Some amount of polishing later…
Time to put on the level design hat and make me some levels!

)Time to put on the level design hat and make me some levels!

)I’m pleased to present ‘Pax Extraterrestria’, my first LD entry. The basic premise is you play a Roman soldier, who was captured from his time and put on display in an alien zoo. You must hack and slash a way back to your place in time.
I spent way more time on artwork than I would have liked (I’m a terrible artist), but overall I’m pleased with the player’s design/animations. Unfortunately I didn’t have enough time to finish Zeus, who was planned to make an appearance as an ultimate ability (by offering the souls of the slain for a screenwipe), so next time I need to strike a better balance between art and gameplay.
Please give it a shot, and let me know your thoughts. The feedback is much appreciated!

Title: “Ancient Instrument”
Summary: A world void of joy is changed forever when a long forgotten instrument crash lands in a small town.
Release Time: LD36 Jam Entry, 29/8/2016
Well, at least I’ve got something to show for the past 48h. I originally intended to enter the compo, but this has now become a jam entry. Hopefully the game will actually be fun..

with less than 24 hours to go and I've decided now is a good time to add a new mechanic #LDJAM #LD36 #ludumdare pic.twitter.com/ZQL1HpPUNl

Or rather I was a few hours ago, but after some sleep I’m now ready to accept some challengers in my very first multiplayer game:
Come and join the fun. The more the merrier (I wanna see at what point my game can’t handle any more players).

I had to start from scratch at 4pm, leaving me only 4 hours to get something in. But I did it, and I am sort of proud about what I was able to do in a short amount of time. I made a rotary phone simulator (in a very simplistic sense) in that time. There isn’t much else to it, but visit the link below and let me know what you think. I am ambitious enough to further development on this if anyone is interested in seeing something more, but as for right now, it is what it is.

My entry this time around is a solo effort, I was aiming for something really atmospheric and moody. SUNWARD is a game about performing the ritual of the hunt. Use your ancient spear to sacrifice animals, and guide their spirits home.

Last night your drank heavily with cute Angelinas.
But today is exam day.
You’ve got a hangover.. so you copied work of unknown student in refectory.
Erhhh.. Good luck, man.

But copied work have some problems.
These people easy will kill each other for last apple or kitten.
Try to learn these barbarians manners.

This is puzzle or clicker game with team managment:
Done for today, I have a level full of archaeologists just waiting to be slaughtered. When they die they drop ancient coins, which you need to operate the ANCIENT TECHNOLOGY.

I’ll save fixing this buggy behavior for tomorrow. My super villain archaeologist with a gun never aims it at you properly, but he still tries shooting it, best of all if you circle around him he ends up shooting himself.

EDIT: What does everyone use to make their animated gifs? Mine doesn’t seem to work…

The energy shield is running out and someone need to go to the Robot Forest to investigate. Techsa the Bot Hunter, and her petbot LD36 are the chosen one to save the village.

We have still a lot to do but I think we’ll manage to finish what we planned.
Well, little bit late but I finished my game, just 4 levels for now. But hope you guys will like it. Was a good experience and learned a lot of this weekend and to top it of, got a very cool game concept which I will work out further in the coming weeks.

A Goodnight to All – until next Jam!
Beta version of our game will be streamed at https://www.twitch.tv/thecatspjsgames
Come see what our game looks like in our first playthrough.
I’m terribly slow, so the compo was out of the question, but I’d like to finish something playable for the Jam ^_^U
I had planned making a sidescroler in which the main character (an archeologist) finds an egyptian artifact with superpowers, then the pyramids start taking off like starships and the world goes to hell. I didn’t realized at first, but I probably should have tried something simpler XD
Right now I’ve got only lots of placeholders, a working menu and some horrible & broken gameplay intent. And 19,5 hours to go, yay! XD
Yeah, not the best name but Apocalipto was already taken, so it was this one or Egypsis

Also, bugs, bugs everywhere XD
Let’s have fun until the end of the Jam! 😀
Hi guys, here again…
sigh.. so, after leaving the fascinating posts of ludum dare, I realized something: I have that one god damn school assignment yet to do, which I have to return on Monday. So I start working on that, and after couple of “minutes” of that and a “little” nap, I notice that the clock is 4 am… the time here when Compo closes. And all i have is the sprites for the game, not a single line of code, and I’m so tired now that I’m not able to do the game before the jam ends, sooo at this point, I just have to give up, which is sad because I was really excited for this. But I guess I’ll do better next time around, and try to capture couple of my friends to be my slaves so we can do the jam together, and maybe I’ll finish this project anyway and put it to newgrounds or something. But until next time, bye!
…what? “but wheres the irony in this” you ask? Oh, it’s the school assignment, I’m in computer school, which specifically teaches how to make videogames. So, I couldn’t make videogames for videogame event, because my videogame school was forcing me to learn how to make videogames…

I’ve got a name \o\.
And a Main Menu /o/.
And I may or may not start to feel tired and so, losing my sanity \o/.
I was about to start a classical “push button, receive bacon” menu and while searching the design in photoshop I tought “zomg yes making the main menu an actual level wow doge such genius” only to remember 0.5 seconds after that “yeah, that has been done plenty of time before”. But I kept the idea and I’m pretty happy with the result.
Now : more levels, more coffee, sounds and onto polishing.

As many of you know, steering an ancient trireme could be at times… difficult.
With not one, but two rudders, and a whopping 180 oars in the water, things can get complicated.
This video demonstrates the skills required to successfully steer a trireme.
As you can see, the rudder is broken. And I will spend the next 20 hours or so fixing it.
Got my timelapse done!
Props to Chronolapse and ffmpeg, they are both invaluable tools.
