Getting Ready!
Here is the code that I will use that I have made some time ago.
Fairly basic. but I hate typing it for each project 😛

sorry for the programmer graphics.

back to work

Hi there, after failing to finish my LD25 game I decided to try again for LD26. Lots of new stuff has happened since that time and I hope I can include all of that jazz in this post.
In the process of making my LD25 game I thought I had mastered C# XNA sufficiently to make a more graphical game, as my LD24 game had been decent in my eyes but the art was kind of lacking. I thought I could implement realtime raycasted shadows and a nice floaty-physics system to boot. However doing this in one weekend was still challenging and I felt the urge to just copy paste code from my other projects growing stronger. Nearing the end of LD25 I figured is was not the graphical fidelity, but rather the color scheme I had to improve.
So for the upcoming LD I will most likely, though I cannot say with full confidence:
Visual Studio 2010
C# OpenTK
milkytracker and FL studio for audio
Notepad++
lots of IRC and Coffee.
Other things that have been happening, my setup has changed to a full tower thanks to my awesome brother finding it for 20 euros
This is a Cooler Master HAF X and I am totally loving this thing ( apart from the fact that it weighs 31 pounds while being empty. I guess you can say HAF: Heavy As F*ck ).
And another thing that has been happening: I am working on my first big project now. And this can be said with certainty. I have almost condemned myself to finish something big for once. so yeah, look forward for any posts on that in the future.
Also if you want any other posts of me talking about random stuff, consider to kick your shoes off, grab a cup of coffee and follow my tumblr: www.metaldemon.tumblr.com
cheers and good luck if you are joining LD26!

Hi fellow indies,
I just wanted to write this post as a thank you to all the people that have brought me this awesome indie experience thus far.
Even though I am still in highschool and don’t know that much of creating games yet. Ever since I joined the community and began to talk on the irc channel I have developed my passion for games and creating games even more.
You guys have shown me what it is like to create a game in time to make a deadline. To work together to solve problems and all in all have a great time!
All of you continue to amaze me. Keep up the good work and good luck with LD26!
Cheers!

So, after meeting up with antonijn just yesterday evening we quickly set up our pcs and started programming 😀
We both are working on our own game. antonijn is working at some sort of 3D wizardry and I am working at a shmup!
Be sure to follow antonijn as he makes his game! www.twitch.tv/antonijn
here is a pic of our setup:
Good luck with your game!
After building the fundamentals of the game in a few hours I was pleased to start working on gameplay and content.
Now I have time to add a little depth to the game. (music, soundeffects, gameplay tweaks).
My game is a space shmup starring a lost fighter pilot that ended up in another universe filled with angry minimalistic geometric shapes. Get ready to fight off a horde of quads, triangles and circles!
This is the third time I have joined Ludum Dare, and since people like post mortems I decided to write one 😛
What went wrong:
– Framework choosing. After submitting my game I realised after a couple of people tried it that the game did not work on Windows 8. This was due to that OpenTK’s input did not work on Windows 8.
OpenTK is also not updated after windows 8 came out. Luckely Antonijn’s awesome framework did work on Windows 8. I have completely rewritten the game in 45 minutes to work again 😀
– Planning. Once again I just sat down and started coding. I must force myself from now on to write some things on paper first so I can scetch out solutions to problems early and don’t have to waste time working on
something that won’t work, or scrapping a feature completely. I had more in mind for this project but I wouldn’t have made the deadline if I tried to add those features.
What went right:
– MultiPlatform. My game runs on windows xp with net framework 4.0, opengl 1.1 and up. also the game does work on linux if you have mono. This is a first for me and I can totally see the benefits over having more platforms to choose from
– Timelapse and gameplay video, The previous timelapse and gameplay video I made for Ludum Dare, which was for the LD24 challenge, was kind of screwed up due to encoding and youtube and wireless and what not.
Now both videos are crisp. The timelapse is a bit long with its 20 minutes. Hopefully the music makes up for this.
– “Thou shalt have playable quickly!”. The game quickly became playable, with all the advantages that brings.
Not that this post is written to advertise for a couple of ratings just before the rating process is over, but if you are somehow intrigued what kind of game I am talking about, here is a link to the game:

I’m in for my fifth Ludum Dare!
Some of you guys already know me from the irc channel or have perhaps seen one of my games.
For those of you who don’t know who I am:
I am a 17.5 year old long haired metalhead / crazy person that enjoys developing games and making music.
I have been programming for about 2 years and playing guitar for nearly 10 years.
From LD24 on I have never missed a Ludum Dare event and I am not planning on stopping that tradition!

Hai
And wow, I have not posted here in a long while. Sorry for that! D:
However. I have participated in the mini LD 50. And here is a little post to show it off.
So here is Pew pew Vikingstein 2.5D
It is a first person shooter demake of Wolfenstein 3D. I made it because… well… some people asked me why I think Wolf3D would ever need a demake. I don’t quite know. I just did it. woops.
I also have a timelapse video up for people interested:
If thi got you interested in some way. Give it a go and tell me what you think. You can get it here:

That was just genial!
Good luck!
