My theme made it
Can't really believe that my theme suggestion made it! And now? I have a creative blockade. My former gameplay idea sucks and I have no new plan. 😭

After a night with just the right amount of sleep deprivation we got our first sketch done. A game about playing a tree root trying to provide for its tree. Gameplay-wise we're thinking about some kind of snake meets autoscroller type of game. Let the coding begin

Swimming mechanic for VR complete
Making a sort of underwater roguelike game for VR. Now I gotta do the guns :smirk_cat:
4 hours in and I have just gone down the hole of randomly generating and colouring pixel art faces, got to add some more variation still but happy with the overall results, still not sure what this game will be yet haha
Very happy with my progress so far with this idea! Getting the basics set up hasn't taken me anywhere near as long as I thought it would!

Have you ever watched a short animation from Disney?

I am consider a simulator game based on this video =)
I prefer a underground apartment style Initially there is a lobby Then you can invite different animals into the house But if you don’t have enough space, you have to open more holes More resources are needed to open more animals to live in

The bad guy moves! My goal is for him to hide in closets and use the map shortcuts for trapping you.
just got a lot of the boilerplate and engine code going, but as far as the gameplay is concerned, executing it seem... interesting. I need sleep
Already 4 hours and some idea already kickin in my note. None of them feels "Great" right now.
This is the magic knife attack for my group's game, it's not great but I thought it turned out pretty well. Good luck and have fun to all you awesome people. Get some sleep if you can afford it.

As I thought might happen, 4 hours in, I have and Idea, and I am still fighting with what I want to build it in. I have Unity, Godot, Raylib-go, Love, Pixel, Engo, and Heaps (haxe) all installed and setup, and I am still no closer to making any games. Looks like I might just do the Jam with Compo rules. There should be a Compo Jam, which is Compo rules with Jam timeline, for those newer to this, but want to follow the stricter rules. Probably going to spend the first day just picking tools and languages.
Where do I submit my game once it's done? :confounded:
This is my first time making a game with Godot, excluding tutorials. I didn't know too much coming in, and I was a little worried I wouldn't be able to finish a game for the jam. I've been making a lot more progress than expected, and I'm feeling a lot more confident now. I've got a basic platformer up and running. Got a good ways to go, but I'm pretty happy about where I'm at so far. As for making games in Godot, I think this will be a great learning experience! I can't wait to do more with it in the future!

I'm making a game where you are a wizard who is going deeper into the sewers beneath some fantasy city for some reason. It gets really dark the deeper you go, but luckily you know some magic to make some flames.
This is really just an excuse to mess around with the new Light2D engine in Phaser...

...well, at least a few hours, rather. :stuckouttongue:
We've got a nice start of an environment and some initial player movement, so I'd say things are coming along nicely.

Over the past year I've enjoyed the challenge of making games using unconventional means. I've recreated games using Discord, Minecraft, and Twitter all for the fun of the challenge. For this Ludum Dare I though I'd continue this challenge and try and make an original game using an unconventional game engine. So what is this unconventional game engine I'm using you ask? Well I've decided to make my game using only HTML and CSS.... oh boy. At any rate my first stream is done and here is my progress so far! Core game idea is complete, just have to keep adding more levels and expanding on the idea! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RhJseEcdoO0
Experimenting with a roguelike, got some basic dungeon generation finished so far.
Ok I made some little room templates

I can print these, draw on them and then scan it back in and color things in.

This is just a quick test, hopefully will be a little more polished than this:

Drops right into LDTK which is pretty great.
Now I need to write a map loader for this. Hopefully I can finish that tonight.
My game idea is pretty half-formed right now but I think I like where it's going. The idea is that you are going deeper into your own dreams. You can go to sleep and then interact in the your dream world, and if you find a nice place to snooze in the dream world, well, you go even deeper into your dreams. What will you find there? Can you learn the language of dreams?
