Suggestions wanted for post-compo

So, I’ve had a lot of nice comments regarding the puzzle mechanics in my entry, and I’m up for keeping on the work with more content and polishing, possibly some kind of future release if everything goes well.

But of course there are things to polish on! And I would like your suggestions.
The main critics I’ve gotten is that the input and collision is hard to grasp due to the perspective.
If anyone has suggestions of how that could be resolved I’m very thankful for your opinion.

My thought is that although totally top-down could be a more control-friendly option it makes the art style kind of tricky. Instead I thought it could be good to just visualize the collider more clearly by for example adding a distinct shadow or similar under players, aligned with the colliding area.

In case you might have some ideas, you can find my entry here, or just leave a comment below.

A new challenge (Post-compo)

I have started to work on my post-compo version and have made tweaks for more easy controls, with less confusion about the collision areas.

And there is also a new level!
You’ll find it in the Post-compo version:

Music and sounds added!

The post-compo version of Undetected is now updated with sound effects, a brand new soundtrack and several new levels. Still need to tweak some of the levels but overall things are coming together.

LD 39

Multiplayer Viking Arena!

Making an online viking-themed deathmatch for the Jam together with spiderspy. This is it for today.

Next up: gore and multiplayer.

Will use unity's networking, let's see if we pull it off :D

Looking forward to my 12th LD jam!

Hyped for another gamejam! Hoping to spend most of the weekend with some relaxed jamming from home. Might make some music-related game.

Going well!

Voodoo tower defense in the makings https://imgur.com/gallery/PgVf6vz

We made it!

Help Shamanus to fend off the undead voodoo army and save the jungle.

We didn't go all in this time but still managed to finish something pretty neat. If we had more time i would have made än awesome soundtrack but I had other things to deal with. Hope you like it!

I'm in! With machine learning AI

Late to the party due to other activities, but here we go! Will try to finish for the compo.

Will try to make a game where the player is automated with an AI, and you have to help him/her get past obstacles in the level by acting god and interacting with the level.

Here's an AI training in progress: training-the-hero.gif

Help Mr Pinky!

The AI for the main character is working! You control the level. Mechanics are working well now :D

Pretty happy since I was away the entire Saturday. Now let's make that character and some more levels, hope I can finish on time! Good luck everyone!!

Don't let Mr Pinky die :o

Managed to hand in yesterday even if I missed the first whole day due to other plans! :champagne_glass: cheers https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/46/help-mr-pinky

Machine Learning success!

I wanted to explore Machine Learning this jam so I taught Mr. Pinky to walk by himself. You control the level obstacles to help him home.

More specifically I'm using ML Agents for Unity, with imitation learning so it learns based on recordings of human playing. I've been working with ML agents before but not a lot with imitation learning so this was a good chance to learn it better! Really happy that I managed to get the AI working. After solving quite some bugs with it, I still managed to pull off the rest of the game, just not with as many levels as I hoped.

What's behind that door??

Could it be that Mr Pinky finally found his way home?

Has been a long time since I did the compo but I'm happy with how it turned out.

Thanks all for a nice gamejam!

Soundtrack released!

Thanks everyone who played so far!

I've just released the soundtrack on SoundCloud since many of you liked it.

The link is on my Game Page in the downloads.

Cheers all and thanks for a great jam!

I'm in. Evolution!?

I might go down the road of evolutionary algorithms. The circle of life!

evolution-documentary.gif

video from the nineties, won't link it here since you should be making a game instead of watching youtube

They're... Evolving!!

It's the circle of life, but YOU decide who will reproduce.

Evolutionary AI exploits physics

Ahhaha of course it was just a matter of time before the AI started to exploit physics... They learnt to grow a long leg that spawns in the ground, causing the physics engine to move them out of the ground !

Our old LD game is on Steam Festival

Hi all! Super excited to tell that we've now released a demo of Source of Madness, our old entry from Ludum Dare 39. The demo can be played on the Steam Festival between 7th - 13th Oct.

Try the Demo: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1315610/SourceofMadness/

So much has happened since then, but if it wasn't for Ludum Dare at that time we wouldn't be where we are now. There's still work to be done before the full release in 2021, but things are really coming together now.

I really hope this will motivate you to keep on making games! Cheers, and I hope to talk more here or on our discord: https://discord.gg/D9kgnBh
