Is this not a 3D?!

I have been asked this question sooo many times

Technically, it's 3D, but it's just an imitation of 3D model :D

I made it by creating two sprite objects and merging them with a C# script.

In detail: the script generates a mesh in runtime between two sprites.Once it defines geometry it starts mapping UV for side material and keeps repeating this process until it reaches the opposite edge

Q: Is this better to create a 3d model of coin?

A: Nah :D This way is much funnier!

So go play the game and see it for yourself!

Visual Style Inspiration

In fact

When I was brainstorming the concept and visual direction at the start of the jam, I remembered Eve’s music video “Ghost Avenue.” It became a key inspiration for the game’s look and the styling of the UI elements.

Well yes, technically, it’s 3D, but in reality just an imitation of 3D model

Strange solutions

During the jam, we often resort to creative shortcuts to write code faster and cut down development time — which sometimes leads to some very strange solutions of problems

Do you have any things that you would never do in production or pet project? :D

Feature cut

During the jam, I kept iterating on the original concept and mechanics — some ideas had to be cut along the way. For example, at first, I planned to have 5 slots for coins, but once I added them, the gameplay lost its flow and just didn’t feel fun. So I scrapped that feature, even though it was already fully implemented.

Some other ideas were also dropped, like relics or special abilities for coins, which I simply didn’t have enough time to balance

But it's a standard pipeline of game creating, and for gamejam too

So don't be afraid of deny some ideas if you think that it doesn't fit or you don't have a time

CI/CD is on!

An improvised server for automatic content delivery to itch.io is ON! Next time, I'll connect to my bot's Discord API and ping issue notifications about new builds and publications :D

Also, really glad back to ludum and I wish everyone success and luck in creating a game that will bring a ton of fun to players!

From the Abyss [Compo]

Just finished designing the game pages. I’m so tired after 48 hours of hard work.

I hope you guys did great and took care of your health during the compo/jam.

Congrats to everyone on their new game, and good luck to all the jam participants with their projects!

Unreleased content for Jam

You almost always run into the same problem - you have to cut content and planned features to finish the game on time and give it a proper level of polish.

It's a sad reality, but a real one we have to live with. And this applies not only to gamejams, but to gamedev in general

I'd suggest sharing in the comments what you wanted to make, or what didn’t make it into the final build, so that your efforts don't go to waste.

In my case, I had to feature cut shark enemy because setting up its animation skeleton turned out to be a real pain

I also ended up cutting some upgrades and sonar signals.
