Ludum Dare 54 September 29–October 2, 2023

Thank you everyone!

I am completely blown away at all the positive feedback for our game shot in the dark! This was my second time really following through and finishing a game where I felt like I made genuine contributions to the concept and programming. This time around my Team and I decided to use Godot, which we all had some minor experience here and there. What a wonderful experience it was! I hope everyone else had an exciting jam and was able to create something cool! There are so many really well made entries despite the somewhat repetitive theme. I think there are loads of games that did a fantastic job with the theme. I'm excited to see what happens the next time we jam, and I hope to see some familiar faces next time! Have fun and make sure to keep voting in this last day! Every last bit of feedback counts :)

Unfortunately Godot 4.0 doesn't have webGL support at the moment but we have both Windows and Linux builds ready to go! We read every comment, and try to play and rate those who comment on our game!

Just One More Vote

Try Shadow's Edge if you haven't and help me with my LAST VOTE! Also love to try yours if you leave a comment!

Fixed all problems mentioned in comments. Please give it a try :)

You are an astronaut lost in space, armed with a mysterious orb that can both illuminate the darkness and manipulate gravity.

Stepping into the darkness will lead to immediate loss of life. Stay within the light and find your way out.

Haven't played Six Seats Left yet? You're missing out:

Perfect. This has been my favorite LD game I’ve played, ever, (and I’ve been doing this for a while.) ~@untitled-studios

How its possible that this game make me think more about my life than any triple A i’ve played ever? ~Gamekiller4ever

It’s really a hard task to look at all these people objectively instead of how upset or desperate they are. Very deep indeed. ~JimVan

Check out Six Seats Left here, and I will do my best to play and rate your game in return!

Only a few ratings needed!

If you're a fan of old school survival horror games, we'd love to hear your thoughts on No Room in Hell. But, even if you're not, we could use the votes! ^-^'

Last day at work

Everyone, with worry in their voice, said "Aw man, tomorrow's the last day to rate games for the jam!"

But then The Guy, confident as usual, immediately replied "don't worry, everything will be fine because Payment Comes on Friday!" Boom, epic title drop :writing_hand: :fire:

AHEM, either way...

You should get to work right now because there's only 24 hours left! tell us what ending you got and leave a rating!

Sushi Puzzle Party - My Last-Minute Submission

After bailing out of the jam and switching gears towards the extra path, I'll admit, I was feeling a bit too lazy to push on. Yet, it's funny how the final sprint often turns out to be the most rewarding and the most tired as well!

You can play the game here

Any feedback is welcome!

I'll be playing some games and providing ratings until the last hour. Feel free to drop a link if you'd like me to check out your submission.

Moving in

Try to reach your room in your messy new apartment!

Quite short puzzle game, it was my first time using godot so I didn't get to add as much as I wanted but I'm still fairly happy with the result!

There is still time to Escape the Slime Lab!

Hey! If you haven't already, you can try my entry for this jam here: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/54/escape-the-slime-lab

tutorial0.gif

It's a tiny puzzle platformer game where you play as a slime trying to escape a lab. But the slime is not very agile on its own, so you have to place special Lab Shapes™ that the slime can use to move around and wall-jump off. The only problem: Lab Shapes™ can only be built around the slime, limiting its freedom! Figure a way to use your Lab Shapes™ to get out of each level and help the slime escape the lab!

New concept art for Post Jam

https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/54/the-box-1

Some of you have already reviewed this html5 game and noticed how short it is (two levels, no more than 2 minutes, some said 40 seconds) almost like just a sample. It's all hand-drawn, although we still only have sketches. Here I drew today what the final look should look like, which unfortunately I didn't have time to draw for the jam.

rascunho_Novo2.png

You had already seen the old drafts before, the first drafts that led to the demos that we currently have playable:

Rascunhos.png

In the new drawing, I changed the geometric view of the walls, so that in the update it will be possible to see both sides of the wall. I believe it will be useful to see the two tube entrances, the left entrance and the right entrance, if you notice currently in the game in the photo below on the left we can only see the entrance on the left side of the wall, while the right tube entrance is subtended . In the next update of the implementation (photo on the right side) of this new draft graphic, it will be much clearer where it needs to go, although there hasn't been a problem about it because nobody really complained about it, it's just that I think that visually it's an evolution .

Some Notes:

This insect is not a fly. That's why it falls quickly like it's very heavy, because it is. It is as big as a large dog, perhaps a large bulldog or larger. A disgusting flying ball of meat. It's hard to describe this, because it's a biological creation, the kind of thing that shouldn't be out there. They do genetic experiments and perform all kinds of tests. They say they have a futuristic military industrial complex with dozens of meticulously designed booby-trapped rooms to test and train these biological experiments. Some people died there, so they say. The name of the place is Mechanizyn, although no one knows where it is, they say it's underground, you'll find out... Although it's just a jam prototype at the moment, the first photo shows what the update will look like. But for now I don't have all this mechanics implemented, but I would like you to take a look at this little demo as it is and comment on what you think on the page, Below is the game link:

Check if you need last minute ratings!

Hey If you're new to this jam check your rating count, you need to rate 20 games and get your game rated by 20 other people by the deadline tomorrow, so that you can see your final score! Your rating count may be lower than you expect because if you don't rate in all the categories it only counts as a partial rating. Screenshot 2023-10-19 232428.png

If you don't get to 20 you'll just be scored "didn't get enough ratings"! We can't have that! Your game deserves to be rated! Comment on the post with a link to your rating page so that other people can play and rate your game. Go rate the games of other people who have commented! Do it! BEFORE TIME RUNS OUT! You can also find games that need more ratings if you sort by DANGER!

Submitted something!

I've have now publicly published all of the code I managed to get done for this jam on GitHub. I do really want to finish out this project as it's fun to work on and I don't think it needs to be huge to be finished, but I've just been crazy busy the past few weeks (and, in fact, right now -- I have a bunch of stuff I should be doing instead of writing this).

But, it does count as far as I'm concerned. My game, "Daydreams," was (or is?) about busywork and pursuing creativity and stuff like that anyways, so I feel like this little weird way I've published it is perfectly appropriate for now.

I am also considering, at some point in the next few weeks (if I ever get any free time), attempting to stream (?) some of the Ludum Dare games that I would have played had I actually submitted on time. Still no idea if I'll actually do that given I don't know if I have the right environment for it, but hey, while I'm here dreaming I might as well throw out the idea. (And if it works out it could be fun for my next real Ludum Dare participation as well).

In any case I hope to see you all next time!

Angry Octopus Brother!!!

We hope everyone can fully experience our game, and there’s a carefully crafted ending video after the game ends. In order to allow those who are unable to play the game or have difficulty completing it to also see our ending video, we will list it separately here:

Help rate in-frame!

Go help this one get a few more ratings!

https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/54/in-frame

This one was pretty cool. One of my favorites so far! It needs a few additional ratings to qualify for getting rated. No jump scares, just a great little puzzler about taking photos and exploring an old, abandoned factory. Go check it out and help them get to the 20 ratings!
