Intent of participation

It’s been a long time since I actually finished something at Ludum Dare. I’m fully motivated this time though, since I told a lot of people that I’m participating this time and they are expecting something by the time LD is over.

Technologies and software I’m going to use:

  • Coding: I’m not completely decided on that one yet. It’s going to be either Unity3D or my own JavaScript game development framework Lyria with WebStorm and maybe CoffeeScript or ECMAScript 6 using the 6to5 transpiler
  • Graphics: Blender for modeling and 3D stuff, GIMP for texturing and 2D
  • Audio: SFXR for sound, GarageBand for music
  • Normally, I would also shoot a desk photo, but I haven’t cleaned up my desk and it’s like a layer of gamepads and headphones over a layer of tablets over a layer of keyboards. So it’s too messy, but if I get that a bit cleaned up and if there’s sunlight, I might try to take a photo later on.

Hm, I don’t think telling a bunch of people that you’re participating is the best motivation.

    Best of luck though :)

    Almost 4 hours to LD!

It’s the time of last checks and we are getting ready for starting LD 31!

    We are in!

    We are in!

I’ll be joining the Jam this time, but I think we will need to deliver the game by sunday, so, we are aiming for something super simple.

    The team is:

    Saint11 (Me) – Coding, Art
    Greg Toth – Coding
Amora - Some concept art and ideas <3

We will be using Otter, a 2D C# Framework built on SFML 2. Most of the art will probably be made on GraphicsGale and Photoshop.
I’m still not very sure how sound and music will be done yet, I’ll post something when we start making it :)

So yeah, I guess I’m in, possibly maybe

I think I’ll be going for this Ludum Dare compo as well, but like I said in my previous post, I won’t have the full 48h… maybe I can manage to get 30, but no more. I hope that’s enough!

Anyway, I’ll be using my 2D Java game engine JangoDare and many other things. GIMP for graphics, possibly Bfxr & Audacity for sound (if any).

Let’s see how this goes! Happy coding =D

    I Am In

This will be my first Ludum Dare!

    I will be using:

    • Language: C++
    • Libraries: SDL2.0 as well as SDL_Image and SDL_ttf
    • IDE: Visual Studio 2013
    • Graphics: GIMP
    • Sound:  Bfxr and Audacity

    Good luck to everyone participating!

    First thoughts on the theme

Arcade style game.Good scope, re-playable,  lots of tutorials online for places to start. Tough to differentiate your game among the plethora of arcade games out there.

Put all the game on screen, literally. Visualize all the inner workings of the code, the buffer, the event handling, the AI, everything. Put the entire game on screen.

Anti-theme game concept: Game on too many screens.

Force the player to play across multiple screens, maybe browser windows plus smart phone(s). Make the screens a game mechanic. Using a browser extension based HTML5 game you should be able to track window and tab positioning.

I’m leaning towards an arcade game for simplicity so I can take the time to polish and juice it up.

    Hello,

Newbi at Ladum Dare who picks up coding mostly for fun. The professional coding dates back to the 70 and 80’s.

    Ok, I’m in

Hello! It’s the first time I will Dare. It’s the great place to challenge my skills. I’m a programmer, and yesterday I opened GIMP for the first time over the last two years. The result not so bad as I expected.

My wife will help me with drawing and animation (and maybe music?) I hope, this will be a good weekend.

    Language: Javascript + Panda.js
    Graphics: GIMP, Pencil – animation
    Sound: ???

    Good luck everyone.

    We Are In

The team is back together, and excited to be doing another Jam. See below for the technical stuffs:

    Language: Java

IDE: Eclipse + Saros to sync

    Media: Audacity+Paint.NET

    Libraries: Standard Java

We are looking forward to it!

I’m In for my 3rd one!

just over 4 hours to go…. wonder what the final ‘theme’ will be.

This will be my 3rd attempt at LD, past 2 have been enjoyable for me, although the wife doesn’t quite understand why I say “no” to a lot of stuff and ignore her more than usual.. :)

Lets see what I manage to produce by Sunday.

    Good luck everyone.

    Code: Fusion 2.5

Music/SFX : sxfr for SFX, maybe Magix Music Maker (dunno if it falls under derivative work or not?) for Music

Graphics : probably some 3d program and/or paint shop pro

    My Game Idea

Okay, so after a lot of thought I think I’ve decided on an idea that I like.

Basically, the player wakes up in his room, and can explore it as much as he wants, with interactables (doors, closet, etc), which just pop up a text box explaining that it’s too early to leave the room/the closet is empty/etc. There is a computer on a desk which proves to be the only interactable object that actually does something meaningful – when you activate it the camera zooms in on the monitor, and you start playing a platformer. I haven’t decided on anything specific about the platformer itself yet, that will come with time. Anyways, it plays as you’d expect a platformer to play, except there is a catch. To say that your monitor is “cheap” would be an understatement, and it regularly dims out to the point that you can’t see anything. Fortunately, you can fix this by whacking the monitor a few times, but you have to stop playing the game for a short while to do this. Meanwhile, the game continues to play in the background, not paused. You have to plan according to when your monitor will dim, and leave yourself in a suitably safe location while you fix it. If you die while AFK you must restart, as well as when you die in-game (obviously). When you finish the game, the camera returns to the room where you discover that it is now morning, and your mother is yelling at you from downstairs to come down for breakfast. *Cue fade to black*

I probably won’t do any work tonight, and will start early in the morning tomorrow. Any comments/feedback are welcomed, and appreciated!

    Good luck everyone,

    TheMaster99

    Let’s Get Started

Well as the title states I can’t wait to drink gallons of coffee and stay up into the obscene hours of the night.  Hoping for this  theme.  I have no idea what that means to me but that is the fun of it right.  Also artificial life would be fun but I think the christmas emoticon will be  my first choice.  Can’t wait to get started and good luck to everyone.

I’m in, for the second time

Really want to submit in “compo” this time, but kinda doubt that two days will ever be enough for me 😀

    I’m using:

    Engine: Unity3D

    Graphics: Blender & Photoshop

    Sound/Audio: Propellerhead Reason 5

    Good luck everyone!

    And by the way

    snowman must die

    We’re in!

Me and my friend are in for the second time. Our first Ludum Dare was an amazing experiance and we were looking forward to the next one. Sadly, we will have only about 36 hours of making a game because we’ll be away on the 3rd day.

    Tools we’ll be using:

    • Language: C++
    • Engine: Unreal Engine 4
    • Art: 3DS Max

    Ludum Dare Compo hype!

First time participating. Pretty hyped, not expecting to much 😛

    Type: Compo

    Language: C++

Librarys: SFML, possibly SFGui if needed.

Graphics: Gimp or MS Paint for now

Music: Probably no music :( Only if I have alot of time left I ight do some research into it.

    Hype hype!

    I’m in (again)!

Let’s do this! Hopefully, my game this time will be better than Robot Attack, which was just a buggy mess. I still had fun doing it though. Anyway, I’m excited to hear what the theme will be this time, maybe it’ll be something a little better than last year’s 😉
