At last!

Screen menu

The title screen!

Here we are.

When we started this, I was firmly convinced that we would have to cut some features and really make things simplier (and shittier) than planned. But finally, the game appears to be better than we thought at the beginning. No need to say we are very happy with the outcome. There is probably a lot of things we could have done to improve it, but this game contains everything we could have wished in a game : cake, chili-flavored condoms, and even a LoTR reference. We can’t wait to know what you guys are thinking about A Boolean Tale.

Anyway, we hope that you will have as much fun playing it that we had doing it. It was a very fun and intense experience, and the outcome largely rewards the time and work we’ve put on it.

Now, we will take some well-deserved sleep (the one hour sleep before doing class last night was really awful), and of course playing and rating as much games as possible. It is really awesome to see how many games can be made in such a short time. We wish good luck to everyone rushing their submissions in this last half-hour, and we sincerely hope you are as well satisfied with your game.

Below our some screenshots of the game so you can make yourself an idea. Oh, and of course, you can :

Done and done!

Ladies, Gentlemen and fellow jammers!

It is finished and uploaded (and only just in time)

Those of you who have been following this one will see that I lost my project yesterday and all my work was mostly gone. I managed to pull it together in the final few hours after starting from scratch this evening!

Please enjoy… “OUR FINAL CHANCE” A game that sets you as one of five scientists tasked with preventing the end of the world! (gasp!)

Thanks to everyone for the support and I hope you enjoy my game.

Finished at least :D

Well I lost faith into finishing the game in time, but it worked somehow. I don’t recommend to try two jams (this one and the FGL Jam) at once in 3 days xD.

But I’m happy to present “Earth Prime”. I think this game is something different.

http://www.stencyl.com/game/play/23209

Description:
After the Big Bang you are responsible for the wealth of the planet Earth. Choose your upgrades to lead mankind to glory by increasing productivity, technology and population to the max, while reducing the pollution to a minimum. Be the fastest strategist and discover the truth about your planet.

You play the game with the mouse only
Important: Every upgrade costs 5% of your productivity,

It was made with Stencyl 3.0, Photoshop CS3 and Fruity Loops 9 for the Jam in 12 hours.

Enjoy saving the planet ;). Tommorow I’l play and rate all your games.

Well, we’ve done it. Game is done.

But before we make a post with videos of the playthrough, here is an action gif of the Hydra handling the Bow.

And so it finished, just in time, just as always.

CyberDefenceScreenshot

Try out our awesome game, but don’t take our word for it! Tell us what you liked or didn’t like.

Another Ludum Dare finished with great success. Also, our first game as a company! We are very proud to present you with the following game called Cyber Defence! A game where you’ll have to fight waves of computer viruses to keep your precious data from becoming corrupted. To fight of this scumm you have one standard laser and 8 special weapons at your disposal. There is however one catch, you’ll only be able to use those once per wave! So chose wisely and stack up that awesome combo (which also make your weapons even stronger). Survive as many waves as you can in this endless carnage simulator.

We hope you like the game as much as we do. If so, give us a quick rating and brag to all of your friends about your high score! If you want to see more of us Random Abductions, visit your (soon to be released) website for all our current and future games. www.randomabductions.com. Or check out our LD26 game STL RNNR.

Oh and one other thing, soon this game will have oculus rift support. For all ya’ll awesome supporters.

Before we end this post we want to thank Isa Pfab for her enemy models and her creative input and thank Joris Hoogsteder for all the music and sound effects!

Greetings from,

Our Impressions

This is technically both our 3+ Ludum Dare and it shows. Our projects become more doable and creative each time. However we have still a lot to learn since we still find ourselves hacking together the project at the last possible second. Lacking sleep most of the time and failing to keep up the productivity we would like to achieve. Nonetheless we had lots of fun, and that’s what counts. Apart from the user response at the end of course.

The good:

We love our game, something that is more important than you might think. We have also sticked to our plan this time and refrained ourselves from doing something that was way too difficult (like writing our own random dungeon generator which took us one day last time). Also we have managed to outsource the things that we are not that good at, music in this case. Which turned out super well. As did the sound effects that he made, which now fit the music and the style of the game. Way better then generated sound effects.

The bad:

As always there are ways to improve our game (pun intended I guess). For one, collaboration with unity still is a problem. When merging two projects together a myriad of problems arise. Models that disappear, code that spontaneously changes results, textures which are gone all of a sudden. But mostly, when merging two projects that have GameObjects with the same name, they just replace without warning. Very frustrating if you have just sunken an hour in making the damn thing. However, we have avoided the whole “using different unity versions” fiasco from last time -,-‘.

How to fix you might ask? Make a decent project plan with time slots at the start (great startup for an early morning). This will hopefully fix our ‘no time for this feature’ stress and our final sprint panic issue.

Also buying a unity version with team support would hopefully fix a lot. As would merging project assets during the game design process instead of afterwards relieve us of major stress disorder.

Game improvements?

Although we are totally fond of our little new baby we created. There always are some tweaks we would like to make after the initial release. Here is a list of possible improvements we found ourselves, feel free to add some of your own to the list by commenting on this post.

  • Adding Oculus Rift support.
  • Addressing balancing issues.
  • Tweaking UI features, for example a progress bar.
  • Adding diverse enemies.
  • Adding spawn points.
  • Adding points to defend instead of just your own tower.
  • Better controller support.
  • Adding an online leaderboard.
  • Possible mobile support (IOS/Android builds)
  • Coop!
  • More levels to play in with different layouts.
  • Multiple turrets to control and switch between.

Hatsumei Mage finally done

Wow, that was one tough LD!build 2013-12-17 05-27-49-84

Hatsumei Mage is a kind of really simple dungeon crawler, where one word decides the outcome of the battle.

I’ll make a proper post-mortem later, meanwhile you can try Hatsumei Mage yourself!

Time to submit !

Yay, i’ve made it ! You can play Goblyrinth on the web and view the sources here. \o/

Goblyrinth

The version has more or less been completed in time, i’m happy with it. It lack a better labyrinth, i think i will make it later in another non-ludum version. :)

Oh, and sorry for the english, i know it’s awfull. I’ve wrote the thing really late. :3

A better labyrinth

The game have been made in the Nesblog nest with these cool guys :
Angry Nelson by Gollunk, Shoaz & Bandouch
Duel of cowboys by Dcandle, Shoaz, Bandouch & Psykedelius

Proper Post Mortem

Nelios is amazing. He made a distributable copy of my game where I could not. So, I will now make a proper Post Mortem, with less hatred.

ONE is an ambient horror 3D first person puzzle game. In ONE, you traverse a maze of greyscale hallways and corridors that defy the laws of common geometry and space to find an escape.

———————————————————–

I actually had the idea for a game like this a very long time ago, when I was DM’ing a campaign for D&D 3.5 among some of my friends. I wanted to come up with an interesting dungeon layout, instead of simply piling on monsters to keep the flow going. So I drew up a map of a network of disconnected halls with little arrows pointing between them to show the teleportation (Why the heck is that word underlined in red?) between them. I added a few monsters, too, just to add a bit of pacing to the explorations. It went down pretty well, and everyone enjoyed it, so I began writing up some plans to make a game out of the concept. I decided to make it an ambient horror game to add to the whole eeriness of the idea, and because I hate jump scares. I decided to make it black & white because I think colour detracts from terror. People take comfort in colour (at least I do). I figured extremely heavy fog into the idea as well, due to the fact that you’re being teleported (really, now. Teleport is a word…) around and I didn’t want the transitions to be noticeable. I decided to strike combat from the idea as well, because people strangely tend to take comfort in combat, too.

And then, I forgot about it.

After planning all of this out, I neglected to ever program it, and it slipped into the massive list of unfinished ideas. So then, when I got this theme, I was disappointed. Honestly, I was gunning (pun intended) for duel, as I was planning on making a western shoot-out game with Matrix-style slow motion. I didn’t want to make the generic you-only-get-one-bullet or, god forbid the unoriginality, you-only-get-one-life, so I began thinking about the theme from wacky points of view. After a few minutes, I realized that One could be a name of the game, as in “you only get this game”. So then I immediately set out to come up with an acronym for it. This changed back and forth quite a bit over the 48 hours, but in the end, I settled on Obscured Nonphysical Expanse, which I’m pretty happy with.

You can play ONE here. Web support is coming soon…

Finished our first game ever!

Hey all,

we really finished the game, submitted it just a couple of minutes ago. Time was running out extremely fast and we had no chance to implement our background music and there are no animations, sadly. But nontheless we are thrilled and also proud that we have finished our first game EVER! It’s really short, but we hope you are going to like it. :)

Running Low

My submission for the LD28 : Running Low

A ship piloted by robots has been infected with a computer virus sending the robots mad. One lowly recharging robot is left uninfected. Now he is trying to survive with what little resource he has left. Using an EM blast which drains the charging unit of all his power you must use it wisely to chain together enemies and collect energy back from their explosions for another charge.

New Web version just added please check it out and rate.

The Great Moussolini

We’re a team of 4 people, two programmers, one artist/game designer, and one sound designer. This was our first game ever and it’s a hilarious one. It’s pretty broken but we love it all the same. 3/4 of us learned how to use Construct 2 a day before the game jam started and we had never officially worked on any project with one another. This was quite the experience! One day we’ll find this game on our hard drive, play it and laugh our asses of, wondering what we were thinking.

Here it is! Help The Great Moussolini get to the moon!

I’ve been wanting a programmer as a friend all my life! Finally, I have one, and he’s amazing! I’m so thrilled to have an outlet for my own graphic design skills I’ve worked to develop over the years. Please rate our game. It takes a little time to download, but it’s a solid experience all the way to the end.

Cup’s Quest!

title screen

screen1

screen2

This is the first game that I (Paulo) make as a team with my girlfriend (Bianca)! I made the code, while she made the art.

The concept of the game is simple: you have to reach the end of the dungeon, fighting monsters and solving puzzles, but with a catch:

Cup, the hero of the game, has only one arm, so he can only hold one item!
The item you choose at the beginning of each stage will define how you progress through it, with every item having many uses.

Originally, we planed for many more items and stages, but, of course, that wasn’t possible. Currently, there are 2 short stages playable, showing everything we could make, in the time we had, even though it’s rough around the edges…
We are definitely going to improve this game later, though.

Probably very buggy, I’ll correct everything possible as soon as I can. Web version coming soon.

PLAY!
