Making progress with the team. The game will be about drilling holes to fit all the coffins !! Play testing time ...
Finished up most of the gameloop last night and jumped into replacing placeholder arts. Got into a strong "you vs the guy she tells you not to worry about" moment.

We're working on the environment ...

... with a black hole :cloud_tornado:

Now you can take fall-damage and use shovels to dig through areas that hinder you from progressing. But keep in mind that all tools are a finite resource. I need to work some more on the particle effects as they have some issues right now, and I want more of them. But progress is progressing!
Haven't had much time this weekend but still wanted to share my progress :)

My game will be about space, minigames and tension and you will be able to steer a landing vessel.
Solo Angel you control an Angel who is descending into the depths of hell and must stop as many demons as possible from rising to the surface. The game is being made with the Pygame library, and some visual assets created with the help of AI, yes I am editing the images to suit the game. Anyway that's it haha, I accept feedback, and I'm creating the game alone without much expectation of being able to finish it for a long time haha.

I am afraid I've been experimenting with this tree for far too long. Still it's extremely satisfactory!

Long story short: most likely going for Extra, since I am kind of the exploratory guy who wants to take your time and basically experiment with stuff. This time took a different approach - paper first (flows, concept, etc.), mockups second till it feels good (well, it seems I've taken it quite far).
Haven't even started coding. So what you're seeing has been done via Paint.NET which is infinitely tinkerable.
Point being: if you can't finish it on time anyway to a point you are liking it (without destroying yourself), take your time and have fun (why not Extra?).
Why? I wanted to create a choice-based game where you get asked a number of questions about [your?] life (the GIF doesn't show the questions) and you choose either Red, Green or Grey cube as an answer - but you have up to 3 choices for each color. This forms a story that you get at the end. However I overscoped so much (based on my paper notes) that I am now enjoying actually the visual tinkering. But why not : )) just let's have fun !
I now wonder if I need to change the concept for the actual game... :D

I may not end up finishing... we'll see!

Dont know why, but I am not stressed at all during this game jam.

Now:

Making progress slowly but Unity online docs severs are down D: Got pathfinding to work though 👍
Adding puzzles into my game. Do you like more a hardcore ones or easy to solve? :)

Some information in the folders can be used for hints...

...or maybe not, I'm not sure XD

It's a simple theme, he said. I'll get the gameplay loop out of the way quickly and spend most of the time polishing, he thought.

Start polishing my game. Maybe some suggestions?

Minesweeper the RPG. This is the second time I'm making a Minesweeper variant for LD. Hope I can still finish for Compo, already made almost all assets and sounds and even a bgm after all.
The alarm lamps, which make the dreamer sleep less soundly, are ready :rotating_light:.
They can be setup to switch off with a button or embedded onto enemies.

Unfortunately I have to go to the office tomorrow so I don't know if I'll be able to finish it all, since I have a lot of level design work to do, not to mention the music and the menu.
tooday I make the fun https://twitch.tv/alexrosegames
deep into developments! any idea's to what to add? currently its more like endless expolration

Meta tiles (16x16) used in the map creation to save on memory:

Actual tiledata (8x8) we load into background tile video memory (still some space for more):

Let's see if I can finish the content in time :scream_cat: Leveldesign is really hard due to the design of my game :map:

This is what I got so far:

this guys gunna jump he wears armor to protect himself form the gun

Sounds and basic mechanics are in and I'm also able to chain the levels seamlessly.
its got like early 2000 alian jet pack vibes, and shoots lazers, programmers haven't programed it to explored on death, not a very good bomb if you ask me.
Gameplay is starting to form :))
It was pretty difficult to figure out what kind of music would go with my puzzle game... Welp, here goes nothing.

IT my first jam and the theme of depth immediately reminded me of Cthulhu.
My idea: if you drop him enough treats, he won't kill you, and maybe he'll reward you, but if you keep him waiting, he'll get angry
And yesterday maded grab mechanics for food. But you can't take every meal, some of the tastiest ones will be too much for you until you level up.

Today i half-maded a cthulhu temple and i'll embellish it if I have time

with just under 12 hours left, I at least have the working player character/camera system. objects can be tagged as targets & pictures can be taken up to a limit. picture data is saved alongside a "score" based on how clear your photo is (is your depth of focus accurate?)
time for short nap and finish with levels + making the score matter. i think the hardest part now is making things worth taking photos of.
oh yeah and the pictures you take are saved locally as well.

You can now fight sharks, piranhas, and one-eyed ghouls as you traverse the depths of the sea

Please follow the safety rules while operating this device.
We don't have the rules written down anywhere, you may come up with your own. We got other stuff to do.

I had to finish early so I managed to upload the game to itch.io quite early ! :sunny:
INNER DEPTHS IDLE is an idle / clicker / incremental game that you can play in your browser, collect Chi and Karma to explore the depths of your own self, reincarnate to start over with new bonuses and climb up the ladder of spiritual awakening. :bamboo:
Good luck everyone and see you soon for the ratings  :fingers_crossed: !

I ran out of effort and called back into the office before completing this. It's playable and fun :) but there's no end goal and the plundering of pirate treasure is not done at all.

Hey guys, progress has been going slow for a while. After considering the fact I have a lot more important home work to be done in University, I have decided to change from Jam to Extra, I hope to finish next Sunday so that you guys can play!
There is nothing more frustrating than a bug you cannot fix. In the last 36 hours we've fixed unfixable and failed miserably multiple times. And there is nothing that can stop us. We've been making a steady progress for the whole time (even tho this is my first 3D game dev experience so the team is practically carrying me through it). Game jams are always fun and especially with friends. Just keep going.

I quickly made an editor to create a first level. Hope I'll have time for a second one. But first, I need to add some feedbacks to the player when something happens.

We are almost finished with our game. Since we can't invest much more time, we had to cross a few things off our wish list and concentrate on the essentials: *no enemies (time is now your only enemy, let's see how that works!) *only two types of prey fish *we will probably leave the sound effects as they are now: nothing lasts longer than the temporary!
Now we still have to write an intro page and make screenshots and gifs, for the voting round later.
This is our home page. What do you think?

Level transition is working and feels quite seamless now. If you manage to hit the pit while traversing to next level, you get some bonus ignored fall-damage. I have also made sound and music and even though there's still some finetuning (har, har) to do, it's starting to feel nice.
I always wanted to make a retro water shader (like in Zelda: OoA) - I think it fits the game, WDYT?

Relaxing after all the mining and farming is important. Just hide from the ancient horrors and soundproof your party cave first.
because our Mc has a crippling nikky addiction, its what makes him strong, very cool

made a cool looking gun to make Mc look more cool and epic, now a weapon to fit the cool helmet look
Realised I haven't actually posted yet since other team members gave out updates but thought might as well. Right now we've made pretty significant progress since starting and have some enemies and attack developed, there still needs to be some work on improving the feel and speed of the player and the flow of gameplay. But besides from all that, I'm happy what me and everyone's achieved so far.

I'm back. I went swimming with Mao Laoshi and drove around the neighborhood, enjoying the breeze and singing in the car(It reminds me of the bragging I did back in college. Hahaha!). Now I'm back and will continue to finish the remaining part.

Phew. Had a rough week and a rough weekend, but I managed to squeeze in some time to make a compo entry! The game is very light on assets since I had very limited time this time, but I hope you still enjoy it. :fingers_crossed:
Can't wait to play your games!
https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/57/assessment-57
Aquatic animal sim almost working on the mechanics front, with ice-sliding / swimming / breath-holding and fish-eating.
Forgot mic was on, turn off sound unless throat-clearing and humming is your thing.
Ah just over a day left to go on the jam, time to get on the making it look nice
As always, I saw too big, but at least I'm near to having a small gameplay loop! I hope to be able to implement it and start working on sound / fx and improve graphics

Just over 9 hours left. Time to start ~~cleaning~~ polishing

I'm semi-happy with my progress so far. Got the first tutorial level layout done, some of the atmosphere (but polish is for tomorrow).
The basics are in, now I just need to work on the puzzles and more levels. (if you want to walk around: try the bare bones )
Layed back Jam for me this time. Much better than stressing about originality, creating something technically new for me and doing all the art in a compo.
Jam, art assets and good focus-work/downtime planning making this already a successful experience!

a completely original and legally distinct soda... bearing no resemblance to any real world products

my progress:

main menu
It looks a bit derpy, but I'm trying to keep my game comedic so that shouldn't be a problem! Engine.gif
Keeping the game comedic, so it looks a bit derpy :p

Inspired on the classic and grandfather of minecraft: InfiniteMiner

I feel the pressure of wanting to do so many things but having so little time, theses might end up in a cutscene like our previous game, this will be a good challenge if i can pull through

Here it is
This time, the last-minute deployment issues happened 9 hours before the deadline... happy coder noises.
Man... telling stories is hard.
I really hope you enjoy it... especially since I couldn’t resist making yet another anti-game.
This is the intro screen.... I will not have the time to polish GUI 😅. I MUST begin the level design...

Are you guys all making your own?
Spent way too long on getting some basic UI and tweening in today (not my specialty) as well as getting enemies attacking.

Not sure if the UI top/bottom bars are too chunky but kind of like how it frames the games.
Tomorrow will be adding the rest of the core loop and then figuring out something for the player to do while their towers are killing things

I wanted to allow planet exploration, but I might not have the time... So for now, here's a first version playable on Windows (Linux and Mac coming soon). Simply unzip it into a new folder and run the executable (unsigned). Completely handcrafted with Delphi. No sounds yet, and even less music...

My entry for this LD session is available... after the song please :smile_cat:

Well, this has been pretty much a disaster. I started over a few times, my new tablet stopped working, and I never really had an idea or direction that I was happy with.

I did manage to get a boat driving around though.
I've got one last idea this morning that might work, going to see if I can get that working in the time I have left.

This is the title of my game. Wanna make it to the compo, because my game SO SMALL xDDD Its something like game adaption of classic science fiction novel "Journey to the Center of the Earth" by Jules Verne. Oh I like it so much!

Please comment on this. Do you have an interest or need for a special engine for rapid development? It can be used for prototyping too. Let's say it will work directly in the browser. Maybe it will be a browser extension. Simple, lightweight, fast, free and open source. WebGPU as the main graphics API, native support for Blender and RenderDoc. Various options are possible.
My interest is in creating an educational tool with powerful technical capabilities. Your help for me is only your feedback. The demo version will be ready in the summer. The stable version will be released in the fall.
Its missing a leaderboard, tutorial and all the stuff around, so I will not submit it just yet. But the gameplay is ready, give it a go!

Remade the player to be more readable and expressive, fixed the moving platform and started blocking out the boundaries.

Here is start round animation for my game HellDigger Idle

Hey there ! I decided last minute to make an entry after all, since due to family-events going on I had way less time, so I decided to make it an exercise in scope control. I had so much fun ! I love this little compo entry !

Music teaser for our game in progress ✨
added juicy spawn effect and more coins variety

For ld57

I made good progress today, but I still need to implement some important logic for the core mechanics. Hopefully, I’ll have enough time to record sounds and create some music. At least the game’s looking better now ;)

And even without loads of cut content actually (although the project is simple enough)
That being said, I'm so sorry in advance for what you will see as a result

Spent way too long making sure red platforms don’t trap the player in no-win scenarios. Feeling exhausted
😀
ok the games looking good, but right now there is no win condition, the players are supposed to gather some items, and then what?
well it's time for a portal to go deeper..... now i just gotta make it go and do the thing
