My First Game Jam

This is my first game jam ever and I am really looking forward to it.  Ryan Poolos told me about it at my first ever conference, RWDevCon.  I’m 16years old and I’ll be using scene kit to make my game!

Good luck

Still Working…

Chose my game idea really late, but it’s starting to come along.  Little mistake with Cocoapods and Blender can’t export Y-Up, but now that thats figured out I can start adding gameplay and finishing the scene setup.

Too Late to start over?

So I was trying to get a car moving in scene kit using a SCNPhysicsVehicle and Scene Kit decided to complain and give me a weird bug.  Pretty sure it’s because blender is Z-Up and Scene kit is Y-Up.      I’m starting over. :)

My game and the PARCC

I’m in school rn so I can’t work on my game, but I’m not taking the PARCC so I’m making my game’s character out of wood. I’ll show the finished version in a bit. Comment and I’ll make the first person’s character that does. I’ll have some time later and I’ll make it then!

How to deploy iOS game?

My game is made in Xcode for iOS and I don’t have a paid developer account so any suggestions on how to deploy for ludum dare?

If you dont have a paid developer account it is impossible to deploy

Yeah, that probably wont work but maybe you could upload a video of your game so your work isn’t wasted.

That stinks I guess I’ll send a video then.

The only way this would work is if you would invite every person with an iPhone/iPod/iPad to your house and install the debug version over XCode. Apple is pretty restrictive with distribution.

Didn’t Finish and Other Game Jams

I didn’t finish my game, but wouldn’t be able to deploy without a paid iOS membership anyway.  If you want to play, you can download the source and play it in Xcode.  This was my first game Jam and I was wondering what the other big game jams were?

MiniLD Game TestFlight

I’ve been working on a new game since RWDevCon 2016 called “To Russia With Love”, but might be change the name to “Arms Race”.  It is a colonization game which goes along with the theme, but since I’ve been working on it for months, I won’t be entering it.  I just wanted to get some followers on it’s twitter and instagram account, since it will be going into TestFlight Beta soon.  Thanks to all who follow!

All Done!

For my first compo entry, I think it came out nice. Completely different game than I had intended to make but it's still fun. Probably a little too easy though.

New Computer and New Games to Play

I bought a computer off of Craigslist to install Amazon Lumberyard onto. Unfortunately I could not even open it because the GPU was so old. About halfway through Ludum Dare the graphics card I bought came and I installed it. Now I have a PC to run all of the windows-only games for Ludum Dare!

I can't wait to see what you guys have come up with!

Blackout - HTML Version Uploaded

I've uploaded the HTML version of my game, Blackout. It seems to only run in Firefox. However I've only tested it in Firefox and Safari. It should work in Chrome but I have not tested it. I'd still recommend the downloadable versions as you'll probably get a better experience.

Here's a GIF of my game: blackout-gif.gif

Thanks for the great feedback so far! Send me some of your games to rate as well!

Blackout sent for App Store Review!

I've ported my Ludum Dare Compo game to mobile and have submitted it to the App Store for review. I'll post again if/when it gets approved.

You can play my game here. I'll be removing the web version as there is a weird bug in it. For now, the standalone versions work as expected. I'm close to the elusive 20 reviews and I'll be sure to keep reviewing everyone's games!

Blackout approved on the App Store!

I submitted my game to the app store after porting it and it got approved in record time! You can find it here.

Note: The controls are much harder on iOS. I will continue to make improvements to the iOS controls. Send me any suggestions you have!

You can find my game page for the compo here.

What's everyone listening to?

I've got my playlists set but I feel they may be a little short. Recently I've been listening to Keldian, who have now taken my top spot for my favorite band.

Personally I like listening to Symphonic/Power Metal but I'm curious what you guys are listening to. What are your favorite bands or songs you're listening to right now? Feel free to share playlists too!

Also, I really hate calling it metal because it's more hard rock and everyone assumes Scream-O.

My playlists are all downloaded unfortunately but I find a lot of stuff on last.fm so here's my loved tracks: https://www.last.fm/user/wviper3/loved

It's not much, but it's a start

I've starting working on a Ludum Dare iOS client. With 6 months now till the next LD I should have this working and looking pretty good before the next one.

Let me know what you think and any features you'd look for in an app like this.
