Revin' the Ludum Dare Engines!
VROOM! VROOM! Who else feels like they are at the red light, waiting for the signal to GO? :)
VROOM! VROOM! Who else feels like they are at the red light, waiting for the signal to GO? :)
We are sitting on the cusp of a great moment, a moment where we throw ourselves fully into the battle against creativity, motivation, and most notoriously... time. There will be moments where you will shout, you will cry, and you will question your very existence, but you will persevere. Some of us won't make it, some of us will fall... but we shall leave none behind! If you see a fallen comrade in code, pick them up, push them forward, and may the gods be with you! <3
Good luck!
My art partner and I had an idea right out of the gate, but implementing it... I don't think either of us got much sleep last night! :D
I hope I can actually pull a finish on this one! :D

So, it came to an end tonight... with 30 seconds remaining on the click, we uploaded an "almost" finished game.
We were just missing the introduction, the tutorial, the scoring system, the game balance, and a proper win/lose screen... but, we did get a playable prototype uploaded-- which I will call a success.
Congratulations to those who made it, my condolences to those who fell in battle for whatever reason... and may you all rise to face Ludum Dare again.
And definitely looking forward to playing many of the games born over the weekend in the coming days! :)
This will be my third Ludum Dare, and my third time at not finishing a game! BRING IT ON!
Don't let me down, Godot! I'm riding you hard this Ludum Dare! :D
I've taken the route of "Board Game Platformer".
This ought to be interesting...
My platformer board game is coming along slowly, very slowly. Just needs a little elbow grease... just a little...

Well, I've gotten a playable game... but, unfortunately, I'm going to have to drop out and call it quits. :( I don't know the Godot engine well enough to proceed with some (rather simple) tasks I need to finish this game. I had a lot of fun getting this far though, so maybe next time!

I thought I was going to drop out because of having to work over the weekend and issues with figuring out Godot... but, I pushed through it and released a bug riddled game! Yay me! :D I might be crossing the finished line beaten, bruised, and covered in bandaids, but I made it!

We're just under the eight hour clock and I am ready to Bare the Dare!
Every Ludum Dare I make a terrible game that never quite gets finished, and I will not disappoint, this time will not be any different! I shall bring the worst, terribly unfinished game I can!
I'll be using the Godot Engine, once again, with a slightly better understanding of it than the last Ludum Dare-- but, just barely.
Meet the future Ms Fergie Forker, an ambitious little forklift with hopes and dreams of perfectly packing a warehouse; but, all of them to be smashed on the floor because of terrible driving mechanics.
I'm using the Godot VehicleBody node for the first time, so it's been an interesting night; especially while combining the VehicleBody with operating fork lift mechanics. :D

Fergie Forker has gotten a little more personality... I still need to add brake lights, a hazard light, and few little things (like maybe eyebrows?), but we'll see how much time I actually have! :D

Fergie in frightening fork lifting action! https://twitter.com/LillyByteGames/status/1028314722498736128
Fergie Forker has finally found a job, but she needs help keeping the warehouse organized! Sales are slow, but products keep coming in! :D
The core game slice is complete, just need to polish features, add a title, and hopefully this will be ready to roll; but, I won't have tomorrow to work on it as far as I know-- so, whatever gets done tonight, gets done!

I didn't think I was going to make it to the end due to time... in the end, I made it.
Fergie Forker is... ready. Or, I hope it's ready. It's a game! Give 'er a try, while I go and fall unconscious. :D

Woot, standing over the cliff of another Ludum Dare! I am already ready to rock...

... yet to be named totally realistic goat sacrifice simulation by Phanxgames (art) and LillyByte (programming:barely).
You can check out one of us on Twitter, if you so desire. Choose! ;)

... to have an excuse to create, yet, another terrible game!
My last couple entries were done in the Godot Engine, but I've learned quite a lot about the engine since then, so let's see what happens! :)
I'm very curious to see how many games will be made in Godot this time around!
A number of Ludum Dares ago (41), I created a horribly rushed and buggy game called Platboarder. (ref: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/platboarder) This was when I was much newer to Godot and learning it's initial ins and outs, it wasn't an absolutely terrible game... okay, yeah, it was a terrible game...
It was one of the more challenging Ludum Dares, combine two incompatible genres of games, and I had chosen "platformer" and "board game". It was tough, because I want to find the two genres that would have been the hardest to combine. And, you can't really get much different from an intense action platform and a casual, chill board game, right? (I'm excluding Risk from casual and chill, as we know murders have happened over Risk).
However, I decided to look at that game and see what I can do with it, took a week, and it turned into this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RWJaOVdnWpA
Sometimes, that terrible game, with a little love, can become something just a little more interesting!
