New To LD: I’m In!

I’m new to the whole Ludum Dare scene but my buddy that’s done the jam a few times has encouraged me to try it out and I finally caved. I think I’m a little late to be posting that I’m in now… but anyway.

Language: AS3
Engine: Flash
Graphics: Photoshop CS4
Audio: … errr… to be decided, I’ve never made my own audio

Good luck everybody!

I'm down for a Dare

This will be my second time entering the dare, last time I learnt a lot of harsh lessons and I'm determined to see I don't repeat them.

Best of luck to all that are entering as well

Progress for my Entry

Here's what i've got so far, i'm reusing some old graphics but I still think they look nice.

Finally done!

So I've finally finished, and with uploading and submitting out of the way I can finally relax and begin the ever important step of dissecting my approach, mentality and mistakes made during the Jam.

Last Jam I learned a lot about time management, three days is not a lot of time when you have to program AND create game assets and so I am VERY glad I decided to create a lot of the data structure and boiler plate code a week before hand, this code helped a great deal in giving some organisation to the mess that was thrown in during the compo.

Lessons learned this time around are one, UI based, whilst creating my entry I had no idea what or where anything I made for the user to see needed to be placed, and this lead to a large delay that could be worked on. And two, despite me trying to cut back on the scope of my game I have still opted to create a game that was a tad too unrealistic, "Aliens vs Rng" is a game that uses Randomly generated Dialog for it's humor and as such needs a large library of text to call upon so the player doesn't quickly exhaust all of his options, which is exactly what will happen in my game as I was only able to put in three complete dialog trees which will entertain for all of 10 seconds.

Well I hope others did better than myself and take the time to reflect and improve further, Best of luck.

Come play "Aliens vs Rng"

Will destroy life on purpose?

Ludum Dare is drawing to a close!

And with that, it's time for the last minute wave of shameless self promotion for those last few votes! But unlike the masses I will not be... oops! Oh no... I've "accidentally" dropped my game link and a snazzy screenshot... how careless of me.

Here we go again!

The big Four Zero is upon us, and before it officially begins we must prepare for the battle ahead.

will be using Javascript and any open source tools I run across to make assets.

Good luck to all
