Curator Carl Complete! (sort of)

Whew, finally done!
More or less.
Some little features are missing.
And the art could definitely be better.
Oh gosh the music is annoying…

Death to the future!

prom7

Managed to finish the game, took a bit longer than expected, but hey, it took a lot of time to to raise all these zombies!

Not the graphics on the market but it was kinda hard to draw with all these future people shooting lasers at me. Sadly I wasn’t able to implement all I wanted to, like limits to resources to make the game, you know, actually challenging, because I was sleeping working on a different project all day.

Gonna move to the jam…

I originally didn’t plan to do this, but based on the fact there’s not any serious judging this time around, and the fact that my game is doing far better than what I submitted for LD35, I’m going to aim for the jam, rather than rush the completion of what might turn-out to be an awesome game!

The plan is to finish tech and assets tonight, then work on levels and finishing touches tomorrow. That’s the plan, anyways. We’ll see how that goes.

Happy Hunting Grounds

Sate your primeval spirit! Ride the Mammoth! Shoot all the Bison and Boar! And don’t get eaten by the Sabre Toothed Tigers!

(WARNING! Very addictive on an iPad :) )

We are so glad we got something – anything – together for this contest! Been quite a ride, fitting in bits here and there. Made in under 10 hours using pure javascript and child labour! I put my kids to work and they loved tracing out sprites and play testing and coming up with ideas and stuff :)

No sleep last night, I’m so sleepy now :(

My progress so far

Only one day left, and I haven’t done much yet, because of something that didn’t work and that I had to drop out. Also, animating is so much time consuming (and my art is crappy :> ).

There are lots of other things I need to fix and do, but they probably won’t make it. It’s heartbreaking to have to give up some nice ideas. :(

can’t finish game

Welp, sadly I can’t finish my game…. Gonna do it next time on LD #37 since I worked and signed up 30 hours late after the time limit started since I’m a newbie.

hey, consider doing 1GAM (one game a month) rather than holding out for the next LD, or maybe a mini LD or another game jam.

If you want some practice in the mean time, onehourgamejam is a great place. Takes place every saturday and isn’t very strict. Lots of fun.

Something moving to the Jam.

Finally got some time to post our progress.

Me and my Girlfrienda are trying to do simple logic-platformer., using Unity 3D and photoshop.
So, our Characters finally can move properly, Game manager is standing ready, Camera controller also done,  God let me sleep, Animations complited.
A lot of 2D assets done, and still. a lot of to code ahead: Enemies, Interactions, HUD,

Looking for some sound assets.  :)

Day 3 approaches

Oh man… I haven’t worked on a game with such passion before…

I have about 25 hours to make it into the jam…

Dang, this Ludum Dare thing is exciting!

Happy day 3 to all jammers, and happy deadline day to all compo’ers!

AGE of OORGH is up!

It’s been sometimes uphill and sometimes downhill (mostly uphill though), but now it’s finished. AGE of OORGHT is here! I wrote and extensive premature post-mortem (aka pre-post-portem aka regular-mortem) on the submission page, so if you like reading stuff written by game devs, go here and read it. If instead you just want to play the game, go here and play it, however I highly recommend you to read the whole thing before posting comments or giving feedback.

I’ll admit I got pretty Lazy this Ludum Dare. But next time, we are going full force. Thanks 😀

Story:
You awaken in a blank room with a little compass that seems to be talking too you, telling you that you are trapped in another time, and you can get back with his help, but can you really trust him? As you use weapons from the present day to easily dispatch old warriors from Rome and Egypt, doesn’t it feel a little TOO easy?

Problems with the game:
-Tons of cut content (listed later)
-Story is mehish
-In my opinion, gameplay is kinda lack-luster

-The Chariot Escapade
-The Middle Ages
-Japan

#3 Update: Ok, Jam it is

Hey everyone! I’m a bit frustrated right now seeing all the finished games and I’m stuck few hours behind. :( I’m officially bailing on compo.
In better news I can share with you a bit of progress.
I’m still missing combat, transitions, SoundFX, music, menu and tutorial. I hope that I will finish it by tomorrow!
BTW I’ve seen some really cool games here! Great work everyone!

laser, windmill, delivery!

I did it, I actually finished my 6th compo!

Before saying anything else, I just want to thank everyone who made this jam possible once again. You guys are amazing <3

Also thanks to the community for being so awesome! 😀

Now onto a quick look back.

Originally my game was gonna be.. a LOT different. It was gonna have a short story and a couple of calm puzzles. After running into big issues and wasting hours on world generation, I had to change plans.

This is where I came up with the delivery concept. Originally it was gonna feature a much more varied world and be filled with diffrent enemies.
Completely unrealistic, now when I'm looking back. However, I had still managed to find a much safer path.

Soon the end was almost here, and I knew I wouldn't be able do all those fancy things I had made up in my mind.

The lasers were a last minute solution, when there wasn't enough time to add any better enemies. I think it worked out pretty well though.

As per usual the music is a 30 second loop. It was the last thing I put together before submitting, but I think it turned out pretty well.

Some lessions from this LD:
-Focus on gameplay first, game world later
-Do the difficult coding at the beginning of day 2. I had struggled with a problem for multiple hours, but after getting some sleep I solved it fairly quickly.
-Only create art assets you know for sure you're gonna use. Half of the assets for this project are never even used once.
-Make sure you have some kind of twist in the core gameplay. I thought it would be original enough with the whole delvery concept, but you're still mostly just platforming. Make sure the platforming is fun.
-Sleep more! I just slept way to little this time, making me work slow and having a hard time solving pretty easy probems.

All thing considered I’m happy with my game, and I’m really looking forward to next time!

Play my game here. If you leave a comment I’ll play yours back! 😀

To all of you that are still going: you got this!
