Ludum Dare 48 April 24–27, 2021

Streaming some ratings!

Chilling and rating some games over on Twitch.

You can submit your game to be played, but you gotta be there or I will give preference to the people who are!

Deep breath

My friends and I made a game that tries to encapsulate the realities of a schizophrenic young girl, based on my own experience with it.

We are really proud of our music and layer system, and even tho the game is harder than what we anticipated, we hope you'll make it to the end !

You can play it here : https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/48/deep-breath-3

Comment your game and I will rate it! (With a catch!)

If you comment your game you have to rate every other game commented at the time of your posting . Let's get those ratings up! (Only games with below 20 ratings please!)

My game is finally ready to play

Unfortunately my game had a few gamebreaking bugs just before submission. It took me all week to fix them. I documented all bugfixes in the changelog. I think that is not against the rules.

The balancing is still off and the point system is way too confusing even for me :P But I am really happy that I was able to finish this LD and did not give up!

I reworked and improved my game for LD46: Metree. It is about being a tree - grow down to grow up!

I would really appreciate some feedback and rating! Wish you a great day.

Linux & macOS users, could you try my game?

You can play my game, wherever you want except on mobile.

But I couldn't try macOS or Linux builds since I am a Windows user. I would be glad to see you try it!

L1-S0N - New patch up !

Panel2.gif

Hi there ! We listened to the feedback and added special cameras that guide the player between zones.

The third and final level should be added next week if all goes well.

Here is our game if you haven't tried it already : https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/48/l1-s0n

First ever game completed and waiting for reviews!

Hello friends! I am so excited to finish my first ever game jam, and first ever completed unity game! I spent a busy week catching up on the works I left last week, and boom! Its weekend finally! I will try to play a lot of the games you make! Please be free to review mine and give me any thoughts and reflections so that I can learn from them! See yall in the next jam! https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/48/tiny-drop title.png Untitled.png

100 - Bugfixes

Hello fellow jammers, a few bugs were encountered during some playthroughs of 100 and I finally got the time to look into them, and fix some of them. Here's the list:

  • Tentatively fixed an issue that caused the radial menu to not open
  • Fixed an issue that caused the welcome screen to not display the proper game name
  • Fixed an issue that caused the new material window to show up every time the quantity increased from 0 to 1
  • Fixed an issue that caused a sound effect to not play at the end of the game
  • Fixed an issue that caused a sound effect to play all the time instead of contextually
  • Fixed an issue that caused certain sound effects to play at the end of the game
  • Fixed an issue that caused the upgrade costs to multiply when accessing the menu in a specific way
  • Fixed an issue that caused the dialogue volume to be lower than intended
  • Fixed an issue that caused the background music to play the wrong layer at the end of the game
  • Fixed an issue that caused the food tile to not properly animate

Blackout Post-Jam

Me and my team have gotten such nice feedback and response from people playing our game that we've decided to explore the possibility of making a post-jam version of our game Blackout.

Clearly this excites me, so spent some time making a hotted up version of one of the levels from the original game. Have a look below and find out what to expect of the supposed post-jam version!

Will you manage to escape the Employees ?

An office boss forgot to put coffee back into the coffee machine. Impossible for its furious employees to work in these conditions. There is only one solution for the boss: to run away.

Promise the next time we will not forget the coffee.

Into the Forrest: Now with less bugs.

Screen Shot 2021-05-01 at 5.13.07 PM.png

Thanks to the great feedback I've received I've managed to squash a few of the bugs in Into the Forrest.

  • There were some pesky bugs that caused buildings to disappear as you were trying to place them.
  • There was also the issue of some buildings refusing to not be built.
  • It turns out ranged units and melee units did not have different attack radiuses after all.
  • Unit health bars were either difficult to see or did not work (fixed now).
  • It is now possible to tell the difference between enemy unit's and yours by color.
  • Units don't stack up during battle quite as badly as before. It still happens when there is a terrain bottleneck.
  • Some people felt the colors were too contrasty, and I agree, so everything is a little darker. Hopefully that makes it a bit easier on the eyes.

Making an RTS-like game was definitely a challenge. This was my first real attempt to make anything in the RTS genre. It's still not perfect, but I think it's better than before. You can view the changelog on the game page or play and rate it here.

The one thing I have noticed (as usual)

As usual, the one thing I have noticed with download titles is the complete lack of a quit button. Please, for goodness' sake add one next time if you didn't. It takes maybe a minute of coding, but makes all the difference. No one should have to "ALT+TAB" or "ALT+F4" to close a game in full-screen mode, especially when there is no way to switch to a windowed view. If you can bother to put in a "PLAY" button or a "RESTART" button, you can put in a "QUIT" button.

Alright, rant over. Thank you for your time.

Please play my game.

Please play my game. I need the feedback. It is a platformer where you have to go DEEPER AND DEEPER Into the cavern. https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/48/the-caverns-of-madness Promo101.png

WebGL version of Highly Successful Research Submarine available

inwebgl.png We managed to get the key element of the game, the in-game camera, to properly work in WebGL so the game now works in your browser.

If you passed us by when we were a windows only download, now's a good time to take another look, for those who have played, thanks so much for the detailed feedback and suggestions, we look forward to folding them into a post-jam version.

Help! I done goofed up. (game wasnt unfinished :/)

i just realised i submitted my game on time for the compo but must have missed the compo/jam selection thing. is there any way to fix this? or is it too late? is there someone i can contact directly?

A few more reviews needed! Try my browser-and-mobile platformer with a twist!

I could use just a few more reviews of my more-than-meets-the-eye platformer, "The Greatest Thing." It's quick, maybe 5-10 minutes to see through to the end. Help a guy out?

Again, it's a quick browser game, so no downloads needed. It even works on mobile! Although the controls are a bit tougher without buttons.
