LD29

Hey there for the first time, Ludum Dare!

At first i want to say hi! This is my first ludum dare. And here is a screenshot (from two hours ago) what my game looks like after 3h of coding. (yeah, entered the compo 18 hours late)
Enjoy!

Finished my first Ludum Dare

So yeah, i finished my game. Not really happy with how it turned out, as plans were much bigger, but hey, it doesn’t look too bad :)
Grab it while it’s hot!

Thanks for all the fun,  Ludum Dare!

Singularity teaser

Soo, the game i am working on is called Singularity, and since i’ve just finished the menu, i thought i might show you what it looks like and give a preview of the music involved.

Enjoy c:

PS: The game is NOT black and white, and it is NOT inspired by those flash’ Shift’ games 😉

Pong Mania

So.. Yesterday i started working on a new game, a prototype of sorts. Today i casually check ludum dare page, and guess what? The theme for MiniLD fits my game!
The game’s called Pong Mania, and it’s nowhere near finished, and it’s still not fully playable. But hey. It looks cool. Check it out here:

And have a screenshot:

Hope you like it!

Pong Mania got an update!

Welp, MiniLD is still going, so i am still updating my game. And now it got a pretty big one.

For starters – the game now features sounds. Yay!

Second thing? Main Menu, through which you can select a gamemode you want to play:

screenshot1

But what is that? 4 Paddles?

Yep. The game features two gamemodes. Classic pong, and 4 paddles, which looks like this:

screenshot4

You basically play as two paddles at once. And no, it’s not as easy as it looks.

So, click here to check out the game. Hope you like it!

I’m in, yay!

And i plan on streaming the whole 48 hours @ twitch.tv/themorfeus < be sure to follow me!

Tools i’ll use:
– LibGDX!
– SFXR
– FL Studio
– GIMP

Good luck to all participants, it’s all about the fun! 😀

I’m in, and streaming!

For the first time in  my life, i’m using a dual monitor setup, and it’s freaking amazing.

Once again, the tools i’ll use:

IDE: InteliJ IDEA
– LibGDX
– GIMP
– sfxr
– FL Studio

I’ll also be:
– Drinking lots of coffe and coke (the drink, not the drug)
– Listening to dubsteps from YouTubes. Best music for coding, period.
– Streaming @ twitch.tv/themorfeus < waiting for you there!

Oh, and good luck to all participatnts!

I am streaming!

So, i’d started streaming, but noone is watching, which is sad as the stream’s damn interesting (i think so anyway)

Check it out here

First screenshots…

I highly advise you to check the previous post for more info!

scr1s

This is the screen you will see the most in the game
(Well, you will see only that aside from the story like dialogue etc.)
(Oh and also it won’t be that small of course, don’t want to spoil too much 😛 )
That, and 2 PDFs containing the machine’s documentation and your assignment.

I said my game is nerd only.

Also, i need feedback! Whatcha think, guys and gals?

Stacktrace timelapse!

So, i had written an assembly coding simulator, including the assembly part, this Ludum Dare, called…

Stacktrace

And i made a timelapse out of it (using chronolapse – great program btw)!

Check out the game here

And check out the timelapse down below!

Big fail on my part.

logold

So, i failed miserably. I am constantly uploading bugged versions of the game.
But that last one… gosh, it jumped straight to the ending!

Anyway, i think that the game should be fine now. All tests ok. All bugs fixed.
I think

Play it here.

So you were debugging for longer than the actual compo lasted? 😛

Hey, it looks like it’s working for me now. I have to run to work, but I’ll be able to play once I get back. Also don’t feel bad, I had an entry that took four tries to get working for everyone. In my case it was a parser crashing on reading decimal numbers that didn’t work for locales that used a comma for the decimal separator instead of the period I’m used to.

I am sorry, Zachtronics.

Nobody’s going to believe this, but here we go:
When i created stacktrace, my LD33 entry, i knew it was inspired by something i had already seen some time ago. But i didn’t know what at the time.
Just a random game about coding in assembly, that i had seen somewhere sometime ago. It was TIS-100
TIS-100 sat in my mind quietly after i watched a review of it. And i forgot about it. During LD i had remembered that there was a game about coding in assembly, so i thought why not have a go at creating something simmilar?
Well, turns out it is a bit too simmilar. Mechanic-wise that is. They both need the player to read documentation first, both machines spew out random data etc.
And, trust me that was NOT intentional. Human subconsciousness can be a bitch sometimes. And this time it was.
Still, have fun if you want to play it (here), just like i did creating stacktrace. Hopefully it is not considered plagiarism.
Check out the ‘original’, TIS-100 by Zachtronics here: http://www.zachtronics.com/tis-100/
I’m sorry for stealing your idea, even though i did not know about it at the time.

About why i am writing this: I just remembered that there was a game like that. And i checked it out. And then i rewatched the review. And it hit me.

By that logic, all programming games are ripoffs of TIS-100.

Ludum Dare 48

I'm in.

It's been a while since I last participated in a Ludum Dare event (it was still back on the old site!), but now - I'm back in, and fully prepared to create and finish a game (and for the first time I won't be going solo!)

I wish you all lots of good luck. If you participate - remember to sleep well, eat healthy, and have lots of fun during this 48th Ludum Dare!

Progress of Day 2

https://youtu.be/hX5wdwbrLSs

I have a lot of fun making stuff look and sound nice this ludum dare. Though i sometimes feel like this is a kind of procrastination on a Jam, especially since if you ask me what does the player have to do in the game exactly my answer will probably be:

Wait, so games are supposed to have GAMEPLAY?!

Deep BO-12 is out!

post_header.png

These past 3 days have been filled with lots of hard work, but I feel like it paid off in the end. Together with @j4 we've managed to create a pretty decent FPS, even though at the start of the 3rd day we had no clue what the game was gonna turn out to be.

Have a little sneak peek of what the game was like before we've added enemies:

https://youtu.be/OvsMgei92-U

Hope you all had a wonderful and fun jam!

I'm off to sleep.

bo12.gif

Reports from BO-12 suggest being near minimal rating capacity!

bo12-action.gif

Deep BO-12 - A Jam entry that i made with @j4 - has almost enough ratings to get a score!

https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/48/deep-bo-12

If you like FPS games with grappling hooks - here's one created in 72 hours during the Jam. We've poured a lot of work & love into it, and we'd love to see you all play and - hopefully - enjoy it!

While we're at it, here's the super-awesome portal opening that i'm really proud of, and you can experience it at the end of the game:

Enjoy!

Brainstorm timelapse!

The neat thing about using Procreate for note-taking is that you can share your entire process with the world afterwards! Here's a timelapse of how brainstorming for ideas went this year:
