Ludum Dare 53 April 29–May 2, 2023

Need a few more ratings for our game :)

screen_2.PNG

We made a game using our engine and we're close to the 20 ratings mark with a day left. Care to play our game? Share your game as well and I'll play, comment and leave a rating. Currently trying to get through as many games before the day's end :)

DARKLINE

Haven't actually made my mandatory blog post this time

DARKLINE, what if you're delivering mementos of your old life in silent hill? That was the concept, how well it turned out you can check out right here https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/53/darkline

And as usual, I've made a timelapse of me making the game with some phonk music in the background

:v:

How much milk and eggs can you deliver?

Control multiple delivery trucks and try to deliver as much milk and eggs as possible to hungry customers. Can you reach the top of the score board before the time runs out? :)

Only need 2 more reviews!

We only need two more reviews! Feel free to check out our game. This game was a ton of fun to work on and learn from. Let us know what you think!

Released on last day: Rapid Pizza Delivery

RPD_Cover.png

One day before the ratings end I finally managed to submit my extra entry: Rapid Pizza Delivery. You're a pizza delivery driver and have to make sure you deliver the pizzas in time. This game is inspired by GTA and GTA2 and features similar driving mechanics.

Unfortunately due to unforeseen circumstances I didn't have the amount of time I originally planned and my teammate had to bail before we started, so the game, while fully playable, is not finished in regards of the originally intended scope. I still hope it is fun, and may add the missing features at a later point depending on its reception.

Looping with a train?! Why not :)

One more review until we're golden!

We just need one more review until we don't have to worry about not getting rated! Come enjoy our game made by a 3-man team!

We only need 3 more ratings :)

Here's a hint: you can find the first coin hidden behind the wall to the left of the shelf in the wine cellar. The other 2 are up to you :)

Good luck to everybody!

Anybody got any games for me to rate?

I've been slacking on rating as usual, and need to rate a bunch more tomorrow, whenever I get the chance. If you could drop any game links you want down in the comments so I can grind through them tomorrow, it would be appreciated! Preferably games under 20 ratings, as I'd like to help as many people under 20 ratings as possible, but I don't mind if it's over that, I just really need to play as many as possible before the time period ends...

...Oh and sorry for the self-promo, but my game has only got 15 ratings at the time of writing, help would be appreciated :'-) (It's an endless runner so it should only take a few minutes to play): https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/53/manhole-mailman

My kingdom for a handful of votes!

Howdy everyone! A potent combination of illness and slacking dealt me a (hopefully not fatal) blow to my efforts to rate other peoples' games this time around, but it's not too late!

If anyone would mind spending a couple of minutes to rate my game, I would be deeply - endlessly - grateful.

Thank you all!! Comment down below and I'll see if I can give your game a playeroni too

Inquiries can be directed here: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/53/peggys-post

You know what would be really funny?

If I end up not getting the final rating because someone forgot to give my game an Overall rating.

I wouldn't even be mad, that would just be kinda impressive.

Thanks for playing our tad haiku game.

This time we managed to do everything the way we wanted it, despite having some fast last minute changes and decisions in order to make this game a complete experience with a narrative of your own comprehension.

We started as 2 artists (story/music/art). Now we code, we pipeline, we got tech. We know how to make ideas work. And we have many good stories to tell, for invoking the best in ye all.

So, here we go, see you around in gamedev. Bearing mind scrying game experience.

!!ardskapeem1/emMAIN_small.jpg

P.S. You can still take a swings of our mindful experiment.

We encourage you to look out for our new games to come (we have some in development). We're also participating in Adventure Jam on itch, see you there.

P.P.S.

Despite one can be quite creative within the theme, we found it a rarity with most of the games this time, therewith we really ask for LD community to let the next jam theme to encourage more creativity on its own: so that we'd see the mind of the game makers go far beyond the obvious words' definitions. Let the brain cells boom and shine!

6 Ratings To Go

Need six more ratings. Will also do my best to rate whoever rates my game. Thanks.

Hello, fellow procrastinators!

Once again, I forgot about ratings until the last possible moment. You know the drill: rate our game, and we'll rate yours!

Try out all the guns in "Developer Mode"

Mission Delete currently features 24 different guns with varying fire rates, bullet spacing, projectile behavior, and attack angle. During gameplay, press "9" on the Numpad to enter Developer Mode and try all the guns freely.

If you have any cool ideas for guns or projectiles, let me know in the comments and I'll put them in!

Looking for Leaderboard contenders!

Adding a leaderboard to your games is great because it really lets you see how many people are playing and how they're doing -- plus a little friendly competition is always fun. I used a service called Dreamlo.

Thanks for playing

I appreciate the ratings and valuable feedback the game has received thus far. Definitely prioritize some games in the Danger Zone, * but if you haven't tried *Mission Delete yet, please give it a try.

Play Mission Delete

Land the create with laser precision near the flag, **can you** ?!?

Can you do it?

It's a minimalistic physics game where you steer an ugly plane and eject a crate in ejectable areas to reach a flag for at least 3 seconds. You can speed up a bit and the crate will be thrown harder. You can turn your plane upside down so that gravity helps you when ejecting.

The speed of your plane also makes the throw different.

Hi jammers,

I just uploaded the (maybe) last update of the postjam version of our game Wicked Deliveries

The game is now as we intended it to be, with a little storyline, a hard difficulty option and most importantly more cuteness :) We are glad for your feedback on this version and hope you have as much fun playing as we had making it.

Have a nice day and enjoy your flight

Things I Didn't Like

We're all waiting on tenterhooks for the results or our last few ratings now, so I'm going to ruin the vibe and mention a few things I saw that annoyed me.

  • Browser-embedded games too large to play in my browser window. I prefer not to have to fullscreen or maximise my window for jam games unless they really demand it. Sometimes even maximising the window isn't enough. Does your WebGL game with simple models/sprites really need to be 1080p?
  • Controls based entirely on WASD + E/Q/etc. WASD controls are a standard on keyboards because the other hand is assumed to be using the mouse. Without that, you've crammed everything awkwardly onto one hand for no reason, and it's most people's off-hand to boot. And if your game only has directionals, you can allow both WASD and arrow keys.
  • Blatant ChatGPT blurbs. Mate you spent all weekend working on this, give me a couple sentences of what you were thinking. Don't make me eat a bowl of someone else's dry oats.
