Ready for Ludum Dare 19

It looks like I’m ready for Ludum Dare 19… No matter what theme is, I should make a game for it 😉

Sorry I didn’t made it on Ludum Dare 18, but this time I will… promise guys 😀

I’m on holidays by the way… So let’s rock and roll after the theme of LD19 is on!! XD

Deskshots already?

Is it that time already?

Didn’t really change since LD18 but I think it would be rude not to take a new picture.

Another first time LD-er here.

Exciting stuff…  I will be using the following:

Engine: Scirra Construct

Gfx: Photoshop. And possibly Sculptris / Max / Flash if for any reason I’d need it…

Sound: SFXR if I go retro. Else I’ll have to get creative with a mic or something…

Music: Guitar Pro if I go retro. Real guitar if not.

Good luck all!

3 Jams, 1 Weekend

As we find ourselves in the unusual situation of having 3 development jams on at the same time, I’ve decided on an extra challenge for myself this time around – I’ll be making one game to fit all three jams in the Ludum Dare 48 hours. Considering the three events are the Experimental Gameplay Project, the Game Prototype Challenge and Ludum Dare, I’ve unimaginatively decided to name this project of inevitable futility…

The Experimental Prototype Dare

(hey, it sounds better than the “Ludum Gameplay Game”)

Tools:

  • Code: C# with XNA Game Studio 4.0 and Visual Studio 2010
  • Graphics: The GIMP
  • Audio: sfxr
  • Hardware: Whatever I can find lying around
  • Food: Nutritional content questionable
  • Sleep: Unlikely

Given the nature of the project, I’ll be centralising my progress reports on my own blog to avoid spending hours cross-posting everything, and posting links and updates to the usual #ld48 hashtag on Twitter.

Is anyone else doing this? I know I’m not entirely alone, McFunkypants was the one responsible for making me want to do it :)

third time’s the charm?

Hi ppl, this will be my third time entering Ludum Dare. Lets see how the weekend goes.

I will use:

  • Engine: Components Engine (custom made by arielsan and me)
  • Language: Java
  • Graphic libraries: Slick2d and LWJGL (opengl)
  • IDE/Editor: Eclipse
  • 3D Modeling and Animation: Sculptrix and Blender
  • Images: Gimp, Inkscape
  • Sound Effects: Sfxr
  • Sound Processing and Recording: Audacity
  • Music: Undecided.

My target platforms will be Linux, Mac and Windows.

Our engine and some other helpers are here

You can see our other entries, and other games at our blog – http://blog.gemserk.com

Good luck to everyone

Deed poll

I’ve decided to use a new account this time. I’ve been doing some work under this new nickname as my new employer is less appreciative of employees making games outside of work, and too many of my colleagues knew the old name. Unfortunate, but the price you pay for selling out I guess :p

Completed LD14 before, and had a go at LD18 but work got in the way and I ran out of time.

Disaster has struck and I have a flat inspection on Monday morning so I’ll probably be dividing my time between Ludum Dare and scrubbing floors.

Obligatory tools declaration:

  • Hardware: Acer Aspire One:

Acer Aspire One

  • Framework: Processing
  • “Art”: Paint.net OR InkScape
  • Music: musagi OR one of the music generators people have been posting OR actual electronic pianoforte
  • Sound: sfxr OR silence
  • Information Superhighway and IRC: Opera!

And I’ll try to do a timelapse this time.

First Time

This’ll be my first time entering but I’m really looking forward to it.

Heres my setup:

  • Engine/framework: Love2D
  • Code: Lua, C
  • Graphics: Photoshop  + paint.net
  • Sound: SFXR

My Timelapse:

And things started off so well...

Oh, it looks like we can expect some awesome music from you 😀

The letter *

I will only compete if the theme starts with a certain letter (I will be omitting the letter for its safety)

As usual, I will be using the Love Engine, Gimp, and Notepad ++

arielsan third strike

Well, I am going to participate again, this is the third time… hope to make it better than the other ones…

What am I planning to use? here is the answer 😀

See you there

Good luck to all.

Decided to enter

I finally decided to enter this LD. This will be my first LD and as I don’t have alot of experience making games I doubt I will get my game any where near playable by the end of the 48 hours. I’m thinking of this purely as a learning experience.

I’ll be using XNA to make the game, paint.net for the art, 3DS Max if I need to do any 3D and sfxr if I get round to implementing sound.

Good luck all!

Good day.

I’m in for this compo for sure. Hopefully I won’t lose motivation like last time.
I’ll be using Game Maker 8 Pro for the game, MS Paint for graphics, SFXR for sound effects (DrPetter deserves a medal for that program) and possibly Musagi for music.

Mebbe!

I would like to make something but will only have a few hours on the weekend.

I’ll be using Flashpunk, plus a little add-on library called FlashPunkGameDay which basically has a few handy tools + preloader + the font class from my older add-on “ParsePunk”:

It’s here:

I’m entering

My preparations for this LD have been next to none, thanks to exams (had the last one yesterday). But I won’t let that stop me!

My plan:

Make a flash game using FlashPunk (and learn the library at the same time.)

Other tools:

  • FlashDevelop
  • Photoshop
  • Sfxr
  • Ableton Live (if time permits)

Hi all. This is the first time LudumDare entry for me. I wish I could finish my works in this 48 hours anyway…

Chronolapse Photo Merger

Having had a quick looksie at how chronolapse performs its video encoding, and wanting to have more “control” over the process. I wrote up a small program that provides more functionality.

Screenshot :P

The main addition is the ability to skip over photos, which means that if I record a frame every 5 seconds, I can then later on record the video using only every 4th frame.

The only problem at the moment is setting the output format (It currently records to the file types “equivalent video format”, MEncoder isn’t making it easy, or I’m not looking in the right spot…), I’ll keep trying to get it right (Or if someone knows what settings should be used, let me know :))

You can download it from here.

I’ll look into fixing problems with it once the comp is over (Only an hour to go!)

IM new to Chronolapse and I find that I cant play the videos on other pc’s. The video plays with the first still only. I cannot find a way to ‘finalise’ the video. Any suggestions?

Participating

Not sure from the rules if posting something is required in order to participate, but since (almost) everyone’s doing it, why not be a lemming myself? Anyway, I hope to lose my Ludum Dare virginity this time, in hopes of a fun process, using python2.7 (2.6) + pyglet + cocos2d, and optionally squirtle. No (other) basecode. Linux for development, but it should be pretty straightforward to port to win/mac.

“Desk”shot…

These seem to be the thing to do — but I have nothing fancier than my camera (unfortunately in use during the shot, sorry), my lappy and my saxophone…
