HyperLaserSurvival

Hello, this is a small Top down shooter I created for the Ludum Dare 38 Jam. I hope you have as much fun playing it, as I had for developing it. The Game was created Using the Unity Engine, the models, textures and backgrounds were done in Blender. Best Regards Legion

I did it!

This was my first LD ever and im so happy that i did it! :D I didn't even expect to finish it on time. I know it could be better but i'm not very good at pixel art and music(but i have learned a lot!) and at least i like it.

But if you want to know more... Shovel vs deforestation

It's done, I think...

The game is done.

Still lots of balancing issues for a strategy game. The cube has some problems also.

And I decided to keep the retro UI, but wish I had more time for polish, as always...

LDJAM Final Update

Final update of me and @blackoptics8 jam game (Game will be uploaded later on before submission time) Basically the premise is that the planet you are on is being destroyed by Nuclear Radiation, And you have to find resources (Mostly just melon slices in this jam build) to survive a rocket ship ride long enough to find a new home You also have to find Rocket Fuel

I've finished...barely.

I made a Goat-Sim style "smash-em-up" that also is political satire, to some extent.

You are a hugely unpopular president. You are also a giant for some reason. Stomp around and destroy the city. But watch out; there are giant protesters with witty signs that will offend your ego.

I very nearly didn't end up finishing this time; I suffered from lack of inspiration when trying to come up with a game idea, lack of inspiration to develop, and a general feeling like "I'm going to regret this really badly" because people are going to get offended by it.

The game's still sorta unfinished, there's no main menu, minimal sound effects (Beyond ability quotes, of course), and there's a lot of unfinished GUI elements and such. I'll make an update in a few days when I'm not quite as drained, that should add some polish and stuff.

Upload is really a thing in China

It took 2 hours to be done.... Finally!

Finished!

Our team participated in the jam as a final for our game development course! We went with a tiny-planet platformer. Check it out at https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/$26014 Screen Shot 2017-04-23 at 10.37.05 PM.png Screen Shot 2017-04-24 at 7.11.26 PM.png

Oh, Well. There's Always Next Time

Welp. I think I'm out. I kind of quietly joined on Saturday night, and started working on something, but I spent a bit to much time focusing on the art style, and the world map, and I didn't actually get time to make the gameplay. I think the concept that I had was cool, but I don't think that I can call it much of a game at this point, because there's really nothing to do at the moment. I might still try to submit it for documentation purposes, but I don't think I can really call it done in the state that it is in.

The premise of my game was to make a bit of a Zelda-clone, where the entire game took place in a small 80 pixel by 80 pixel window. The window moves around the screen with the player, and the entire world map exists on one screen. I also limited myself so that all of the art was contained in 8 by 8 images

Here's what the game looked like next to the LD logo for size comparison:

And here's the world map that ended up eating all of my time:

Anyways, this was still a really fun experience, and I gave myself a few personal challenges that made me learn some new stuff, and made the experience much more interesting. Hopefully, next time I can give myself more than a few hours to work on it, and make something really cool. Congratulations to everyone who participated this time, and good luck to everyone during the Judging!

TIMELAPSE!!!

Finished Membrum

Phew, finished! I did want to end around 6h ago, but then i got people to play, which was very funny to watch and suddenly i had motivation and energy to work some more. A busy weekend is over, a lot of enthusiasm, a lot of mood swings. But overall, we are very happy being able to finish something. screenshot7.png It was a family project too! My girlfriend did most of the graphics, then my sister joined for creating some pixel art. My sisters boyfriend took care of the music and the nephew of my girlfriend looked for sound and edited them. It's great to see how many people like to join here, and how other people are interested in the games. I took care of the programming and the game design. Link

Maybe i'll write a proper post mortem this week :)

Good night, looking forward to play your games!

Another Ludum Dare down, and a welcome back to working with the lovely @pixelbear . This has been a fun one, with us both pushing ourselves as much as we were able to. Visually I'm really happy with what I achieved, gameplay-wise I feel like this is our best effort to date at making a solid fully functional game.

It's been 3 years since I last worked with Pixelbear, and not that much less since my last go at LD. So it's good to be back

Where we went with the theme

We went with the vibe of a small town where everybody knows everybody. Where if you need something you know just the guy. We combined this with an MMO style quest system, but twisted it. The NPCs chase you down to do their work, but you actually don't want to do their jobs. You're focused on a set of very important tasks for your own self.

Hopefully we succeeded in getting across the vibe of an inescapable atmosphere where ultimately you're hiding from your friends just to find some solitude.

Inspired by: Animal Crossing, the horror that is fetch quests, Stardew Valley, and probably other things subconsciously.

And finally

Thanks for checking out our game! You can follow us on Twitter

Pfew!

With a few minutes to spare I published my second LD entry "Quantum": https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/$25896 I lost a day struggling on my first idea, but it simply didn't work as a game.

I could have used that extra day playtesting, tweaking and polishing Quantum. For now I am proud to deliver for the second time in a row. I am also very happy with the online leaderboard (only in the Windows builds), so hope to see some score appearing there.

Beat Nick on Planet Beat.

planetembeat/emimg.jpg

We're initially weren't planning on submitting anything but Planet Beat turned out to be a lot better than we expected, especially since we threw our first prototype in the bin. Managed to get it all uploaded with 30 minutes to spare. Mr. Beat Nick would be proud.

We have finished the Picto World!

picto 2017-04-25 01-08-35-27.png

We finally finished the Picto World. It was a curious weekend, as we started late and got some delays. But in the end we got somewhere. It's different than the last games we made but i think we got something interesting.

You can find the links to the downloads at the game page:

The Game isn't really fully finished and we have a bunch of things we want to add later. Lets see where this project finally ends.

little terra

hey folks - some friends and i made a game for ld38, and it's available here! https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/terrinha i'm sort of impressed that we were able to implement almost all of what we planned. massive props to the coder for being able to do all of this and even have enough time to draw some missing sprites afterwards. we hope you like our game, and that you enjoyed the game jam experience!

Yaaaay, we're done!

Sadly after all the implementing we didn't have much time to do alot of levels, except a tiny one D: That's pretty sad, I hope people can still appreciate the "potential" and stuff, haha :) do you guys know that feeling?

Here is our entry: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/pollux I would love if you guys would check it out <3 Now I'm back to checking out your wonderful stuff! :)
