LD 41 April 20–23, 2018

My last entry was for LD26

Hi guys!

After years of procrastination, I decided to kick my own butt and participate to this LD!

Hope to have a fantastic experience and to play some awesome games!

See you guys for the jam, Cheers!

A Relatively Small World: Remastered

In preparation for LD41, I'm remaking ARSW from scratch in GameMaker Studio 2. I've made a lot of progress and added some cool features, like camera follow and 3D audio. I also reworked the walking animation so it doesn't look like he's dancing a jig around the planet.
A lot of people said they had a hard time distinguishing between the zones on the planet, so I added things like dust puffs and trees to help identify zones a bit better.
ezgif.com-optimize.gif I'll be redrawing the cities as well with more detail so players can see them better.

A Song That I'm Proud of!

So, the wait for Ludum Dare 41 is killing me right now. But, in the meantime I made some music. This is the third composition I've ever made. And, for the first time, I actually LIKE the results. The other two I wasn't very fond of, one of these two is actually the music in my LD40 entry Shape Invasion.

And here's a download for the original source file

I'd like to know how you all think of it! Also, on a side note, the name of the software (Bosca Ceoil) is pronounced as buska kyoal, if you didn't already see the pronunciation on its home page.

One last thing: I am thinking of, in the future, taking some of the tracks I made and compiling it into an album called "First Songs I Made". I am mentioning this because if you magically see this picture upon opening the file on Windows Media Player: FirstSongsAlbum.png Then you basically know about the whole "album" thing and what it'll be like. I'm not sure if this'll happen for all of you, and I don't wanna make the same mistake like I did with the font in Shape Invasion. You have been warned.

But anyways, I'm certainly excited for LD41! It will definitely be quite an adventure considering my plans for both my game and the post mortem experience.

Here's to hoping that LD41 won't suck balls! Ronan3.png Had to find SOME way to shoehorn this picture into the post..

Preparations for Ludum Dare 41

And here it is! I'm most likely in.

This time I'd like to drag out this beauty:

tmp.png

Which is a custom in-house D3D12 engine. This would somewhat hard limit people who would like to try it out, although on the other hand it would somehow allow me to test this in a game-like scenario (it was never tested in such case).

I have quite long roadmap, which I'm implementing and if Ludum Dare theme is good, we're doing this!

Tell me what you think!

Here we go again...

Hello guise!

Sadly I couldn't join last LD myself due to school, so I just had to team up with CodeMyst (@leonlaci) to create a monstrosity of a game. (We don't speak about Endless, Nameless. Just let it die.) This time, however, I'm going all in again. On my own. (No offense though, Code)

As per usual, I'll be primarily using the following: - Unity 2017, for generally putting the game together. - GIMP 2, for all my graphical needs. - Visual Studio, for my low-key programming. - MS Paint, for any quick prototyping sketches. - MS Word, Notepad++ & Dictionary.com, for anything related to story and game design documents. - Bosca Ceoil, for any musical tracks. - Mostly my voice, for any sound effects.

As always, the best of luck to you! Let's Goooo!

Hopper Re-make

Hey Everyone. Back in Ludum Dare 38 I made Hopper, a small little platformer that did suprisingly well, and since then I have been working on making a full version (progress on my fb page). I decided that given it's (almost) one year since I first created it, I would make a remastered version of my original entry, using the new physics and graphics, as well as patching out some bugs. It's a small game but I'm quite proud of it, and I'm glad it's coming along the way it is. Enjoy

I'm In

This will be my seventh LD, and I am looking forward to it.. as always. My tools of choice:

  • Unity with C#
  • Blender
  • Photoshop
  • Paint.Net
  • Audacity
  • Bfxr
  • Otomata
  • Some Red Bull, coffee, and sugary snacks for energy!

I'm in

This is my fifth LD (I missed one since my first one in LD35 *sad trombone*). I'll be doing something in Unity, probably 2d, that seems to be my go-to thing now. But it depends on the theme, I guess.

Tools: - Unity/C# (MonoDevelop because Visual Studio is actually kind of weird for me???) - Photoshop - Wacom Intuos - Probably Adobe Animate or perhaps Blender if I take the 3D route (Blender is a big oof for me tho) ... or Pixen if I decide to do pixel art. - GarageBand? I might use BFXR for some sound effect bases too, but GarageBand is generally nice for mixing sound clips and adding effects, as well as music - Just a good old-fashioned pencil/pen and paper for planning - Cringey music (eurobeat) (maybe some LoFi too) - Words of encouragement from my friends and family - Many many bottles of Dr. Pepper, "The intellectual drink, for the chosen ones!"

I might be in?

Let me just oil my rusty game-making joints. *Squeak, squeak.*

Tools: - PICO-8 again, probably. (Or maybe GameMaker: Studio 1.4 if I end up wanting to pull off something I can't in PICO-8.) - Notepad for easier code organization. Although with v0.1.11's code tabs, that may not be as necessary. - Many cups of tea.

We are in!

This will be our 6th Ludum Dare! We wish everyone good luck! https://teamcatwheel.itch.io/

Tools:

  • Unity

  • Photoshop

  • Aseprite

PICO-8 jammers

Hey guys, I see a lot of you are planning on using awesome PICO-8 for this jam. I would love to keep track of every PICO-8 game there will be, so please, comment down something, so I can follow ya 😉

And ofc, I'm going with PICO-8 myself. Good luck, everyone!

We're in!

We'll try applying the knowledge we got from LD40 in this one. Especially the importance of an ingame tutorial ;) The pipeline will be mostly the same as in LD40:

-jMonkeyEngine 3.2 as the engine

-jMonkeyEngine 3.2 SDK for coding, model preparation and materials

-Blender for 3D models

-Photoshop/GIMP for textures
