SynthMatch is ~finished

Found some time to create a little game about changing parameters to match patterns, based on some core algorithms of sound generation.

As usual, of the original concept I had time to implement less than 10%, and I’ve never seen this done before so I’m not sure what to expect. Still, I hope you like it and hopefully it could even interest someone in learning more about sound generation.

I didn’t have time to write this before as I wasn’t even sure what I’d make before yesterday so this is the tech I used:

Ice, Fire, Сodfish and Sheeps

I finished work on a prototype. Unexpectedly for us a game about Iceland turned atmospheric. The sounds in game are real. Sounds exactly like the wind and sheep. Sounds exactly like the storm inside the small house. Very strange feeling when you kill the sheep to survive until the end of winter.

I will be glad to your comments. Write what you like and what you need to add in the next versions of the game. I plan to release the game on mobile platforms in a month.

Day #2

Featuring a “Survival” meets “Simon Says” experiment that tells the last days the lost alien Zlotix, who is trying to resupply his Mothership to return his home planet Zlotxxia, while accidentaly turning into dust the marvelous ancient paradise of Egypt and by mistake giving birth to the most amazing legends of human history, the Pyramids ><‘

Ok So this is the progress of the day.

Done:
– Procedural boards.
– Character movement
– Display resources
– Pick resources and modify the tile

Pending:
– Make the Mothership ask for Alien materials in a procedural symbol fashion.
– Create the Time system and add lose condition.
– Create Score screen as win condition.
– Make the mothership animation turning Egypt into a desert to gather energy and turn everything into stone while teleporting into the hyperspace (Most likely gonna cut this baby T-T)
– Create the music!! omg I had completely forgoten about this. Actually I have a song in my mind, if I cannot go and create it I will just sing it to my recorder and paste it into the game ^^
– Improve procedural boards to have provide always the same quality tiles.

– Moving Animals  T-T

I finished my first LudumDare!
The product is WaveTrade.

Let me know what you think.
I hope the mechanics are clear enough.

That’s all folks

Didn’t finish a whole game, but given my limited time I’m satisfied. Got time to write a small tile loader and added some animation by manual timing. My ZxHs framework really needs more high-level combinators to ease drawing. For example, a singel operation to draw a sprite while also setting the color of all the intersecting attribute blocks. And probably drawing modes like XOR, AND, in addition to the (implicitly default) OR mode. Combining that with spritemasks and mask extensions, some nice effects could be added. Anyway, here’s the working gif-shot:

Pixel train with steampuffs

For code see https://github.com/TreeTide/zxhs/blob/ld36/trainy-day/app/Main.hs . I’ll probably rename the game, and eventually merge to master, so keep clicking around if it isn’t there. Be sure to follow on Twitter if you are into these kind of things.

Progress Report (39 hours in)

Crunching tasks. Small GUI tweaks this time, with bug fixes and gameplay balancing.

110s GIF. PATIENT ENOUGH?

Playtesting, audio-visuals and main menu left for tomorrow. Should be doable.

Final stretch!

All the menus are done, all the sounds that I really need are done, now it’s just time to make 8 more levels that are at least somewhat entertaining.

Maybe I’ll actually complete a game this time! I’ve only really done that once before. 😛

My First Jam

Here is a brief description of our game (still without name xD)

So, this is a side scroller which take place in an Egyptian pyramid.

You are playing as an adventurer who is looking for the tomb of the Pharaoh. On your way you will have to solve enigmes, find stuff and treasures in chests. But beware to mummies and traps!

Sentinel- Entry Submitted!

Sentinel submission page!

This was a great Ludum for me, I am pretty chuffed with what I made *and* I finished well within the time limit, spending the last couple hours knocking out web version issues and so on so it just plain works

It all worked surprisingly well, though I would have liked to get the lug to follow you around (more accurately I’d have liked to make a turning animation but eh)

Thanks to anyone who comments <3

Progress day 2: Some basic targets, improved UI and randomly generated levels

So, I have created two targets: the strawman and a bullseye target.

I’ve also added an arrow to the UI as well as a bar displaying the power.

A few things left:

  • More varied environment (snow field not good enough)
  • Difficulties should be adjusted when it comes to levels (same difficulty generated all the time at the moment)
  • Non stationary camera (probably just zooming and rotation)
  • Main menu

Kungo ancient kungo strong

At this time the game for the ludum dare is almost complete 😀 with tutorial and a general lvl :)

It’s simple but this time is only for pc just because i couldnt get time to set the touchscreen controls, but it could be in a future version.

You play as Kungo, a neandertal that protects the eggs of dinosaurs from alien invaders, to do it, you count with your streght, and that’s it. So break rocks, throw rocks and burn them into ashes. But to help you, each egg can hatch a powerfull dinosaur with special habilities, place them smartly and Destroy the Alien Spawners to win for the world!

Compo is dead, long live the jam

Deep deep in my heart I was hoping I could make it for the compo, but it was obvious I took far too large bite for that. On the other hand, I am really happy with what I have right now, especially the state of the engine. Gameplay is still lacking, but there is tomorrow for that.

I am making card game (read poor man’s Hearthstone clone) with one level where you fight against AI boss. Here is a sneak peak:

I feel you dude.

Something a little different

So I’m doing an online multiplayer game.

It’s something that I probably wouldn’t have done if there were ratings this round: a text-based game that takes place in a terrible 90s chat website (table-based layout and all). Through the actions available in the chat interface, you can interact with the fictional AI that controls the chat room and accomplish things that can have an effect on other players.

I know I am being cocky, but shouldn’t you want to have feedback even (and especially) when people don’t like it so you know what to do better?

I need the third day

Turns out first-person shooter frameworks don’t come about on their own, even with a graphical engine like Godot. Sorry for keeping everyone in the dark, but this is all I can show you for now:

Tech Race (previously known as Ancient Grabs): Update 4

As we near the end of Day 2, I’m going to take a good break and watch the TSM vs C9 finals going on now.

Did quite a bit, including adding much needed urgency through rival settlements. You have to go against two other settlements in a desperate race to discover as much ancient alien technology in a new world after the demise of Earth. Spent the last two-ish hours doing and redoing the logos representing the settlements. Players get to pick which one they want. Note: This game is not related to any recent game about catching creatures.

PurpleLogoBlueLogoYellowLogo

With the added rival settlements and the race between them, the name “Tech Race” suddenly makes a lot more sense than “Ancient Grabs” (a remnant name from when the game was simply a tech grabbing game).

Alright then, I’m off to watch the finals and recharge myself for Day 3. Lots to do!

Harald the pet T-REX

Today my sweet baby pet T-REX Harald learned how to throw garbage around – that sentence alone should be enough to mark this day as an successful one… But there is still alot to do and I really need to go nuts tomorrow to finish this. Good luck to all of you who also struggle with time :)

Second LD, First Game

Hard to describe with words what state I am now. The last time I participated, I failed, so this time it was a matter of principle.

The hardest part was (as last time) was working with images, this failed to take all I wanted – for example, instead of just output text on the top was supposed to be the area with the battle of the two armies.

dw-final

The main goal for the next LD is to find like-minded artist and to deal with some engine (I have nothing against HTML5, but I want something more).

It would be very interesting (and helpful) to hear some feedback on my project.

Good luck to all who still continue to work on their projects!
