My OCD has been winning most of the battles about where I spend my time, which sucks. It spent way too much time last night trying to fix a glitch in some abundant-music stuff. The rational part of my brain did win a victory today though; the timing indicator on the left is a second png that’s a duplicate of the one on the right, because the first few things I tried to flip it didn’t work, and all the solutions I knew would take a little more work.

For now I’m going to work on getting this thing working in fight mode with one button per character, and then I’ll add in campaign mode, then flesh out the story (I don’t care what you say. That shit’s important, yo.), and then work on making the fighting mode more complex at higher levels. But for the immediate right now, I’m going to work on making this thing less ugly.

If you’ve missed my other posts, I’m making a tycoon / time management game based on Kafka’s A Hunger Artist.

Currently activated debugging features:

• The tab button restores your energy.
• The space button toggles speedrun mode, which is unstable.
• The ` button toggles Flixel’s built in debugger.

Known incomplete features:

• People all wait until the end of the day to leave.
• People just teleport to their seats.
• People who bring their friends don’t sit next to them.
• Talking doesn’t work. The talking button causes you to sing.
• The Impresario is completely unconcerned by anything that is happening.

Bugs reported so far by players like you!:

• People are moved by singing and meditating even after you run out of energy. (Fixed in my local copy but not the demo.)

We created a card game for 2-6 players that requires nothing but a standard deck of cards!

I have a long history of making multiplayer games for Ludum Dare, so one thing I'm familiar with is the challenge of getting people to play them. So I figured I'd start a list of as many as I can find. If you're a player and you know you're going to have some friends over some time next week or something, you can use this list to find games to play with them.

This list is going to start with just our game, but I'll check the comments and list games from there when I can, and add any I find in the wild. If someone else already has a list going, point me to it and I'll merge them.

Oh, and if you want me to change anything about the descriptions, let me know. I might just be skimming :)

So, as people always insist on telling me every time I make one, multiplayer games have a hard time getting ratings in LD. Part of the issue is finding a second player for a game that is going to be probably only a few minutes long before you go back to poking at one player games. So I'm making a list! This way, when you have some people over, you can consult the list and knock a few of them out at the same time!

It's been a few years since I've done this, and in that time, apparently, the LD website stopped bumping posts that get replies, so this isn't as easy to get eyes on as in the past.

If you've got a game that's difficult to get people to play for setup-related reasons, like you need weird hardware or lots of people, I'm gathering them in this post from yesterday linked below. Give that post (or this one, but I'll probably delete this one later) a reply with the game / platform and I'll add it to the list, and do occasional bump posts like this one so more people will see it.

Took a few days, but Watch Wizard, the game made for Fitbit Senses and Versa 3s, is now available even to people who don't have very specific watches!

Now you can play it on a big screen!

So big!

It only works on desktop browsers for now, but over the next few days, I will also try to port it to mobile web so you can play it on your phone the same way you would on a Fitbit, by tilting the screen to make your little wizard guy run downhill.

Most of them can be played on emulator or virtual machine, and some of them (e.g. my fitbit game!) have more accessible ports added after the deadline, so might be easier to play now than they were when the list was created.

I have once again made a game for uncommon hardware, this time for a PlayDate.

There is a web player you can use (instructions under "Pulp Webplayer" on the game's page) or you can play it on an actual PlayDate if you have one. In either case, it's more setup than an embedded html5 game, so I'm bringing back a sporadic tradition of mine, the Uncommon hardware / unusual setup games list.

If you have a game that runs on weird hardware (whether or not there is an emulation option), let me know in the comments and I will add it to the list. If you run on an old or uncommon OS that needs emulation or a virtual machine, throw that in there too. VR? Multiplayer? Board game? I'll list it. See someone else's game that fits the description? Throw it in too in case they missed this post.

I'll keep the master list updated and repost it every few days, so more people can see the games when they have the energy to try games with non-standard setups.
