Ludum Dare 51 September 30–October 3, 2022

First ever Compo is done!

Good luck to everyone still pushing through the final hours! Managed to properly narrow the scope early on this time since lessons were learned from my last jam. But still very tough!

I am really happy to announce that I uploaded my game "Betrayed". It it my first time on Compo, and it was quite challenging.lowqualitylogo.jpg I hope you enjoy it!

Lizard Chef!

Aaand once again, I'm done!

No time at all but I had to make something. Warning, this game can be very annoying (especially during playtesting, you have no idea...) Screenshot (123).png https://ldj.am/$305737

I hope I can finish tomorrow

Still lots of stuff to do, but I'm quite content with what I have so far. Get a new boon/drawback every 10 seconds.

Wooly wood water

So, you have firefighters. And firetrucks. And EVERY TEN SECONDS there is FIRE. The fire expands but in the middle of a wool forest (like grassy cute wool) you may find an ally : WATER.

Important notice

Hello,

I just wanted to share you my teammate's, Moon.Eventide, concept art for one of our screens. I think it looks pretty cool while it also shows some of our game's progress without spoiling what's going on!

Thank you for looking at this very important notice.

Finally completed a game

It has been few (I mean multiple) Ludum Dares. Last one where I completed a game was before this site got upgraded to current look. But this time I was ready and took little bit off from work to join this Compo.

With this combo I did finish my first Unreal game as I have been using Unity for almost all attempts (successful or not) of ludum dare. This time I did my home work and had all tools ready. Also I did small practice with themes where I wrote two things for each theme. When theme was announced I was ready to expand on those ideas (I did not use what I had for Every 10 seconds theme).

Tools used

  • Blender
  • jsfxr
  • aseprite
  • Unreal
  • LMMS (I did not finish any music.... maybe next time)
  • GIMP
  • Obsidian.md (for notes and planning)

Mac build for my game, because it can't run on Safari

Gameem1920x1080/em3.png I've just uploaded a Mac (Intel + Silicon) build for my LD51 game, Ten Seconds A Demon. I noticed that Safari couldn't open the WebGL build of the game (I used Unity, by the way). Firefox can open the game on Mac, but I thought many people in Mac only used Safari, so that was an important consideration.

It's kind of disappointing for me, because I think a point of WebGL is being able to not care about platform differences.

As for the game,

In 1988, 13 scientists accidentally summoned a demon in the Arctic. You are that demon. You possess a random scientist every 10 seconds. Unleash your wrath upon the mankind!

The Summon Day 2 Update

CSV reading for the scripting, swiping UI, and 60% of art done. The most depressing reigns-like is set to be completed in time.

Game nearing completion

We've been working on our game for a good while now. We've added a few more types of tiles and have given many visual indicators to the player. All that we have left is sound, main menu and high score system. Sadly these three things I have never done in Godot before so they're going to be a rough experience implementing. Particularly scene transitioning, saving data and playing sound. unknown[1].png

Game is Live

Play it here!: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/51/$303685

Managed to sneak in some bugfixes and tweaks to dialog and now the game is done . Never again will I try to write 100ish lines of cheesy Hollywood dialog during a jam, my brain is only talking in terrible nonsensical one-lines. Day 3 .gif.gif

Progress?

I hope we can ship at least a working demo tomorrow

A lot of stuff is still missing, we've already cut off features but we don't know if this game will have a real goal other than, maybe, "keep the pipes connected for as much as you can while stuff keeps flowing from top to bottom".

This last day will be really fundamental, wish you all a happy coding night :whale:

Working retail is hell...

hell.JPG Getting closer to completion... First time working with a partner, and it's been a blast. Genuinely surprised how much you can get done in teams :)
