We already have some great feedback for our game and we mostly know, what we did well and were we need to make changes to make the game more fun to play and keep people wanting to replay it. Can't express how much we appreciate all that. Both the streamers and text reviews are so helpful! Big thanks to everyone who played the game.

Personally I never realized how much fun it is to watch someone on stream playing your game. It is first LD for me and I'm loving the experience!

Good luck !!

You are a powered robot with low fuel, you need to avoid and destroy obstacles in order to land safely at the end of the cavern. Good luck https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/48/falling-bot esrg.png

Just Hit 20 Ratings!

banner.png

Thank you to everyone who played and rated my game. I'm going to keep rating others' games. If you haven't played my game yet, you should go and play it! It's a cool game about deep cleaning little Billy's computer. I didn't spend too much time on the music and sounds but I tried to make the game really FUN! I hope you enjoy.

Show me your C games!

I would like to see some C games to play, and preferably open-source, so that I can check the code :P

Also, remember to check mine too :P https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/48/cat-sweeper

Freg, Fregg and Freggy - Update!

Hey Freggy Friends!

FregRenderEdit.png

Freg, Fregg and Freggy are currently celebrating! Their careless devs finally found a garbage collection issue that was likely causing the most common crash! Hurrah!

Thanks to everyone who's played and commented already on the game, especially those who stayed positive despite the crashes. If you do choose to play our game - please let us know what you think and especially if you get Fatal Error crashes mid game.

Existing bugs: - Game occasionally doesn't take you back to main menu if all three frogs die: Status: Still present 🐛 - Quitting via options menu causing crash: Can happen pretty consistently. Status: Still present 🐛

Boring in the Deep Fixes!

Guys, thank you so much for your good words and feedback. We went back and cleared up some issues as you've shown us.

Specifically, we fixed some bugs with overly big colliders, physics optimization and broken transitions. SFX and Music are now clearer. It should also be a tiny bit easier to finish the game now.

Check out the game!
You can also find the original LD48 submission in the itch.io page.

It was an amazing 3-day journey, and we are glad to have partaken in it. Thanks again for your precious feedback!

Comments not working?

Is anyone else having problems viewing comments on games? I can see them fine when I'm not logged in, but when I sign in all comments disappear and I can't post my own comments either.

How Does Smart Score Work?

Does anyone know how smart score is actually calculated? I get the basic gist; playing and rating other games increases your smart score, and your smart score decreases the more it's played. Whenever I try to rate other games, however, my smart score will only increase by a miniscule amount. Does anyone know why? Is there another variable I didn't know about?

I'm Back, Mwahahahahahah!

Hello everyone, we love your comments, lots of ideas and possibilities.

Would you like to test our game, and leave your opinion?

How to play Ventil of View

In this gif, I'll show you how valves work. Easy to understand but difficult to use. We only see one wall of the room at a time. We need to rotate the valve to rotate the perspective of the camera. This way we can see another wall. There may be some doors to walk to the next room. Or may be there will be something terrible... ventilemof/emview.gif https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/48/ventil-of-view

LEVEL 4 FIXED

After so many days I've finally fixed the infamous level 4. In what way infamous? No one has yet solved it correctly, because the AI wasn't ready for it. It's one of the most fun levels, but it just didn't work. So this is how I've solved it.

Changing layout

I've put a big pillar in front of the player, so now you HAVE to avoid the enemies from the back. Also I've made everything longer to give some breathing space to the player. Screenshot 2021-05-03 191915.png

Better AI

In the jam version AI was simply looking for player and if he was in range it would just start chasing him until it hit him, or a wall (in that case it would "discharge"). Now, the fragment script tries following the player, but if it knows it will hit a wall, it starts following a specified path, that I can set in each level separately. It would seem like it's too hard, but placing just one or 2 points in correct places makes it subtle and forces the player to actually think how to dodge them and not just to exploit them. In case of the infamous level 4 they would just be confused to what happened. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DQEre3WIELI

New dev tools

Since day 1 we had noclip, which has proven over and over to be very useful for testing. So now I've finally added AI debug information and AI level command. By setting AI level to 0, it just doesn't do anything and 1 will just blindly follow you. Debug information shows it's current target, path index and more. Screenshot 2021-05-03 192457.png

A Video Post-Mortem, One Week Out

Howdy everyone!

I'm not usually one to post on YouTube but I'm sort of "between" websites right now so I figured a video might be a fun way to spread the word about Line. I've always enjoyed watching everyone else's devlogs, so I'm excited to announce that I made one of my own!

https://youtu.be/EY5W33V7eHE

If you haven't tried Line, I encourage you to give it a go! Feel free to leave a comment on this post and I'll check your games out, too.

Happy one-week anniversary to all of our games!

My stress simulator game need some ratings from you!!

Autumn Hike - New Dithering Effect

I created a dithering shader for that zooming effect in our game Autumn Hike.

Before (with transparancy/grayscale): enter_1.gif

After (with dithering, only black and white pixels): enter_dither.gif

What do you think?
Soon I'll upload a post about how I implemented this.

The ART of HELL deep is your love?

Art/concept in game

Hello guys! I was/am responsible for the pixel art of the game Hell Deep Is Your Love?. It was my first try in this retro/arcade style, and I confess that it was quite challenging. We had NOTHING done, we decided to do everything from scratch, which for 72h was very difficult and tiring (at least for me). At the beginning of the project we did not intend to make the game in an arcade/retro style, the idea evolved with the creation of the arts, which I particularly liked a lot. For me it is very difficult to talk about my art style, whenever I am creating I look for many references in Blasphemous & Chasm. I like to mix references and create my own style. I like to think outside the box and do more differentiated things, and NOTHING simple (this sometimes gets in the way of simple projects, or the ATTEMPTS of them). The most difficult part for me was the tilemap, I was already exhausted from all the work, and when Im tired I always remain unproductive. I did about 10 versions before the official, but I didn't like any of them and deleted. That day I gave up on drawing, but the next day, on the FIRST attempt it worked. Also the fact of use a palette with 6 colors was a new thing that I always wanted to try, and it was my first time trying, is a bit challenger, but at the same time looks more simple to do shadows and lights. So remember if you’re tired, don’t force your creativity. We should always have time for rest!

Screen Shot 2021-05-03 at 15.23.01.png

Character

Baphe or "The Goat" which plenty of you guys called. I knew the colors of the character should stand out in all the colors of the two palettes we chose, otherwise it would blend with all the colors and we didn't want that. So I kind of chose neutral colors for him, and with that gain more prominence and attention.

Screen Shot 2021-05-03 at 15.56.01.png

Enemies

The Imps were the first enemies we thought about for the game, each one of them with a kind of power. The most difficult part for me it was to not blend the enemies/character with the background (which happened). So for the next updates I will work more on that, keeping the enemies a little more lighter and visible (thank you all for the feedbacks about that).

TEXTO LD.jpg

Hey guys this was a little bit of the art of Hell Deep Is Your Love?, and Im pretty happy with the results. I want to thank you all for the AMAZING feedbacks about the art. I can guarantee that it wasn't easy to bring this concept for the game, but it was a challenge that Im proud a lot of made it. Im very happy with my first JAM and Im looking forward for the next! Any doubts about the game art you can ask me! You can also check our twitter, I'll be posting sketches and ideias for the nexts updates.
