My second compo and platformer

This time i make game in easier program construct 2 b69f06183e.jpg Game where you need to die to proceed further, people sacrificed you and every year next people go b69f06183e (1).jpg some basic puzzles 66253ea5af.jpg solution

Charming

I had to compensate @colletto-gregory 's last treacherous post. Better, I think :') ?charming.JPG

I’m Back in the Running!

More than 50% of this Ludum Dare was taken up by other obligations, so I didn’t think that I was going to participate at first. But I really, really like the theme this time (for once), so I’m gonna try and put something small out in the six hours that I have available! I’ll be streaming my development and I’ll share a link when I’m live!

Got the design down

So after the theme announcement I went to sleep 10 hours - as usual. And I woke up with an idea.

I want you to fight a dragon on a cliff. On the way there, you will get powers but in order to got to the next stage you need to sacrifice something.

I got all the design as a draft - will not write an FDD during the compo though maybe in the porting/jam period. IMGem20181201/em144231.jpg

I know what I want exactly, so I have compiled a little TODO list on the programming tasks. - refactor the OpenGL Hello Wrold Triangle to have: - separate rendering/logic/fake physics update (but keep it simple) - have separate texture and shader loading and handling and a renderable list - game states with corresponding screens - separate GUI layer - need to display: - whole screen drawing - possibly with scrolling - for playfield - sprites - hopefully with animations - some text - create game mechanics: - movement: - run - with speeds while holding a button - jump - the usual parabolic stuff without control in mid air - moving along a line path while holding a button - collision: - sprite to sprite - sprite to world: - with a line to walk on - with places on map with a 1-bit map - getting input: - keyboard keys for moving - mouse for aiming a shot

This is for the getting stuff ready for the game programming and is preferably done by tonight.

Happy jamming!

Working prototype is working!

My idea is to give the player a bunch of ice cubes which slide around the level but melt in hot lava - BUT! When they melt, they also freeze a bit of the lava and make a little platform which the next ice cube can use to get a bit futher along the level.

I joined in a few hours ago.

This is the first screenshot of my assets in the game. Coding just started. Not too much time left to do this.

This will be a JAM game, but i will only work until compo ends.

Shepards Island will become reality

Whoops

In all my preparations for LD43, I failed to do one vital thing: Tell work to buzz off. 😅

My retail day job has scheduled me the most inopportune times for all three days of the jam, so if I do get anything done it'd be horribly low quality. I probably won't have a finished game by the end of the jam, but I might still make something after it's over and post it here.

Well, it was fun getting hyped at least, I'll try to be more prepared for #43. GLHF everyone.

My game is cancelled...

I finished working on the game and it was ready to be built. I clicked on "Build" but no matter what i did it did not work....

See you in April...

Slow progress

Basic gist of the game is to convert towns, but be prepared to sacrifice a few followers to gain mana which can be used to cast more powerful spells.

Very slow progress at the moment, mostly because I can't remember how Unity/C# does derived classes...

Sacrifice your weapon for kills!

12 hours in and I think I accidentally found my game. Looks like I am making a 3d hotline Miami game where you throw your gun away to kill people. Not really sure yet but I am running with it.

Went to sleep after HUGE! Progress.

The last thing I showed people was the basic concept of the game. Thankfully, during the hours I was awake, I made tons of progress. The core of the game is practically done! Celebratory teaser time! unknown.png

Damn Grinches Studio says Hi to everybody!

I'm withdrawing :(

Sadly, I am just not feeling inspired this time around. I have been having a hard time coming up with ideas revolving around the theme, and the ones that I did come up with either turned out to be too time-consuming to make, or were just not my cup of tea.

I'll hopefully be back for the next one, but until them, I wont be doing it this time around! Good luck to everyone else, and hope you all have a great time game jamming :)
