Hello everyone, I’m going to use Flash for LD#21 (which is my first LD).
I have an actionscript 3 utilities framework that I’ve been developing for my personal projects, most likely I’m gonna use it for my LD entry too. So I made this post to declare and share it.
I call it CMG, that’s the shortened name of my start-up indie company `Cloud Mill Games`. It provides several game-specific utilities based on a number of excellent open source libraries:
These libraries are all included within CMG and all -except Tweener- are modified to integrate with it, CMG is actually a little more than just glue code.
Keep the following issues in mind:

Good luck to all LD’ers 馃榾
9 hours to go… I doubt I can finish my entry in time, I’m not giving up though, planning to enjoy it till last second
Because this is the first game creation contest I ever participate in, and I think it’s the greatest competition in the history of gamedev contests so far.. I mean we took down the competition site!! it was like friendly-fire DoS attack.. I’ve learned many good lessons, I’m definitely going to write a detailed post-mortem on what went right and what went wrong, at least for my future self who I know is folish enough to participate in many more competitions.
When I first started working on my entry, I had 4 game concepts within an hour, all of them are great ideas on paper, in the end I chose this one which I called Prison Escapor:
It may look kinda chaotic, but the idea is clear in my head… I think 馃榾
Here’s how it looks now:
The biggest problem I have is the AI, it took me most of today’s work so far to make that guard chase the player around through the tunnels until he losses him or finds another prisoner to beat down, that’s one way to get rid of guards 馃槈
So you see, finishing this today is unrealistic, but I’ll try my best to get it as close as possible to playable state.
Yay I’m no longer a Ludum Dare noob! 馃榾
I’m in…

Happy Coding!
Haven't done LD for a while now, best time for it in this entire century probably.
Going for compo, gonna use Godot and really hoping I finish something this LD with it cause I need to adopt an engine.
Pixelorama if I needed pixel art.
Wings3D for the polys.
This one is gonna be awesome, let's do it for History and Fellowship \o/ Good luck peeps! :hearts:
Introducing my entry: Core
Basic gameloop in place. First playable ready for a screenie:

Went for a physics arcade-style game, lots of work to do on presentation and expanding mechanics.
It's 12:46AM here and I'm done for the day.
I started 2 hours late but I think I made that time back by not wasting too much time on the idea.
What I did was follow this process: decide on three themes, create 2-3 concepts per theme, pick the 3 best concepts and decide which one to go for based on scope-to-playability ratio.
The themes were: dark, weird, and gamy.
The idea I went for was one of the "gamy" concepts, it's a 2D physics arcade game where you have to keep the core alive by paddling enemies and things away and letting useful things through. You control the paddle with the mouse currently (even though this is very easy to abuse by quickly moving the mouse back and forth, might switch to keyboard because of that).
This is how it currently looks like, needs a lot of work on presentation but then again, I'm perfectly happy with the programmer art :stuckouttongue:

The competing idea that I almost went for was to try to maintain a human body as long as possible, you start with a healthy human body and you only see the internal major organs. Each organ affects some stats and there are vital signs on display like heart-rate, metabolism, etc. Organs then begin to fail at random and you have to patch them up using calories/oxygen resources to keep your human alive.
Tomorrow my priorities are:
I have to work Monday morning and NZ time is not favorable, so I won't be able to work on the game for the last 10 hours or so of the competition which is sad but I'll do the best I can with the remaining day.
So yeah! play it and tell me what you think.
Now time to crash,.. happy crash though
