, Garage Band and Paint.net. It's the first time I had a tablet do to some drawing and also it's the first time that I could actually make the music myself.

Aside from the balancing that could probably be better I think this is one of my best compo submissions so far. I had everything working on Day 1 and used Day 2 just for art, audio and polishing.

I hope you guys enjoy it!

Another successful Compo submission!

I'm very glad that I was able to submit another compo entry, unfortunately I wasn't able make a lot of posts during the JAM, but you know. Compo is tight.

Anyway, there you are. All feedbacks are welcome.

Come play with me! I'm online right now!

Yes, I did it! I made a fully functional online multiplayer game for Compo and I'm online playing it right now.

It’s like Minesweeper, but every 10 seconds your game gets swapped with someone else’s game who are also playing the game at that moment.

Unfortunately there aren't many players online and without someone playing the game it becomes just a regular Minesweeper.

But I'm online right now and I challenge you to either beat me in the rankings or crash the server with a lot of players, I'm positive it can handle over 100 players online (if only we had the audience).

MMO Minesweeper (Download only, sorry)

Screenshot.png

PS: There's no chat so I'll be checking this thread frequently if you want to talk.

WebGL port of my multiplayer Minesweeper is done!

It took me longer to switch the transport layer of my multiplayer engine to work with WebGL than to actually build the game. But it's finally done and you guys won't have to download anything anymore!

If you like minesweeper you should check it now on itch.io. Call out your friends, the more the merrier!

Another Compo in the Books!

Another Compo has been successfully completed! Unfortunately, I wasn't able to stream this time because I started my participation a little late and also had some technical problems with the stream setup.

For this jam, I made a game with 5 levels and 2 types of enemies, which is always less than what we plan. However, I was still very satisfied with the quality of the final product, especially the sound effects and visuals.

The part that I believe could have been improved is the lack of a tutorial and more instructions explaining why the player lost the level on the final screen. Despite this, the game has a very simple mechanic so it shouldn't be too much of a problem in the end.
