Ripped and tore

So since the coutdown seems to slow down day by day, I decided to already wish everybody best luck and an interesting theme for the jam. Somehow I think I want to go for something procedual... idk. Anyway, this will be great! LD48 - we're coming!!!

Good themes overall! Noteworthy impressions:
Some themes limit possible genres. Would be sad about that.
Some people like themes which were already done, it seems. I always chuckle at those "You are the villain!" ones. Keep 'em coming. One day you'll make it, again! ;)
Many themes about viruses and loneliness :'(
Thinking about a brocolli fractal game...
The GUI is your enemy. Would be hilarious!
Frog themes are on the rise.
I am not a good enough programmer to make this in one weekend.
What I'm thinking when slaughtering themes.

Either something is wrong with everyone else or something is wrong with me based on how different my vote distribution is from others. The simplest explanation is that something is wrong with me.

A simple HTML adventure game I made for practice:
It might take 10-15 minutes to win.

48 hours to complete a game for the 48th Ludum Dare. Although I'm a late and inconsistent contributor, I'm still excited to celebrate 19 years of jamming. I'll be shooting for the compo again, hope I can make it!
Best luck to everyone's themes in the slaughter! Wish I had come up with something as creative as this:

I missed the Theme Slaughter last Ludum Dare (and I almost missed the first three rounds of Theme Voting), so this was my first time doing the Theme Slaughter. I now feel sorry for my N key.

4670 themes and a whole lot of 'em were basically the same. Here's my breakdown of the hours I spent pressing the N key and occasionally the Y key:
Themes I Pressed The Y Key ForAll right, I'll admit it, I upvoted all three of my themes. 😅 When I spent 30-40 seconds thinking of themes I figured one of the main things to think of was "is this good enough that I don't downvote my own theme?".
Off the top of my head, some of the themes I upvoted were things like "48" and "Dual". Basically: short, able to be interpreted many ways, and overall better than a lot of the themes I saw.
The "Please Stop...." ThemesThe number of frog-related themes, themes that were literally just song names or movie quotes, and themes that were there millions of times was pretty large. Seriously, I felt like I kept slaughtering the same things over and over. (Namely, themes like Floating Islands and different ways to write/type You Are The Villain)
And There Were Some Pretty Funny Or Well-Timed Themes I Encountered....It's just so great when you've been saying "NO!" to hundreds of themes in a row and you get a suggestion along the lines of "Aren't You Getting Tired Of This?" or "We've Done This Already"? An example from earlier on in the slaughtering...
Also, two themes that I thought were funny (but I still slaughtered) were "Ludum Dare" and "Gamedev". I was like "yes, yes, I know that this is Ludum Dare, where people make games...".
And also this theme. Nice job, whoever suggested this.

This has become such a meme that I lowkey wish it wins one day.
I thought you're going to delete that suggestion...

Am I?

Another year, another jam, another four thousand un-salvagable theme suggestions. I really wish there was an automatic filter to just remove anything with the words 'you' 'player' 'villian', might have saved me half an hour of my life in having to click buttons to say no. Don't forget, floating islands, light and dark, and the most dreadful and overused theme in video game history - space.
I'd like to hope that the people doing the voting are better game designers than those making the suggestions, but the ratios aren't looking too good for that. Expect another year of people complaining about the theme. Again.
What was with the frogs?

You know what? Every Ludum Dare I upvote only those theme I really love. How about upvoting those I also like at least a little bit. It feels like we always slaughter anything that isn't the best. From now on, I will stop with this min-maxing mindset and will support more themes.
Will you join me?
