My game has a lot of bugs so… i’m in the jam, i guess

I’m proud to announce that the game is almost finished!
It has a cool menu:

A cool comic to tell de story:

A short tutorial:

And some mad special effects to scare the puny humans!

Tomorrow I’ll put on some background music and sound effects.
The game is almost completed, so I figure I’ll spend some time tweaking it to make it more enjoyable!
Going to sleep now!
Well I came out of LD36 with a game. It’s not my best LD entry for sure but considering the small amount of time I had this weekend this will do just fine.
Have a play, let me know what you think and all the best to the people still working hard.

Well, I honestly didn’t expect to make it here. While I’ve followed LD for quite a while, I never really thought I was the kind of person to be able to crank out a game from scratch in 48hrs. Heck, I even stacked the deck against myself by using a new engine, new genre, and a new art style (Yes, believe it or not, I had not made a game in 2D before and had never done a runner (Not really sure if I’ve made a runner yet, lol)).
I guess it just shows what even this ol’ dog can accomplish when you put prize money on the line.
Wait… What do you mean there’s no prize money?
You can play Runty Raptor’s Rock Roller here.
My first VR game is done, and by the looks of it, the first VR game *ever* submitted to Ludum Dare.
Check it out here!

Garbha for LD36, Ancient Technology, by FurtherForm
When the clock hit minute to deadline, the project compiled, had level with beginnning, character to control, score mechanic and reachable end condition. And not much else. Technically, it is a game, by the 48h deadline.
Wanted to focus on art and level desing, and I knew quite early that I coulnd’t the original vision by the deadline. At last few hours changed the target to have someting playable by deadline and just have fun. And I got there. But won’t submit like this, it is a good project, worth finishing properly. More to follow.

It’s done! I FINISHED a game in 48 hours, yes it needs polish, music, more objects, and music… but it’s playable!
This is probably my 3rd decent creation in Unity2D
All in all this was a great experience, being my first jam, time to catch up on sleep! See you in #LD37!
Oh! Heres my entry!
I continued doing some programming for the upgrade menu and fixing some states (I’m using state machine to control the game state, ex: Main Menu, Play Mode, Upgrade Menu, …).
There’s not much code left to do so I’m doing the art assets.
I did some drafts in pixel art and it looked horrible so I changed it to minimalistic. It seens like its quicker and easier to do so I might be on time.

A very simple walk cycle I did on Inkscape.
Obligatory .GIF of current progress.
Still lots of work to do, but I think I can make it before the deadline!
Hope to see something unique and polished from the other devs
PS: Please don’t mind the Charizards XD.
I think I was really close to having a game and not just a simulator. I lost my time the first day when I switched from 2D to 3D. It looks absurd but, yeah, 3D was easier. Dealing with a 3D engine for a 2D game can become a headache.
But the overall look is way better than I expected (thanks to 3D?).
Anyway even if there’s no point to my game, it’s still pleasant to play it (at least for a few minutes).

WOW there’s been a lot of extra kinks that had to be hammered out before getting this far. I am SOO glad that I opted to make this a jam otherwise there’s no way this would have gotten finished on this scale!
My friend from Studio Hiro and I are planning on continuing to work on this game and polish it out WAY more than it currently is, and will double this release as a prototype of sorts for when it gets built in full for a lore he has built.
Story thus far:
You are a half demon going through an invasion simulation at a museum of ancient relics, However the elevator you use to get from floor to floor doesn’t work right. To continue your descent you have to fight through the defending constructs to gather mysterious relics that, and I quote, are so old; that no one knows what they actually do anymore. However; it seems that they get the elevator working again.
Hoping to add in:
Working shop;
Dialog;
Monument spawns and additional custom rooms
advanced AI with combo attacks and multiple kinds of attacks
Boss battle.
I don’t think much of this at all is going to be added.

Finally finished.
really happy with this

Hope you all have had a good LD.

I think I found my solution.
I hope everybody had fun!
If you’re into skill-based platformers, check out my entry, Pyramid Heist. I really liked watching people play shoot-em-ups where you have to dodge bullets, so I adapted the concept to a platformer and toned the difficulty down.

Enjoy!

First SUCCESSFUL compo…. 3rd time is a charm right?
I just want to say that I’m very happy to finish this Ludum Dare, after a couple of years trying to participate, I finally did it!
Thanks guys for this awesome experience and community!
I don’t think I’ve looked up so many programming and Photoshop questions in such a short time before. But I have a completed game at least!

I have a completed game up, but it is a small part of all the things I wanted to do (of course). My biggest gripe is that I ran out of time to get any good art or sound in the game. I created some art for my main character, the wheel you push around and the village at the end, but that’s about it. No background and my ground tiles are just some gradients from Photoshop.
I think the main lesson I learned is you need to plan for all of the needed assets somehow up-front. Think of a system that will allow you to add assets and code in at the same time so you can build off of each other. Late today I realized I should have started with a much smaller character model, but it was too late at that point because I created so much of the level by hand.
If you feel like trying my submission its called First Wheel: http://ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-36/?action=preview&uid=112228
I know there’s no judging this time, but I wouldn’t mind feedback (though I already have a lot from myself).

It’s been a journey, haven’t had this many conflicting opinions about a project of mine in a long while. I think a finished definitive edition may be necessary, that way I can implement the larger story I wanted and also add music and sound effects (I’m really bummed I didn’t get to add these) but that said, it’s in a playable state, and one I’m not unhappy with.

I’m proud to present my first submission to Ludum Dare! ^u^
Its called “Empty Shell.”
Its a platformer where you play as a clay golem and place clay blocks on the screen.

Build your way to victory!
