Don’t think in terms of winning or losing! There are going to be at least a couple thousands submissions. Just have fun and learn!

Gotta keep the momentum up

Listening to Caffeinated Country on IHeartRadio to keep me pumped.

Drank 4 glasses of tee so far.

Tools

Programming: C#

Graphics Library: SFML.Net

Physics Library: Box2d or My Own

IDE: Visual Study 2013

Art: Paint.NET

Audio: Audacity and MuLab

Can’t wait to begin. Last year was a failure. Learned so much and made lots of new friends. That’s what it’s all about.

Need Ideas

I need ideas for a game now that the ludum dare is over.

Join the chat and watch the broadcast http://twitch.tv/robodylan

We will be throwing together “something” based off of user submitted ideas.

Hopefully we will get some sort of thing.

Open to all ideas.

Goal is randomness.

See you there

I鈥檓 Cursed

For some reason swim practice always seems to get in the way of my ludum dare.

LD28: Swim Christmas party

LD29: Swim Banquet(Award Ceremony)

LD30: Swim Clinic(A chance to train with an Olympic swimmer)

I don’t know what to do. I have went to all of the past swim events that for some reason always land on the ludum dare. I planned on missing everything this year no matter what and it looked like there wasn’t going to be anything going on this weekend and I just found out about this yesterday. Well I will probably only lose 4 hours of dev time, I guess I’ll try and make it up my staying up two hours later each day.

stop whining, make a game in less than 48 hours. there are people who made games in an hour. may not be great, but still a game (Flappy Bird much?)

C# and SFML.net 2d tile game template

Available to anyone who needs some where to start.

Statement of my name is appreciated but not necessary.

Need help coming up with a name

Simplify what is and translate it into latin. For Example: Subaqeum Craquem = Yellow Submarine for last years LD

Didn鈥檛 make the compo, shooting for jam

Success at the following

1. Tile maps

2. Tile map loader

3. Physics

4. Character

5. Entities

6. Enemies

7. Game play and mechanics

8. Bullets

9. Ray casting

Failure at:

1. Game Idea

2. Art Assets

I have failed this year to come up with an idea . I ended up writing a really good platformer engine that could easily be 聽turned into anything. Will probably shoot for jam, but I will likely not follow the theme. Also I suck at art and was unable to get good enough art into the game. . I guess my productivity juices were flowing but my creativity pipes were clogged.聽I didn’t sleep the entire time and plan on not sleeping until after the jam. Fueled by amount 30 cups of tea and 2 * 25 minute power naps.

A new type of game

I recently got my hands on a oculus rift. I will not be able to experience it until Christmas Day sadly but I can’t wait to pair this with the Sdk and submit some of the first oculus rift compatible games to ludum dare 32.

LD32 In Review

The theme this LD came as quite a surprise. I would have probably gotten a lot more done if I didn’t spend so much time working out a good idea, even though my idea was ok at best in the end. This LD was also the first time I used my own Game / Physics engine, this quite a good choice as it allowed me to figure out what I was missing in it and ended up adding more code to my engine then the actual game itself. Between now and next LD I am gonna try and work on coming up with good ideas as the only reason I have yet to finish the making of a game is because I have trouble coming up for one in the first place. The end result is not overly unique or creative, but it is quite polished and non-buggy. The main problem I had last year, aside from coming up with an idea, was art. I practiced drawing sprite between last LD and now and I was pleasantly surprised at the outcome of the sprites this time around.

Anyways, If you would like to play the game you can find it here:聽http://ludumdare.com/compo/author/robodylan/

and you can find my game engine here:聽https://github.com/robodylan/Dunn-2D (Note: I added some code into the engine that really should have gone into the game)

LD33

I鈥檓 in and I wrote a map editor

I’m for what I believe to be my 6th time(I’m losing track)

IDE: Visual Studio 15

Graphics: Paint.NET and GIMP

Map Editor: (See Below)

Sound: Audacity

Also to practice for Ludum Dare I decided to write a map editor today just to get familiar with my game workflow again.

I kinda got out of hand and 12 Hours I had a fully functional map editor.

It features a very simple UI and I thought I should post it here to see if anyone is interested in using it for their game, has functionality I could add to it, or something that they think needs fixing.

The project is available on github here:聽https://github.com/robodylan/MapEditor2k15 (Accepting any better name suggestions)

I will also be streaming here聽http://www.twitch.tv/robodylan/ (@9:00)
