Making invaluable progress here!

Me and my friends just submitted our game!
It would have been more polished if it weren't for that we ran out of time and that this was the first time we both made and published a game. I think it turned out great considering that we have no experience, but let me know what you think of the game! I always appreciate some constructive criticism.

Last Ludum Dare I joined with 2 of my friends and it was a really fun experience. However, we made a lot of mistakes: we overslept a few HOURS the first day, we had broken UI, because Blender has the z-axis as the up & down axis the exports of models were rotated wrongly (and downscaled for another reason) and we made various other game related.
This time though... this time I'm going to join with 7-8 friends. We're going to be EIGHT OR NINE PEOPLE WORKING ON THIS GAME. Also: my experience with 3d modeling and game development using Unity has increased a lot and unlike last time we are (mostly) going to be in the same room / building so communication will be better.
I have high confidence that this round will go better and although managing such a large team might prove to be difficult I am certain that we will manage.
So we're nearing the end of our first day working on this project. It's shaping up to be quite good although we might have some scope issues if we don't manage to fix certain things tonight or tomorrow morning.
At first we were really mad that "Combine 2 Incompatible Genres" was chosen since it was the theme that, out of the top 10 themes, we were the least excited for. But then we got the idea to make a cooking brawler where you have to kill enemies to get the ingredients that you use to cook food for mr. Moneybags.

We actaully really like the idea we came up with and we're currently working hard to manage all the things we have to finish before the deadline. At the moment we have the inventory and pickup system done and we've also modeled alot of the basic assets. Animations for the main character are in the works and most concept art has been finished.
Here are some screenshots / clips of some of our current work:

We're going to be working our hardest tomorrow to finish the game and we hope that we will atleast be done with the main battling mechanics and that we will have some of our enemies (like the frog-avocado above) done.

So... We have gotten a ton of work done now and we think we'll be able to release an, at the very least, playable build of the game at the deadline. The inventory and chest system has been completed and you are currently able to damage enemies and take damage. Our animations are now functional, which shouldn't matter to you since we never told you they were broken but they were, and now they're not. We've also made a HEAP of progress in the game, you can recieve dish requests, check what ingredients are required, gather the ingredients, deliver them and "cook" the dish.

No, but on a more serious note, we spent a lot of effort into this game. It was far more work than we ever intended and it left us non-functional for the entire following day. I would really appreciate it if you gave it a play, it might be a bit unpolished and partly dysfunctional, but it's our baby. We love it and we want you to love it too. We also really want to hear your feedback, be it harsh but necessary criticism or praise. Thank you and good night.
We have now started developing our entry for this ludum dare.

Our idea for the theme this time (Running out of space) is to literally have you run out of space. We're going to basically have a dude, who's in a space station, run away from a threat towards earth.
Here's our current whiteboard scribble situation:

Our team this time is equally large as last time (8 people), although some members have changed.
Quick break with the team to replenish energy
Edit: Half our team^

I finally finished the main character... man this took me way too long. I made far too many mistakes. BUT NOW IT'S DONE.

I actually really like how it turned out :)

Finally finnished the last detail this game's presentation needed... * A TRAILER*

We spent a lot of time, effort, love and laughter on this game and we're all really pleased with how it turned out.
Hope you enjoy playing it as much as we did making it :)
You can get our game from here
p.s.
Here's something you won't see in the game, the actual head of the spaceman

So I spent some time making this gameplay trailer for our game so that people can see what they're getting into before playing (since our game is on the larger side). What do you think?

This is my 4th Ludum Dare in a row and therefore my first annual Ludum Dare. For the previous Ludum Dares I've been well prepared for the event and counted down the days until the competition weeks ahead. This Ludum Dare caught me by surprise though, I didn't even realise that it was this weekend until last Sunday which meant that we hadn't made sure that everyone was free this weekend so therefore only half of the team is here working on the game.
Even so, we're making great progress on the game. I'm mainly working on making 3d models for the game and so far I've completed nearly all of the weapons, one house and I'm currently working on the main character.

Our programmer (@totalaj) made this "concept art" whilst taking a short break from programming.

(Taking breaks is important, don't overwork yourselves)
Now I have finished the main character and started creating the enemies. The enemies are basically the main character with round eyes and slight clothing alternations. Rigging them was hard (since I suck at it) so I took some lazy shortcuts to not have to do it properly.

I think we might actually be able to make this game fun to play for once (but don't quote me on that).
