First LD
Glad to be part of LD 31! I’ve been wanting to partake for a while 😉
Glad to be part of LD 31! I’ve been wanting to partake for a while 😉
Going to join for the second time. That unicode snowman though.
Tools: Unreal Engine 4, Visual Studio 2013, Blender, Adobe Fireworks, dDo, nDo
I’ve been asked to do more blog posts this LD edition (last I did 0 aprox).
As I start writing this it’s almost 11pm here at Sabadell (near Barcelona). Almost time to go to sleep and refill energy for this wonderfull weekend. I’ve just uploaded to bitbucket my work-in-progress engine, and tomorrow I’ll start from that point. Anyone interested is on here, now it’n on licensing limbo but I’ll release on GPL, I think.
Why I’m doing this? I have 2 main reasons: it is fun, and it’s the best way to learn game design.
Also I’ll be working with my girldfriend (art) and with code I just published so we won’t be on the main compo but on the Jam, so we actually have a reason to use #LDJam 😀
Now the plan. C++, sfml, OGL. 2D, probably… my engine is 3D, but I can add 2D support and will be usefull (the engine has been barelly started, by the way, this week I started font rendering support). Sound… that’s gonna be a tought one.
Now some uninteresting backstory. I’ve been doing the lasts LD in Unity, and the ones before them in Java. All this was to support multiple OS, so why going back to C++, wich I probably won’t be able to make a port to anything and won’t be web-playable? Well… I ended the last LD burned. I felt like I wasn’t doing anything innovative in Unity and I want to feel the air in my skin. So sorry everyone who won’t be able to play my next game for that, I REALLY need to enjoy this LD and I have to break some things I did on past LD to do that.
Going back some paragraps. To have fun, and to learn. And I know more or less what I want to learn.
I want to learn if my engine is worth anything. If I’m able to finish something with it, it will be a great leap forward.
Also, there is a genre I just put my eye on: managers (as in Football manager), I plan to make a manager this LD. I know we are not supposed to plan anything, and I really can’t make any promises, but I just want to try that genre and tomorrow morning when I wake up and I see the theme, the first thing I’ll do is try to match it (☃) with the manager genre.
And let’s be honest, most of you will do a 2d platform scroller, so what is wrong in having a desired genre?
Haven’t taken part in a while, so why not!
I’ll be using:
Unity, with a collection of my own libraries (view framework and mesh/graphics tools)
Photoshop,
Maybe cinema4D if I need to do some 3d modelling.
Audio will most likely be either generated or from the marvellous jam assets being provided this time round.
Hey everyone. First time competing and I’ll be working with with the game dev club at my university. Looking forward to an exciting weekend!
Toolbelt: Unity/Monogame, Gimp, Inkscape
Hello everyone! I thought I’d better make the customary “I’m in” post, on behalf of myself and a friend of mine whom I’ve convinced to give game development a try (he’s had limited experience in game modding and plans on doing the art for our game). Not sure how much we’ll get done since we’re both on a competitive Team Fortress 2 team that’s doing a lot this weekend, but we’ll do what we can! This is my fourth time doing this (one attempt, two finished games – wow it’s been a while!) and like I said, first time for my buddy (known to the online world as Timba). Should be interesting to find out what two high school kids with limited time on their hands can accomplish.
Tools:
-Game Maker Studio (for me to make the game itself)
-Photoshop (for Timba to make pretty pictures)
-sfxr, maybe Audacity, might use tracks from nosoapradio.us (music/sound effects)
-sleep, ice cream, hot chocolate, three cats (for survival purposes)
Good luck everyone! Can’t wait to find out what the theme is…
Our moral support team (first two are Timba’s, third one is mine):
As per usual I’m a bit late for my post, but whatever!
First Jam/Compo from this account 😀

Let’s see how this theme turns out!
I am actually going to take part this year! I have watched the last couple of Dare’s but have never taken part. I will be making my game in C# using the following:

I’m in! Even with Finals week in progress (including work, a choir concert, and studious amounts of studying) I think I should have time to make something playable.
I’ll be using GameMaker Studio, and that’s about it!
*I’m in, song and dance here*
It’ll be made with Processing and Caustic if I feel musicy. That is all.
Have a great dare!
The normal I’m in post. This is my 4th Ludum Dare using Java, Libgdx and PyxelEdit; With sound being a secondary objective, I am also going for something much more simple!
Good Luck!
I’m in!
