I. Am not. Prepared!

I, am not, prepared!

Illidan_Stormrage

So for some reason I thought LD was next weekend and didn’t find out that it was this weekend until yesterday. Oops! :V

My usual teammates are too busy, and I’m super rusty with any engine I would’ve used, so screw it I’ll just make a board game! What could go wrong?

Snacks have been acquired, XSplit configured, time to do my first solo LD…

A little bit late, but I’m in!

Finals have sucked away my usual teammates, so I guess I’m making a board game solo again. Not that I’m complaining though, tabletops are awesome. 😉

Y’know what else is awesome? Dice Normal Maps!

Dice Normals_512

What’s not awesome is figuring out how to evenly distribute 10 different faces across 55 d6’s, with as few duplicate dice as possible. (If anyone has any advice on this, it would be greatly appreciated!)

Luckily dice are the only component, so that and playtesting are all that I need to take care of for the rest of the weekend! 😀

Is this another “I’m In” post? Yes, yes it is.

Not my first LD, or even my first solo LD, but this WILL be my first solo LD using Unity!
It’ll also be my first attempt to make a full game in Unity, instead of just a little sandbox for learning how the engine works.

No idea what kind of game I’m gonna make yet, but I’m mostly going to be using this weekend as a learning exercise, so I’m not too concerned about what comes out.
It’s the joooouuurneeeey~~ that matters! ;v

My First "I'm In" Post on the New Site :D

Doing my first jam where I'm the programmer instead of the artist, and I haven't touched Unity since the last LD. :joystick:

What could go wrong?

Slow Progress

So far I'm two for two on spending waaaay too long trying to figure out an annoying quirk of Unity's physics engine that's getting in the way of my game's core mechanics.

Well, I may not be able to code all of the features I wanted to (again), but I can't say I didn't get anything out of this LD. (Even if one of those things is that the more I want to get fancy with Unity, the more I wind up hating it )

Anyways, here's our Giant, Drunk Astronaut wading through the ocean.

I am what the kids these days refer to as "In"

Who needs a normal sleep schedule anyways? They're as overrated as actually touching the game engine you intend to use for game jams in between said jams.

Hopefully everything I've learned about UDK from A Hat In Time modding over the past month won't get in the way as I blow the quarter-year's worth of dust off of Unity for the umpteenth time. Should be fine though, I've got a pretty good idea of the kind of game I wanna ~~shoehorn into the theme~~ make, and it should be simple enough to pull off and polish for compo.

But hey, even if everything goes spectacularly wrong and my entry crashes and burns, at least I'll still have everyone else's awesome entries to look forward to. :hugging:

(Quick aside, if anyone has any good, relatively obscure chiptune albums to recommend, I'd love some links in the comments)
