I played this game early on and the only reason I hesitated on a 'review' was because I wasn't entirely sure how to word my reaction. Whether the developer intended it or not, there's a stark poignancy going on here that elicited a real reaction from me and I was very excited to think about its potential. Inherently neutral game mechanic or possible vehicle for a much deeper meaning aside, the game quickly established an insidious tone right out of the gate that could easily couple with any number of wider reaching motifs. Again, I think the potential to link this to overarching themes of injustice could make this a super powerful game serving up capital A art. But all that aside, what IS here is a great mechanic that can swing into dark humor or harsh metaphor (or both?) and I'm impressed with the mood and versatility that's come out of a Jam game- scratch that- a COMPO game. For delivering a solid mechanic that really plays off two themes with a lovely bit of sardonic crunch, this game gets 5 concealed assailants culling the weak from the herd out of 5.

You are a pirate aboard a ship, responsible for keeping the boat spick and span. Cleaning is hard work, but you have a secret. Use magic to clean faster, but don’t let your fellow crew members see your powers or else you will become shark bait.

[Control / Gameplay] Use WASD to move “E” to manually interact “SPACE” to use magic “ESC” to quit game move around the pirate ship reloading cannons, try and do it before the captain gets mad, also use your secret magic powers to make your life easier and instantly accomplish a task.

I'll toss this up one last time. I did a fair shake at trying to work with something, but I never got the whole game together in time! Long story. But Jeremy Ouillette did a short but good music clip!

I’m still updating it, mostly been bugfixing, adding sequences, and trying to wrangle the mechanics...

I’m not completely happy with how I'm playing with the mechanics; if you have the same color as a laser, why push the box? Why interact when you can build, or teleport? This has been my other challenge here (beyond geometry code). There’s fun potential here, but I have to think mechanics more.

What do people think? How would you combine these mechanics? - teleportation, wall building? color immunity and pushing blocks?

So far I've * tweaked the dash controls * added a shield required on dash that destroy a bunch of projectiles when it's used up * the players get shoved away when dashed into (as opposed to just pushed) * nicer death/rally end animation * more stuff

Congratulations all LD41 champions for taking part and unleashing your creativity!

This is my highest score so far (on easy mode) :). I would be really curious about yours. I know the weapons and signatures seem unnecessary in the beginning. But if you don't use them to actively hunt down asteroids, but as life savers when you can't dodge anymore, they get pretty useful in the later game.

Another tip: Don't use every space station on the way. This costs a lot of scrap.
