Calling it a night

The compo may be over soon, but I still have polish left to add in order to sweeten up my game. Therefore, I will continue tomorrow and submit my game to the jam.

I am really happy with where I am today, and even though my music skills are non-existent, I managed to find some algorithmically generated soundtracks that might suit my game somewhat.

For the first time ever, I am also providing all the sprites myself, so don't judge me too hard.

This Ludum Dare I started 12 hours late, but I still think that I managed to create an enjoyable game in the 60 hours that remained.

Yet again, I turned to GameMaker Studio 2, and this time it went even smoother than ever before. My game is a fast-paced bullet-hell inside a computer: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/40/my-little-corruption.

This is the second time that I have made all of the sprites myself, and I am pretty satisfied (My first LD, I did a 3d game). A lot of this, however, is owed to two small shaders that react on certain actions in the game.

Previously, I have never been happy with the music. Sound effects are often okay, but the music almost always turns out as a horrible mess. This time is very different, and I am happy to ship the music that is as erratic as the game itself. Enjoy the corrupted tunes of wicked electric instruments!

I'm done for this time. I made a turn-based platformer, and it turned into a challenge. Luckily, state-machines can be used to handle movement, and interactions. Sadly, they are a bit tedious to handle in GameMaker Studio 2, as my setup required a lot of code duplication at times when there was no good way to have enter/exit strategies.

Hopefully, the levels are a bit tricky. I have managed to complete them all, but it still takes me a few attempts every time I try.

Most of the visuals turned out great, and the sound is what I would call ok. The music is also rather pleasant. I really hope that you will like it. Will you get the perfect run?
