YESS, PLEASE???

Bruh there has GOT to be a better way than slaughtering literally 10+ of the same duplicates sometimes holy bonkers.

One of my favorite part of Ludumdare is getting to suggest and vote for themes for the jam but the Theme Slaugther Round can be daunting.
As the jam grows each time so do the theme suggestions with most of the themes being repeats or lackluster. This is probably because we feel the need to use all 3 suggestions when asked even though we might be struggling just to think of one.
I propose that future jams test reducing the theme suggestions to just one per participant which I believe would help jammers put more effort into thinking of a good suggestion rather than just putting random words to use up their available suggestions.
This should reduce the nearly 5 thousand suggestions to less than 2 thousand making it more manageable and giving more opportunities for your suggestion to be seen by others and voted on.
Would you agree? @pov
Took me around 4-5h in total.

this is late, but...

Hey guys, just want to tell that my dungeon skill game "Dungholes" is now on Presale for Nintendo Switch.
I made this game over a year ago on a Brackeys Game Jam with the Theme "Holes" - so i decided to extend the game, add a bunch of different traps and over 60 levels to it (and some other mechanics).
Currently this is a Nintendo Switch Only Title.
Check it out here : https://www.nintendo.com/games/detail/dungholes-switch/

I had so much fun doing that last year that I can't help but want to participate this year as well! I'm pretty busy with schoolwork but I think if I plan things correctly I should be able to do something this year!
Some questions are still lingering in my mind though. I don't know if I will go alone or in a team, Compo or Jam, etc etc. (I will probably go for the jam and in a team because my boyfriend wanted to do musics for what I would do uwu)
Anyways! I wish everyone here good luck for next week, I'm hyped up!
Love!

Hey al looking for 1-2 to artists to join my team we already have 2 programmers and a musician. Looking forward to working with you if interested comment down below and we can get in contact.
I'm not very good at making Music, so i'd like to work with a composer, contact me if interested
Hello, I am Aditya and I am from India. I am participating on this jam this year after a year of gamedev. I have experience in programming. I need a 3d artist to team up with me for the jam. Looking forward for positive participation with me for the jam. Thanks !!!!
We are using discord for communication. The team is complete, the only thing missing is you :)
Also, we are using unreal engine 4, if that is any matter for you.
DM me on discord for more details skoopidy#8441
So the Early Access for the Realistic Character Creation tool "MetaHuman Creator" by EpicGames is now available. I thought about maybe using for this LD, but each character is 2+ GB lol. But it's really amazing how good they look and the amount of customization that is available to you.
Even if you're not gonna use it for anything, I recommend checking it out. It's really fun to mess around and create interesting characters. You can apply for the early access here. (it's free)
Here's a character I created using it:

Hello. I found a bug on Unity which I reported to the Team yesterday. It's really annoying when your code is well done, but wasting a few hours, it doesn't work as expected (and you don't know why). You are trying to understand something, blaming yourself, but sometimes dev is not always guilty. Take a look at the synthesis :)
We're in! And instead of my previous solo jam, we're a team again. @daanvanyperen will be back coding our vague ideas into clear-cut existence, and we're welcoming a brand new member, @astronautmikedexter, to take care of all the sonic parts. As usual, I will occupy myself by putting pixels together; it will be my Lucky Number 13 in a row! Regularly contributing friends might playtest. In short:
Tradition dictates I make a simple wallpaper. I figured I'd offer the choice of cold or warm colors this time.
Both 4k and HD resolution variations available in this Imgur album. :frame_photo:

If you made it this far, thanks for reading! See you around this board and on the LD Discord!

For a long time, I've wanted to make a game, but never quite succeeded. I participated in Ludum Dare 41 and failed to make a game that people could even play, but I did learn a ton about OpenGL and 3D Graphics. Who knew that writing a 3D engine from scratch in 72 hours was too ambitious!
I'm back for Ludum Dare 48 and this time I've set a much more reasonable set of goals:
I'll be streaming my progress next week and you can find me on Twitter and Github
Wanted to get an initial blog post out. This is the first jam of any kind for me. So why not go with the best? Will be using Unity and Blender with some GarageBand if I get that far.
Definitely on the Jam side and not compo. Maybe next year :dog:
Tons of "Loop" themes being squashed as well as the "Death is not the end", "Death is the beginning".
"Death is the middle" is the only one I didn't see and that's the best idea!
Looking forward to some coding time!
idk pllllp
...as if this will affect anything. InitialPosition's pyJAMa was a big help with weeding out duplicates and generally annoying, common patterns, though the process remained extremely painful nonetheless.

I can't wait to complain about the theme a week from now, along with all of you. See ya then.
