My base library!

As per the rules, here’s my base library that I use for all my games:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/n99o55iz17ykqs6/moonlove%2B%20v0.1.zip

It’s written in Moonscript, an incredibly expressive and concise scripting language that compiles to Lua.  Since it’s just an improved syntax for Lua, it works flawlessly with Love2D.

Here we go again…

Until there’s a theme, there’s not much more to say.

Likely architecture again is HTML5/JS/Flask.  Maybe some Go?  A touch of Java?  Who knows… 8)

First Jam!

This is my first Ludum Dare Jam.

Here’s what I’ll be looking at for the next three days:

And I’ll most likely be using:

Adventure Game Studio

MS Paint / GIMP

Audacity / Samplitude Pro X

Good luck everyone!

One last thing…

with less than 15mins to go I forgot to mention one of my favourite tools. I am a full time game designer by day and I love using xmind for fast brainstorming, structure design and mapping of game components.

You got 10 mins spare, check it out!

I’m in!

Man, is that fun to say!

I’m ready for my first official Ludum Dare.  I tried to enter the mini LD 7dRTS but couldn’t find the time, so this will be my debut.

Thanks to Quill18 for his live broadcasts which introduced me to Ludum Dare ( back in LD 24 with “Pinbology”).  I’ve been following the competition since then, and now I’m ready to compete.  I’ll be using Game Maker 8.1 and MS Paint.  That’s all I know so far.

So, here we go.

Good luck to everybody!

Welcome to the game! Best of luck

Im in!

Last minute post to say that I’m in.

Spent most of yesterday setting stuff up to get ready, prepped all the distribution stuff so I’m not fussing about with that on Sunday – pretty lucky that I did since it took about 5 hours to get it working how I wanted.

But anyway, I’m in, and I’ll be using the following:

Language: Java
IDE: Eclipse
Libs: LWJGL, Slick
GFX: Photoshop
Audio: SFXR
Food: Lots of crap and energy drinks

I might go and look at setting up a timelapse similar to my LD23 entry too…hmm

Good luck everyone!

I have no idea what I’m doing!!

Another silly “I’m in!” post!

Hello there, all of you that go down this page of blog posts and skim this quickly. This is my…3rd? time trying for develop for Ludum Dare. Maybe this time I’ll actually get somewhere!

That’s really it for right now. I’ve got tools and stuff but I might talk about them later once I get the first development post up.

I’m in

Well, ten minutes to go, might as well post this now.

I’ll be using javascript (with raphael.js), gimp, inkscape and musescore (maybe I’ll also use audacity).

Good luck everyone.

Im in! {:

Tools:

– Microsoft Visual Studio 2010

– XNA Framework

And maybe Photoshop or Paint.net for the art. :}

Back in the game!

Hi, this is PhilZ.

Unfortunate for me, I lost my other account’s password and could not get a new one, mostly of because I forgot the email (whops), So made a new one. This will be my second time on Ludum dare (If I participate in the competition and I am looking forward to it).

10 minutes

So in ten minutes it will be like one of the greatest “hundreds of people press the F5 button at same time” flashmob.

I’m in

MY second time competing in the Ludum Dare. Hoping to do pretty well this time around.

Above is my work space for Ludum Dare #27, besides cleaning my desk/room a bunch I made sure that I wouldn’t have any additional setup to do during the competition (so everything is plugged in and ready to go).

Hardware:

  1. Black Dell PC – Using this for development (using stencyl for its ease)
  2. Macbook Pro – Using for music production (which ive never done before…), sfx capture and is hooked up too…
  3. Wacom Bamboo tablet – Any non pixel art (I prefer to do that via a mouse)
  4. Blue Microphone
  5. Wireless mouse
  6. External monitor
  7. Headphones
  8. Smartphone – For blog update pictures etc

Software:

  1. Construct 2- Super fast to develop something, I also really want to focus on design etc (rather than technical things etc)
  2. Garage Band – Never really used this before but I’m going to try to make my own music for once
  3. Audacity – Nice for recording sfx and the like
  4. Pickle – Haven’t really used this for pixel art but i’ll try it out if that’s the route I want to go in
  5. Pixelmator – Mac drawing program, also never used this before…
  6. Dropbox – Syncing files between the two computers I’ll be using
  7. WinSCP – FTP program

Other Things:

  1. Food – Bought a bunch of easy to make food for the next two days
  2. Drinks – Bought caffeinated drinks (coffee + other junk) to keep me awakish
  3. Beer – Because why the hell not
  4. Notepads – I love doodling out ideas so I have a bunch on hand at all times

All in all I’m pretty happy with the setup I have right now, it’ll be nice to not have to set anything up throughout the whole process. I will most likely buy a taller/larger side table and try to keep this setup from now on tbh 😀

I’m in!

Hello humans. I wanted to write you all a huge letter. I’ll tell you the story of my first game jam. I registered, I planned, I was excited. When the time came, I realized I only had 4 hours till going away on a trip to a place without internet connection for 10 days. What a reasonable human would’ve done was give up and enter the next one. I made the game anyway in those mere 4 hours, didn’t come up last, and got pretty decent reviews. I am in no way a good game designer whatsoever. Not even a decent one. Now I’m in LD27. This is my first time in this jam and I don’t think I’m even remotely ready for this. I’m in a hotel room in Buenos Aires with a sh***y laptop and won’t be getting home till tomorrow. Oh, and also, I’ve got an exam and some other important-and-time-consuming university stuff on monday. So, you know, luck isn’t on my side when it comes to game jams. But well, I’ll try my best.

I think my engine will be Game Maker 8. I started getting familiar with Unity and UDK in the last few weeks hoping I would have enough knowledge to make a game in one of them by now but… well, anyone who used those engines knows the rest of the story. I love Game Maker too much. But don’t worry, no click-the-apple games coming from me, I can assure you.

Graphics will be handled by CS5, music will be royalty-free cause I wanna spare you the pain of listening to a repetitive burp sound made by myself, and sfx will be sfxr\bfxr and library-based.

I hope I finish something that can make my mamma proud within this three days and I wish you all luck.

Now that I think about it, I don’t wish you luck. You guys don’t need it, you are good enough on your own.

cheers

Feysoura

tl;dr I don’t know what I’m doing here. This should be fun.

I’m in!

I’m really excited about this one, and I’ve got a bunch more experience under my belt.

I’ll be using Paint.net and Construct 2, and I haven’t decided what to use for sound yet.

I might look at using something like Spriter for animation if I have time.

All in all, it looks like this is going to be a fun 48 hours.

Good luck to everyone.

Might be in, might be out!

If the theme is enticing enough, I’ll take a jab at it. I’ll use LÖVE and this as I did during LD26.
