Welcome to the Gelato System 2k38.
Wake samurai we have LD to Burn
... Lets go ya Moudir

This (two-player) game is really hard to record gifs of by myself.
Be prepared to judge the souls of the dead on the Scale of Maat! I am incredibly proud of this effect, despite how simple it is :p

i hope everyone's going well! my game is actually finished because i'm rushing it, haha.
i originally didn't plan to even join the jam, considering i have four exams next week i need to study for (.... right.) but here we are! the theme was fine, and when i found myself an idea i couldn't leave behind while scrolling through the ludum dare discord i just had to make it.
fortunately it didn't take long and i have a basic game with an idea that i'm in love with.
if you check out my game, emoceans, i hope you enjoy it! otherwise, thanks for reading. all the best with your submissions too.

We are wrapping up tonight's work with some gameplay by @dynames and art concepts by @reant and @sirixam!

So far in my game I have 15 levels. 7 of them are pretty easy, I think, but I'm honestly worried that some of my newer ones are waaaay too hard as I was hoping to give this game more of a chill vibe. Hmmm.
In other news, I've figured out how to place the 2D UI into a 3D scene. This will allow me to create a cool 3D scene that grants the player more knowledge about the puzzles... if I can complete such a scene fast enough. We'll see.
(Incidentally, this is why most of the levels are X'd out--they require knowledge about the puzzle systems that the player will have to find to have a reasonable chance at completing the level).

The hardest level so far is level 15. Just look how difficult it looks!

...Well, it may not look too hard. But it is surprisingly tricky, I think.

Not too much done tonight besides design and this piano drop, but I think I at least have the main idea figured out, and I'll hit it harder tomorrow. I think I'm going to end up calling this game, "The Show Must Go Down".
I just barely could start working on the jam maybe an hour or two ago, and I can't seem to come up with any ideas that I like/are unique enough/can be done in the time frame. This is harder than I expected, and I haven't even begun working on the game yet.
My ideas that I most likely plan not to do:

So, the jam started at 3 am for me, I stayed up until 2 AM but slept :( At 5 AM, I woke up and got to know the theme, finally something I liked lol. Because I'm using Unity, I'll have a simple game. A player that revolves around a point, and has "un-stable" enemies on its sides, they can shoot random amount of lasers and any random time. And you'll need to either kill them by shooting or making them shoot each other, I hope I complete a big chunk today! If not, it'll have to be jam.

Kinda tempted to latch on to this interpretation at the moment since I generally like edgier undertones in my games, but I'm not sure if I can do it justice.
Gonna keep brainstorming for a little more for now.

8 hours in, and I have a pretty convincing test level, at least to my eyes. I had a lot of fun with the music/sfx system, I love the old school REZ vibes.
Now, little coffee break, and then Level design !

Yes, this runs on real NES hardware! The game is gonna be about fixing unstable TV signals :D
I'll be posting more news about the gameplay later today
Good morning from northern Europe. Time to start jamming on my fav shirt!

Our group of college students pay more attention to the plot :D
End of day 1 for us and just wrapped up the model for the Turret Walker enemy:

And now, time to get a bit of sleep!
I got brainstorming, and got an idea.
I'd say it's quite a wonderful idea. Only the hard part comes in making the art... not the programming, but the art. So, I say, even though if the art's not going to be too good but the concept and mechanics are good enough!
And of course, I'm already making the game (the actual game not messing around and stuff.)
I hope it works...
