Come play "Tunnel of Love: I'm Digging It!"

So you’ve been talking to this mole over text for a while now, and you’re ready to take the next step…the only problem is she’s on the other side of the world! Good thing evolution has optimized you for digging, because it’s time to burrow on down and meet her halfway. During your journey, collect gifts to make this first rendezvous special. You’ll want to do everything to impress this very real mole at the hottest date spot on Earth!

Tunnel of Love is a drag-and-drop maze puzzle game with a gripping romance story. Can you get both endings? https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/48/tunnel-of-love-im-digging-it title-screen.png tunnelofloveemmaps/emlvl1_final.png

Trevor only has his trusty fishing rod, a radio and the clothes on his back. Begin in the cold rainy rivers before embarking on your exhilarating journey to earn money, and to find the deepest fish.

One-Butt Alien Corridor gameplay

My game can be on the hard side unless you're already an expert in fending off alien invasions. I whipped up a high level gameplay video to give some hints on how to kick butt:

Participating in Ludum Dare with no experience was certainly interesting!

Both my co-designer and I have little to no experience working on games or with Unity. So when @miej poked me on Tuesday asking me to join him for LD48 that Friday, I didn't really take him seriously. Fast forward a week, and we had somehow managed to pull together a relatively complete (all things considered!) submission that I think worked quite well!

It certainly feels like we spent about as much time debating a concept as we spent just getting our first runnable build together (that is to say: both took quite a long time--I think our theme discussion was just under 4 hours of brainstorming, and our first runnable build with no level wasn't until nearly 24 hours later after several hours of tutorials)

Here's a screenshot of approximately where we were after almost exactly 24 hours (I pulled this from our chat at 5:54 PM on Saturday): unknown.png

It certainly felt to me like we were going to struggle getting anything together to submit, let alone be worth playing... but we certainly seem to have gotten something fun and funny to play! Animation3.gif

And of course, if you haven't played it yet, you should totally CHECK IT OUT HERE!!

HTML5 Port of D'pur & Deepir is now available on Itch.io

Thanks to those of you who have played D'pur & Deepir already and left me some ratings. All of the feedback has been very appreciated. If you haven't played yet, hopefully being able to play in the browser will make that process much easier for you!

D'pur & Deepir is two games in one! It's a split screen single player game where you control two brothers(?) going deeper both underground and into a forest. They move on their own and all you have to do is point them in the right direction one at a time. See how far you can go and share some screenshots in the comments.

This was my first Ludum Dare submission and the first time in any jam I've done all of the art and programmng myself. I'm stoked on what I was able to get done.

I made some little tweaks, is that illegal?

I was wondering how illegal is it but I just did that to my game (keeping the original version too) :

POST JAM version (1.1) : * little zoom out * some little boost on character acceleration. * visible HP.

Showing off an enemy in my game

I thought you guys would like an in-depth look at one of the enemies in my game Guaca-Mole! Taco-dillo.gif These are Taco-Dillos. They wander the burrow of the Burrito Snake, but will viciously barrel towards any opponent that gets close enough. Some might even pounce on their prey!

Good luck !

You are a powered robot with low fuel, you need to avoid and destroy obstacles in order to land safely at the end of the cavern. Good luck https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/48/falling-bot unknown.png

Do children dream of being fishes which could fly? [ardskape_devkitchen_log_1]

Hey there! We’re ARDSKAPE.

Two artists with no coding skills, but deep ambitions and insightful writing.

This was our first LD JAM. No preparations at all, just a total dive in (however, at some point the theme felt quite predicted).

We’re here to share our process and tell a bit more about the story behind our entry, the 7 DEEPS game.

Do try to get it, at least click through, be our Player.

So, it’s Day_1 of our Ludum Dare banging. I woke up early, 30 mins before the theme’s announced. Mentally I was prepared for the jam, had a go at LD40 as a narrative designer, photoshop-er and composer. But since it’s been a long time I manned Unity deep, wet and nasty, a shiver down my spine was born as if for the first time.

We are two newly designed developers with vast background in gaming and analysis, some gamedev courses and fine practice, who decided to transform their skills in art, music and writing into interactive visual experiences (mind scrying, as we call it).

There’s an active project in development, and we encourage you to watch the teaser.

However, it’s another story...

So, I researched different engines and visual programming software and almost had a go at Game Maker, when found out about Fungus (tried Playmaker before). This is when I realised, here, Unity, come once again.

The theme’s announced. I scribble some ideas. It’s just paper and Trello for now (to manage the tasks). Personally, I prefer Nuclino for writing scripts and lore, but not this time, no time for a bestseller.

A few hours later we brainstorm with my partner, Ra Storm, a talented painter, who’s getting into digital now, too. She’s quite a singer and a storyteller, also, but I’ll save it for later.

Since I spent many years working in advertising, brainstorming is fast and harsh, we’re crossing out ideas and getting loaded with visual references that may get our mind boiling into the right direction.

This is when the idea of “getting deeper” may actually become the quest of saving some lost souls through analyzing that eventually you’d have to sacrifice yourself to save them all; but only being able to come to peace with that would actually save not just them all, but yourself. Otherwise, well, different endings, loops, fish count, circumstances.

Basically, I could see the whole picture already, but we haven’t got time or enough skills, yet. So, we stuck to our best: music/sfx, visuals/art, lore. There’s plenty of lore behind our jam game. Which is why it has to be further developed (it will be).

For now, 7 DEEPS is more of a teaser/tutorial to what you might face when there’s more art, mechanics and animations (and music, of course, with main vocal theme). Still, it represents the art-house minimalistic loop of the core idea with 3 endings, all being actually the puzzle pieces for our lore.

Day_1. I wrote the music while she drew the fishes.

Unity, not yet. But thence, the night…

[it goes deeper]

Thank guys!

Whoua, when I woke up I saw that we reached the 60 votes received, and that is thanks to you so for that, I say a big thank you!!
